I would add that that certainly seems true of Luther and Calvin!
The choice at it’s base was to either obey God or disobey God, wasn’t it?She/He were misled into believing that God had withheld something good from them.
These choices will be disordered unless the intellect is enlighted and the will is subject to the intellect.
In essence the choice was between life and death. Adam freely chose death. The choice at it’s base was to either obey God or disobey God, wasn’t it?
Exactly. In essence the choice was between life and death. Adam freely chose death.
God bless,
Michael
Okay.In essence the choice was between life and death. Adam freely chose death.

Free Will.Okay.
But what would cause him to choose sin?
Curiosity and pride.Okay.
But what would cause him to choose sin?
I’m interested in your answer to this question.Okay.
But what would cause him to choose sin?
My answer is simple.I’m interested in your answer to this question.
God Bless,
Michael
It answers the question as you put if perfectly. My answer is simple.
I don’t know.
I’ve read various answers by theologians of all persuasions and most of the answers are, IMHO inadequate.
Simply stating that Adam had free will doesn’t really answer the question.
So your definition of “completely depraved” = “unable to come to saving faith without God”?Scripture teaches that man is completely depraved since, and unable to come to saving faith without God. Thats why Calvinists believe that man can not come to a saving faith without God.
Scripture bears witness that the Calvinist position is indeed true.
HiAdam had free will and could choose to disobey God, and did.
A) Where does it say he repented?Hi
Adam being a human being did make a mistake, but since he repented and was forgiven by GodAllahYHWH, it won’t be called a sin. He never committed a sin.
Thanks
Adam was not the first human being, he was the first person with whom GodAllahYHWH had a direct conversation, there were humans beings men/woman before Adam and Eve.
But it assures that Adam is personally responsible for his sin. The alternative would be that God caused him to sin. That’s an unacceptable alternative.Simply stating that Adam had free will doesn’t really answer the question.
If we don’t have free will life is simply pointless. But it assures that Adam is personally responsible for his sin. The alternative would be that God caused him to sin. That’s an unacceptable alternative.
God Bless,
Michael
Furthermore, if we don’t have free will, we don’t have love, and we all know how love is emphasized in sacred scripture. If we don’t have free will life is simply pointless.
That is an excellent point—I’ve never made that connection before.Furthermore, if we don’t have free will, we don’t have love, and we all know how love is emphasized in sacred scripture.
