Please pray for all of the Texas Gulf coast residents currently under mandatory evacuation, that they have a save departure, and find shelter during Hurricane Ike. Please also pray for those of us who are choosing to stay off the roads and hunker down at home, that we may be protected from harm. Pray for all our emergency service personnel and for all the sick who are in hospital dependent on electricity, that their lives will not be further endangered by this hurricane.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Amen!
My parents and grandparents are under mandatory evac and headed out of town this morning. My grandmother is on oxygen and requires a wheelchair. My father is sick with a severe and painful GI infection and was supposed to see the dr today about surgery, but the appt was canceled. Prayers that they and other evacuees are safely and swiftly reaching their destinations and not stuck on the road when the weather strikes, that their points of refuge remain safe, and that all those who are not evacuating remain safe and do not endanger rescue workers, especially those who have been asked to stay back to allow those in more risky areas to leave first.

Your intentions will be in my prayers.***

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen

Me too! We are in Ft. Bend county and have been instucted to “shelter in place” but it is supposed to still be a cat 3 when it gets to us. I am alone with the kids and very scared.

Will pray for all in the path of Ike. Many Forum members I am sure are down there and can’t access this site. So, let’s say a quick prayer for them too…

In fact, CAF member jollyoki is among those hunkered down in Houston … pray that the electricity stays on so her breathing machine will work.

Praying for all in Houston, especially for those mentioned in this thread.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Our Father Who are in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trepass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

You all are in our prayers tonight. My children are even saying prayers for all of you. Stay safe and don’t worry with God on your side what is there to fear.😃

God Bless and Your in our prayers.👍

Praying for jollyoki, there are four million without power. Thanks be to God my family still has power, we have been so blessed. We lost two windows and have a large tree branch down in the yard, but no major damage. I pray the power is restored soon for everyone.

… Hello BeeSweet,

Good to hear that you’re weathering the storm with comparatively minor damage. 🙂

Thanks for your prayers. Can’t get through on the phone to jollyoki today, am pretty sure her power is down. One ray of hope so far is at least it’s been reported that running water is still available.

Continuing prayers …

Praying for those suffering through the storm and loss of power, especially for those like jollyoki who depend on electrical power for their medical safety.
Lord God, have mercy on them and provide a quick restoration of power.

Prayers promised

Also, I have two daughters who live in the Houston area with their families. One in Galveston Co, another in Ft. Bend. The one who lives in Galveston Co, is staying with me with her children. Her husband is a first responder with EMS for Houston. They have major damage to their home in Friendswood. He has advised us by phone this morning from the field that the death toll will be high as bodies are already being recovered. The other just has no power and are on the way to San Antonio.

Please keep them and all others in the Houston Area in prayer. It will be a long haul.

Louisiana has also gotten quite a bit of flooding. Kay, a friend of mine, has mom, brothers and sisters in Lake Charles. They lost their homes in Katrina, rebuilt, and all their houses are now under 10 feet of water from Ike. They evacuated to Little Rock and now face returning to another heartbreak.

Please add the priests, deacons, families and parishioners of the below Houston parishes to your prayers.

Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church
The roof was torn off and the church is severely damaged. No further information right now.

Protection of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church
Trees are all down around the church and debris is floating down the flooded roads. People can’t get in or out of the parish. They’re without power, gas, and Internet but currently have enough water and food in the parish house. Liturgy canceled this weekend.

St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church
The church is without power but currently has gas and water. No further information right now.

Ge’ez, Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara Catholics
No information right now.
