that really makes zero sense and I’m sure i’ve heard the “no eye has seen, no ear has heard…what awaits for those who believe in him.” To paraphrase. Thus just making it to Heaven seem reward enough and it would be impossible to have “levels” or “degrees” in Heaven.

Again, I direct you to Christ himself, who makes references to the varying degrees of one’s reward in heaven.

Crack open your Bible and meditate on the passage, rather than just merely objecting.

I am meditating and I’d be more than happy to be in the absolutely worst apartment in Heaven than the alternative. After all, maybe my friends in the penthouse can invite me over for some angelic music 🙂

Christ also talks about the worker who starts work in the final hour of the workday receiving the same pay as the one who started first thing in the morning. So we really don’t know … and I venture to say we really won’t care or be jealous of such things in heaven anyway.

There is a bit of controversy over his burial plot, right next to Marilyn Monroe. Apparently, he acquired the rights to some of her pictures that she didn’t want used, and included them in the first issue of playboy. She never even met him.

Years after her death, he bought the plot next to hers for bragging purposes that he’d spend eternity with Marilyn Monroe.

May he rest in peace, at least no one reads his magazine now, some kids TV channels are worse than the porn that he somehow initiated

How do I argue against what this man stood for with my friends (and some of them are female) who are mourning his passing?
Generally, in the wake of someone’s passing, it is not the best time to get into a debate with those who are genuinely mourning the person.

I think the main thing would be to avoid overly scathing declarations that he is in hell. We don’t know that. Only God knows that. We pray for everyone’s conversion, even if it’s at the eleventh hour (and 59 minutes and 59 seconds). Jesus came to suffer and die for everyone, including Hugh Hefner.

I think his life’s work can and should be criticized strongly and in no uncertain terms. Whether now is the time to do that is a judgment call based on who you are talking to. In general, I’m always a bit perplexed by how personally some people take the deaths of celebrities. So depending upon the person, it may be better to hold off and return to the conversation later. Or if you feel like you can criticize his work without coming across as judging the state of his soul at the moment of death, you might proceed with caution.

Is Hugh Hefner in Hell?

“It’s not for me, or anyone to determine that. Any soul, at any time, up to the last moment may experience the grace of repentance and faith. He was ninety one. In his final years of old age did he have regrets? Did he turn to the light? We don’t know. We can hope.”

That’s a good blog post

It’s strange. I cried when Michael Jackson died then Robin Williams. That’s the only two. It’s not good to get too sucked into celebrity life. You don’t know them. If their work shaped your childhood it’s hard not to feel sad.

I think the title to the NewYork times title might be misleading. There might be that many cases of STD, but I don’t think it’s one case =1 patient. One patient may have herpes and something else. Or one patient might have contracted an std twice in the same year.

I can only hope God has mercy on him. As for what he stood for? That sort of thing was going to happen with or without him, he just chose be a part of it.
