PS, What I am saying that you and others do not understand the New Birth. If you are saying it is possible for one to lose their salvation, I agree it is possible, but don’t think it happens that often. You see, it is possible to deny Christ after being saved, as an act of free will. Heb. 6:4-6 gives us the conditions. But sins can’t make us lose salvation because of what Heb. 9:28 tells us. In other words, unconfessed sins do not make us lose salvation. And if one does deny Christ after being saved, he is lost forever.
Do you have any understanding of the spirit, soul, and body of mankind? You would do well to get a hold of this concept.
I have a very good understanding of the new birth. How deep do you want to go? The new birth is a product of how Christ changed humanity when his divine nature became flesh and he assumed a human nature. Prior to Christ assuming flesh, men died and went to the land of the dead. It was through the new life put into us, through our faith in his sacrafice of his human nature, that everlasting life is in us and allows us to have an everlasting life. Does that mean the “ouious” given to believers, placed in believers making them sons and daughters of God, remain in them if they don’t persevere? Not according to scriptures.
Now, whether you realize it or not, you stated a Catholic belief in your post. That is, there are different levels of sins. There is sin and there is sin unto death.
1Jn 5:17 All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death.
Because of this, is there really an assurance of salvation? Not according to scriptures.
**Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.
Rom 8:16 For the Spirit himself giveth testimony to our spirit that we are the sons of God.
Rom 8:17 And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.
1Co 9:27 But I chastise my body and bring it into subjection: lest perhaps, when I have preached to others, I myself should become a castaway.
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore, he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall.
Gal 5:4 You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace.
2Ti 2:11 A faithful saying: for if we be dead with him, we shall live also with him.
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.
2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, he continueth faithful, he cannot deny himself.
Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 Have moreover tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God and making him a mockery.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after having the knowledge of the truth, there is now left no sacrifice for sins:
Heb 10:27 But a certain dreadful expectation of judgment, and the rage of a fire which shall consume the adversaries.**
Maybe we’re in agreement and it’s a matter of semantics that seems to separate us.
Now, can any man tell the condition of another’s heart, or know another’s salvation? It certainly appears that because we say it differently, you have judged Catholics unworthy of Christ’s promises. What I mean is, why else would a Christian go to another Christian forum because thier faith required them to share the good news of Christ?
Catholics have the good news of Christ. All Christian Churches have roots back to the Catholic Church. The Word of God in scriptures came through the Catholic Church. Below is what Martin Luther, leader of the Protestant reformation stated.
“We are obliged to yield many things to the Papists (Catholics)–that they possess the Word of God which we received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing at all about it."
Changes in beliefs only took place through the Protestant reformation and continue to take place, even in the present day, all due to private interpretation.
Catholics have said that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God. It is infallible. Man’s private interpretation is not. What scriptures can you produce that without a doubt could convince us that YOUR private interpretation is infallible over the Church’s interpretation?
I am led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides me in my interpretation. Now if thousands of people disagree over their own interpretations, like you and I do, who is right? Who has the authority to tell the rest they are wrong? Please provide scriptures to support your answer…
