There are several photos and no, it is not overreaction. This type of physical contact between a grown man–an adult volunteer–and a small child violates guidelines that govern such behavior. And it violates them big time. Doesn’t matter how the man is dressed or what his sexual orientation is.

The library took the photos down once they realized people were publicizing them. And they made a vague statement about looking into it, or something. Mumble mumble. Translation? They know it was wrong, and now they’re looking for damage control.

Guess it bears repeating–anyone who sees nothing wrong with this behavior has no business working with children.

No, they weren’t. Like the photo of the little kids tipping the prancing drag queen, as in a strip club, at another library (link in post 46).

This man articulated it very well, re: the “drag queen” in Oregon. I agree–the “drag queen” looks demonic. This is demonic!

What’s scary is that I even work at a library. They don’t have things like this nearly as often, but the fact that they have these things at all…

It is scary, Dougbro. They haven’t tried to hold one of these at your library yet?

They’ve had one, but at a different branch from the one I work at.

I do not at all agree with the people who let their children go to such events but I do know quite a few of them.

They see if as a one time event (a couple of hours or a day) in a whole life of a child and think it is no big deal. They do not see it as damaging.

They see themselves as being open and more loving than you or I, that they are on higher ground in virtue.

You can not argue with them as they will see you as a bigot.

Are they misguided, of course. Many parents let their children watch Arthur and My Little Pony initially a good series that now have gay characters. They see no problem with the series if they don’t buy the episodes that have the gay characters. Similar thing.

This hasn’t happened where I live (deep South). Different culture - this stuff simply isn’t done here.

Hoping you can tell us, do library staff undergo training in safe contact with children? Mandated reporting, etc? I have assumed they do something like what teachers do, but if you could confirm that, that would be great.

Ultimately, it’s because they have a misguided moral foundation to begin with, and believe that the ultimate virtue is tolerance of anything and everything.

This is what happens when a society turns away from the true light of faith in Christ. It turns toward the darkness of the devil. It’s one or the other.

I’m only a student, and contact with kids isn’t the main part of the job. My main duties include shelving, and no, I haven’t done anything like that. Maybe for people in the CYS department, but I don’t know.

Surprised the city or county hasn’t made everybody complete training.

Small children tipping a drag queen, just like in a strip club. How cute! I wonder if the children thought that up themselves?

Not that I think DQST is all clean harmless fun, by any means, but this is a bit of an overreaction.

Don’t you Yanks tip EVERYONE from buskers to cab drivers to waiters to doormen? I mean it’s not like the DQ is getting his kit off and making the tykes stick dollar bills in his g-string like they do in actual strip clubs

Is that an apologetic for the grooming and sexualization of small children?
