It’s actually not warm and fuzzy.
It is actually like you are a filthy sinner who broke your Father’s law. And the only way back is to repent. Think about the parable of the lost son. When he was with the pigs he realized his sin and what he needed to do.
You should talk to a Catholic Priest. It is called an “illumination of conscience” and happens to Catholics more then you think. It is life changing if/when it first happens to those who have been away from the Church. Most of who you are talking with have had this infused slowly throughout their lives since baptism and at every examination of conscience starting at 7 or 8 y.o. This is why your getting flack about it. Tim

I’m saying ask yourself whether you are born again according to what it says in the scriptures.
Based on who’s interpretation of Scripture?

I think that this is a classic example of pulling one verse( out of context) from Scripture and coming up with very profound but very wrong conclusions about it. I know that when ever somebody approaches me and asked if I’m born again my immediate thought is “here ago again”.

Of course read jn3:3 you MUST be born again!
While reading John did you ever get to chapter 6? I’m always somewhat amused about the profound conclusions Protestants reach about John 3:3 and yet three chapters later missed the whole point of what our Lord was saying. Its like they built a whole theology based on one verse and ignored a whole chapter where the Lord lays out in detail what we must do

Okay! That’s clear then.

I was born again when I was baptized into the Catholic Church, I was born again when I reverted to the Catholic Church after a long period of relativism, and I continue to be born again every time I partake of the sacrament of Reconciliation because I die from my sins and arise in Christ. Also in this way I’m born again every time I hear God’s words and partake of Him in the Eucharist.

With that, I hope I qualify.

I don’t know of anyone who says the Catholic Church is the magic bullet for gettinfg to heaven. The only alleged magic bullet I see is from the evangelical Christians who claim to be “born-again” and therefore are saved and are certain they’re going to heaven. I believe a lot of them are in for a rude awakening when they stand before the Lord.

You have no idea whether your husband is going to heaven. You are judging him based upon your flawed understanding of what it takes to be saved . I cannot imagine a bigger insult to a spouse than claiming they are going to hell.
Yeah I know the truth is extremely difficult to take sometimes. Especially because we are human and dont want to insult or hurt anyones feelings but the truth is the truth and the bible is very specific on what it takes to get to heaven. If my hubby is not following that truth well-----That is why I pray for his salvation because I want him to go to heaven.👍

Are you born again?
If so how do you know?
Answer your own question perhaps? My testimony is here.

Salvation is not about playing some kind of 20 questions game with others or matching theological terminology, nor is it as over simplified as many n-C communities try to make it seem. (I call that “Christianity Lite” )
How Is A Catholic Saved?

Repentance and baptism (Acts 2:38 & 22:16) and then following Christ, (John 14:15, Matthew 10:38, 16:24, & 25:31-46, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23) which is a lifelong journey.

Though perhaps some Catholics cannot express it as eloquently as others, in my own study, I find that Catholics are (at least) as born again as anyone from any other n-C faith community, and moreso than some others. 🤷

See misslolliepops, when it first happened to me, my conscience was changed. At first I thought I had to change everyone else’s as well. Come to find out most practicing Catholic’s have had a healthly formation of conscience and I misjudged them because my change was so drastic and quick. Beware that because you have had this happen to you , you don’t get caught in the same snare. Tim

You are not dealing with the question:

How do I know if I’m born again?
Hi,
There is a big black line in the middle of your question:confused: Can I assume you are asking me how do I know if you are born again?

I dont–I dont know you. I have never met you in person. I think you really have to get to know a person(in person)to even have an idea whether or not they are saved.

Read romans again. Chapter 5,6,7,8.
This explains what happens when you are born again.
The old person, the new person. Study these things and then ask yourself if this has ever happened to you.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but who are you to offer me suggestions on my spiritual life? You don’t even know me. It is awfully presumptuous for you to assume that I need to “study” and “ask” about my relationship with Jesus just because I don’t share your theology.

I have read St. Paul’s letter to the Romans many times. I have read all of St. Paul’s letters many times. I am well aware of what it means to put off the old carnal man and become a new creation in Christ. But nowhere does Paul define “born again” in the way you claim. “Born again” means baptism, plain and simple.

When this first happened to me, I said to my wife “We need to go to church”. She just looked at me. See, she had been there all along praying for me to change. That was my first sin after the experience. I felt it pierce my heart. I presummed to know her spiritual state. Not a good thing to do. Tim

I pray that my husband says “Im going to church with you today”😃 I have been praying for him for a very long time. Patience is a virtue right:o
