How far is too far for dressing?

But that being said the common sense part of it is a bit of bind, cos some people dont have that and I don’t mean that horribly but not everyone is brought up in a nice Catholic or Christian or even a moral house hold, which is where the presumption of ‘common sense’ breaks down.
I have commented before that goes both ways. I remember being told that tops that had buttons going diagonally rather than straight up, or empire waist tops, were immodest. Because the cut would invariably draw a man’s eye towards the bustline. So for example, the below top would be immodest:

because a man’s eye might follow the line of the buttons and be drawn towards the breast.

It was really hard to “use common sense” for me because what I was used to, anything that actually fit and looked good on me was automatically immodest.

Neither do pretzels or granola have any place inside a roasted turkey.
Deep fried? Whatever.

I’m so good looking it doesn’t matter what I wear, I’m a distraction. Sigh…

Sometimes I wish I could do it like an actual cat, just go out wearing fur and be awesome and not worry about it.

I’ve got the extra blessing in the form of too much junk in the trunk. Certain cuts of slacks paired with tunic tops can minimize it but skirts can and do accentuate it.

So it’s damned if I do and it’s damned if I don’t.

The Title of the page, from which that quote was drawn : “Modest dress
Question from Val O’Regan on 7/14/2006:”

But well, maybe they had it wrong or still need to learn how to translate Portuguese better.

Yes, the page is titled that. But the person who titled it misunderstood the use of the word fashion in this context.

And again, Catholics are in no way bound to accept messages that occurred in apparitions.

Modesty is decency. It inspires one’s choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is discreet”

I believe this one is from the Catechism(#2521, 2522).

But I think, modesty isn’t just a subject for only women’s dressing, but in men’s dressing too. Well, I like to picture Christ, given His opinion as concerns my dressing i.e my personal “apparition”. If I can’t guess a yes from Him, if I can’t picture any saint who would dress like that, then I believe there is a prob vis-a-vis modesty.

of course That’s only how I deal with it/ my opinion.

Oh I’m not arguing that one shouldn’t be modest, which of course rises from interior disposition. But this quote is used to justify some very odd ideas about what constitutes appropriate dress for women—such as only dresses, nothing sleeveless, etc.

Cornbread dressing with some Italian sweet and spicy sausage is delicious 😋.
If I’m following the subthread, it’s immodest for my wife and daughters to go out unless I dip them in Ranch Dressing first?
For those who think that women need to dress like beekeepers to avoid tempting them
tempting those poor little bees, and resulting in poor quality honey 😦 . Bees are very bad at custody of their multifaceted eyes . . .
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen an ugly cat.
They exist. I was stunned, though, too see an ugly calico . . . sighs a feral who hangs out in (and had kittens in) my back yard. Once the lawn is established, I’ll see about trapping and fixing them–but I’m about to seed, and they should be quite a help with the air-rats . . .

Many Catholic Christians still make reference to Fatima Apparitions, not necessarily because they oppose Vat 2 and the Church.

I’m confused. Fatima says nothing about Vatican 11 and many people love both.

What do women feel about men dressing immodestly? Is there really such a thing? Are we invoking lust when we wear tank tops or just wearing shorts at the beach? I do feel modesty goes both ways, obviously it’s much more fashionable for women to expose more in todays society but i do wonder if we men are oblivious to what we do ourselves?
