When did a Mormon prophet start having to submit his revelations to the church for approval?

So, church members have to let a prophet know which of God’s revelations are true?!
No. The revelations are submitted to the Church for acceptance. The guiding principle is that of “Common Consent”. For more information please see Common Consent - The Encyclopedia of Mormonism

Church members have more power than the prophet and even God?!

Of course, not.
Do LDS believe they are already saints just by being members of the LDS Church or is sainthood a goal to be attained through various means?
Eternal Life is the goal that the Latter-day Saints seek. The term “Saints” is pretty much synonymous with “members”.

Please refute where CARM gets it wrong about Mormonism in the link I provided.

Like Dr. Phil says “If you are so sure of your position (on whatever it is you are claiming) then you should have no problem putting it up for others to question”

That’s what I would do if I was on a non-Catholic forum and someone posted the link you provided.

Besides, the post was meant for @lokisuperfan. She needs to study and decide for herself if the differences are true. (Funny how she has “suddenly” stopped responding to my posts and you are instead. Hmmm)

Implying? I’m stating a fact that gazelam has answered for you.

I have a question for you.

Are you currently in touch with any LDS missionaries or do you share information on this thread with anyone who is LDS? Either in person or via the internet?

My LDS friend, since I’m not allowed to go to the church, is going to pass letters along for me to one of the missionaries so I can ask questions. I’ll give the letter to him on Monday. If you have any questions to suggest, I’d be happy to include them in my letter.

Please define the difference between approval and acceptance.

Was common consent used by the LDS during the time of B. Young?

If God is speaking, why would his message first need to be accepted by church members before…what?.. believing what God said?

Should Moses have allowed the People of Israel to decide whether or not to accept the Ten Commandments? I’m sure they, and we, would have liked to throw out the ones we didn’t like.

Please define saint.
Is sainthood a goal or have LDS already achieved sainthood just by being a member of the LDS Church?

Why not just use email or the many other ways the missionaries engage prospects?

I don’t want to give out my personal email or phone number to strangers, especially since I’m 14.

Well, that is a smart way to go.

The LDS missionaries or others here on CAF may use PM to talk with prospective converts on the side. Beware of anyone that wants to keep you from discussing religion or asking questions no matter what religion they are.

I’m glad to see you are back and hope to have further conversations with you.

I’ve been here all along, I’ve just been much too busy with homework to engage in religious debate.

Hopefully, you have the time to read the links that have been provided for you even if you don’t have time to respond.

No religion should have anything to hide so it’s always a good idea to study the good and the bad.

Interesting. Would you say then, they are trying to preserve the freedom to live a Mormon lifestyle rather than trying to preserve the constitution for all Americans? And they are conflating the two?

(I’m not sure how well I phrased my question)

I read the one about the difference between Catholic teachings and those of the CoJCoLDS, and I am already aware about all those differences. Was there another article I missed, or was that the only one?

Glad to hear that you are staying focuses on your school studies, Sarah

Clearly, you are an intelligent and mature young lady. Hope your semester is a successful one! 🙂

Good Luck with your classes

Do you have an understanding of what those differences really mean?

(There’s lots more that will be coming so stay tuned!)

I think so. But like I said, I’m sending a letter to a missionary, so I’ll better understand after I get a reply from them.

One question I’ve always had about Catholicism: Where in the Bible does it say that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the same divine being (as in Trinitarianism)? I’ve been looking for that for a while and I haven’t been successful in finding any evidence.

It’s very nice to hear of a teenager honoring their parents wishes and not contacting LDS missionaries via email etc and using good ol’ pen and paper!

Before we get into the teaching regarding the Trinity, I will revisit a question I asked you a while ago that went unanswered.

Do you believe that Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism?

Do you believe in the importance of historical continuity when it comes to understanding Judeo-Christian religion?
