I am a woman so I tried watching Women of Grace once or twice. It was very boring.
I was disappointed.
What do others see worthwhile about this
show?

I haven’t had cable for a couple of years, but I used to enjoy the travels of the Pope and the special Masses. I also liked the movies about the Saints. I used to like Father Benedict Groeschel’s show from
several yeara ago.

I mean you could hardly call Mother Anjelica modern.
She was a Catholic of her pre-WWII era. But on the other hand, a nun who founds her own TV station, appears on it teaching and giving her opinion, and reads bishops the riot act if she thinks they are wrong and doesn’t apologize?

Modern. Totally!

They cover the important Live events/Pope Francis. Has nothing to do with his perceived style.
Oh Ok. I’ve not seen any programs or news they do on any Popes. So they don’t favour one Pope over another? That’s encouraging to hear.
No, they do not. EWTN is 100% in line with the teaching of the Catholic Church. Only the news programs sometimes get a little political when they are doing commentary. But the remainder of the programs do not and are 100% Catholic.

The radio version is much better. I usually listen to it while doing other things. She has some very good insights on Catholic womanhood from time to time.

but to keep showing over & over 80s & 90’s vintage Mother Angelica shows ?
Are you kidding? The Best of Mother Angelica Shows are the best! She was simply awesome and her shows are still 100% valid today. Keep in mind, they don’t show every single episode, just the ones that were considered “The Best of”

Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. I wasn’t aware there is a radio version.

I’ve never thought of comparing him to a vampire. He seems sweet and nice to me.

I actually know people in their 20s and 30s who aren’t traditional Catholics, but love Bishop Sheen. They see him as holy and smart and elegant and retro.

Please note…definition of " liberals’ here…….those who don’t get ‘fed’ by EWTN.
NO. Mother Angelica’s definition of “liberal” was the people who thought it was OK to have Jesus Christ portrayed by a woman.

He was very smart. He’d prepare each program in French first, so it would force him to really know the material. Then he translated into English.

He appeals to me both spiritually and intellectually.

Its all a show. Entertainment. He’s a good actor but I question some of its substance.

Father Pacwa once said the Church is orthodox. It’s better to use the terms orthodox and heterodox instead of liberal and conservative.

Liberal could be orthodox. Conservative could be heterodox, especially in American politics.

We had a very well educated, tall, elegant, old-school parish priest with a European accent in the 70s when I was in school. He had dark hair and eyebrows and us kids called him “Father Dracula” when he first arrived.
He turned out to have been a Jewish rabbi who converted and became a priest. He was probably the smartest, kindest and best educated priest our working -class little suburban parish ever had. I still don’t know how he ended up in our area but he was a blessing.

Good actor? Really?

The man had two doctorate degrees, one is Philosophy and another in Sacred Theology. His show was so popular, he actually won an Emmy!

What Cardinal Spellman did to basically get him off the air was terrible.

I share some of his videos with my Protestant family members, and they like him. Many of his talks address issues of today so clear. He really was a prophet in this time.

God bless

Venerable Fulton Sheen, Pray for us!

Thomas Merton . Now there is a Saint. A much broader intellectual than Sheen. His talents from so many areas. A giant of a man. In so many ways.

He’s too much like Count Dracula.
You do realize that Hollywood purposely made Dracula look like Catholic Bishops, don’t you?

Bishop Sheen doesn’t look like Dracula, Dracula dresses like Catholic bishops.
