15, pretty serious, lasted several months. She was an evangelical in rebellion from her Italian-Catholic family! šŸ˜›

I doubt many people can say this. My first boyfriend was when I was 17. I wasn’t allowed to date till I was 16 and I just didn’t date even beyond 16. Instead I met a boy online and as my mom read our chatlogs (which was her stipulation for me to continue talking to him), she suggested she arrange that we meet. We dated 2 years long distance and were planning on going to the same college to be close to each other. We were also planning on getting married after college. My mom was even hooked on this idea. I blame it on the fact that she met my Dad when she was 18, was engaged 3 months later and got married a year after they met and are still happy together.

Anyway, my mom was shocked when my boyfriend broke up with me. She was in denial about it for longer than I was. It made getting over him really hard as she’d suggest that he only broke up with me because his parents forced him to. And the fact was he never gave much of a reason. He broke up with me over the phone and then really wouldn’t say much more about it and we never saw each other again.

After that, I gave up dating for a few years, then became open to it but really didn’t go on many dates. My next ā€œsteadyā€ boyfriend was my husband who I met when I was 27.

I’m 17, turning 18 in July, am in college and still waiting for Mr. Right! 😃

In case it has been overlooked, this is an old thread from 2004, resurrected in May of 2010and now resurrected yet again.

I think the big wedding today has folks in a romantical mood. There’s another popular thread on wedding dresses going on. It’s like Valentine’s Day on steriods.

I think it’s kinda sweet. The economy’s in the toilet, there are wars and violent revolutions all over the place, and so much has gotten so grim that I don’t even want to open a newspaper anymore. Wedding dresses and first beau stories are relaxing mind candy.

I’m 22, never dated, never had a girlfriend. I’m probably a lost cause! lol :o

Ah, I see. Okay. Just wanted to let folks know just in case they hadn’t noticed, but I guess that makes sense.

In October of last year…just after my 29th birthday. (I guess I like to take my time!!)

(And I found him right here on the CAF!!) 😃

I was 21 when I started going steady with the woman who became my wife. We will celebrate our 40th anniversary this June.

I was 20 when I had my first official boyfriend. We became rapidly engaged, and he turned out to be abusive, so I called it off after about a year. A month later, I met the man who is currently my husband, and he’s the most wonderful man in the whole wolrd!😃

I was 16, and dated him for about 2 and a half years. It was a nice relationship, I treasure the memories. Then I dated a few jerks before I met hubby at the age of 29. There are a lot of similarities between my first boyfriend and hubby, I like to think the first boyfriend just set me on the path to meeting hubby, that I would recognize who God wanted me to marry.
My first boyfriend at the age of 16 (my parents didn’t allow dating until at least 16), was very sweet, and the relationship was quite innocent, and I have a lot of fond memories of him.

My husband was my 3rd boyfriend, and has some of the same kind qualities that I admired in the first boyfriend.

Boyfriend #2 was horrible-- and I found out recently (I haven’t seen or spoken to him in 19 years) through Facebook that he has become not only atheist, but incredibly rude and strident about his ā€œnon-faithā€. He married a Christian woman, had several children, and divorced her-- and spends a great deal of time evidently trying to enforce his belief system on them. If his behavior has held true over the years, he only became a strident atheist in order to bully his exwife-- if he had married an agnostic, he probably wouldn’t have cared to bash religion; it wouldn’t have gained him what he saw as power in the relationship. 😦

😦 I am SO grateful that I married a kind, religious man. I can’t imagine someone trying to turn my kids away from God. Sorry to ramble on about that, but I can’t help feeling so grateful that I didn’t marry that one.

Wow, reading all these awesome ā€œhe was my first boyfriend…and then he became my husband!ā€ stories sure makes me wish I’d come to the Faith a whoooole lot sooner. Consider yourselves blessed šŸ‘

I was 21. We met my freshman year of college at the Newman Center. He was a junior. He wanted to date me then. I wasn’t interested, although I was attracted to him. I thought I had my life planned out and did not want to get myself seriously involved with anyone at that point. We became friends. My junior year and his first year of graduate school, God had different plans. Friendship continued and deepened into love. He is now my husband. šŸ™‚

My husband and I married at 18 yrs.old. We were each others first. We have been married for 33 yrs.šŸ™‚
