Itās the estimated number of formal non-Catholic Christian organizations, based on statistics found in the World Book of Records, plus a random number meant to represent the number of little community-centre churches that are unaffiliated with any formal Christian organization, but style themselves āChristian.āI meant the number 40,000 which seems to be a popular number by Catholics for the number of āprotestant denominations.ā

Xavier, Iām really interested in the answer to my question I posed earlier:No. Judas was from Satan.
]Xavier, Iām really interested in the answer to my question I posed earlier:
Is the above your personal opinion, or did you find this in Scripture somewhere?
]Hmm⦠I like these games⦠People who were ānot Godāsā but he used:
The Pharaoh (of Mosesās days)
The Witch of Endor
The High Priest (in John 11:51)
Indeed! I believe God used my (ex)-bossāa lumbering bully and big meanieāto make me realize He heard my prayers!and I believe he is still using people today!![]()
]I think the more interesting question is, did God know that Judas was going to betray Christ, and did God desire that Judas betray Christ? Did Judas sin by betraying Christ? If so, did God desire that Judas sin?
Yup.]
Judas wasnāt from Satan, but he was filled with him while he was beraying Jesus!
I was winging it and didnāt have my Bible handy. I guess I was being lazy and didnāt want to look it up online too. I sure hope I got the right scripture.]
By high priest, I suppose you mean Caiphas? How about Rahab? Or Delilah? Bathsgeba perhaps? The list is endless, and I believe he is still using people today!![]()

You will discover upon reading what is written that a great number of those whom God used did so out of their consent. For example reread the gospel according to St.Luke. Pay very close attention to 1:38 and carefully note verses 41-43 side note on verse 44 a babe in the womb leapin( never knew that the unborn could know God was near.) You should be getting the hint now that Blessed Mary did knowā¦]
Two quick questions: Can you think of any other people that God has used throughout history to accomplish His will, and, If not Judas, who? Jesus had to be betrayed; it was prophesied! In order to betray, Christ, Judas, or whoever else it may have been(we know of course it was Judas), had to be allowed to get close! Did Judas know that what he was planning was a sin? Did he know early on that he would betray Jesus? Or did it come to him after the Devil entered him? Godās plan worked to perfection, and we are the benefactors:thumbsup:I cannot say with any certainty that God planned for Judas to commit suicide, but I do believe that He chose him for betrayal! In a weird kind of way, itās like Mary; she had no clue, but God did![]()

Well, it was am extrapolation of several verses. Luke 22:3 says Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.Yup.
I just wonder how XavierLives could have made his statement: āJudas was from Satanā
so emphatically. Does he just know this? Or did he get a private revelation from Jesus? Iām pretty sure he didnāt get it from Scripture.![]()
You might consider re-reading Luke 22:3; John 8:42-47; 13:2, 27.
It is Caiphas, but my reference to him was in John 11:49-53:49And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,]
If it is Caiphas of whom you speak, he is first referred to in John 18:24.He questions Jesus and then sends him on to Pilate!
Oops. I missed one explanation. John 17:12 then refers to Judas as the son of perdition, which basically answers itself.Well, it was am extrapolation of several verses. Luke 22:3 says Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
While this goes straight to the point, of being possessed, I think it is quite more. Satan doesnāt just take up residence where he chooses, there has to be a foothold. Before this point, Jesus already identifies the devil.
He says in John 6:70
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
And some time after that moment he goes to explain being of the children of the devil or being the children of God in John 8:42-47:42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47He that is of God heareth Godās words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Now, granted the John 8 scripture was not speaking to the disciples (Or Judas directly) but the instead the pharisees, but Judas seemed pretty comfortable in that group.
(I basically said the same thing on post #757 but didnāt spell it out)

If you mean in heaven, then yes, thatās true.Someday it will be one.
I dunno. You made a mini-doctrinal pronouncement: āJudas was from Satanā that Iād never heard before.Oops. I missed one explanation. John 17:12 then refers to Judas as the son of perdition, which basically answers itself.
Does that sufficiently give ground for my reasoning?
Well, I donāt think my thoughts on Judas are really mine. Iām just reading the Bible. As for a mini-doctrinal, I donāt think anything really hinges on it. Whether he is from Satan, of Satan, or otherwise associated with Satan, Jesus is the one making the notation and he is in a better position to understand the relationship than I. I can just take what he says.I dunno. You made a mini-doctrinal pronouncement: āJudas was from Satanā that Iād never heard before.
I suppose those Scriptures could be interpreted as supporting that Judas was influenced by Satan (and arenāt we all? Does that mean weāre all āfrom Satanā?)
Iād be willing to accept your doctrine, if youāre willing to accept any of the Catholicsā positions regarding the priesthood, Maryās Perpetual Virginity, Maryās Assumption, purgatory, etc, as supported in Scripture.![]()

God did not use Judas as person but God used Judasās actionsā¦God used the Blessed Mother as a person by her consentā¦We see no place in which Judas thanked God for using him.
