I was not trying to be abnoxious. Just a simple question. Was jesus lying when he said a believers prayers would be answered?
Are you telling me that you are being obnoxious without trying?😃

Hi

So, do you actually see, feel and smell him. Just curious. How does he smell? šŸ™‚
Jesus smells like roses, urine, feces, fear, Jesus smells like the people I meet in life that are in need of love and I respond to.

Jesus smells like that person that responds to me when I am in need.

After awhile you get to know that smell like a woman knows the smell of her husbands dirty shirt as he goes off to war, and does not wash it for fear of missing that part of him forever.

Hi

You asked me what i would take as evidence. If you pray that god teraforms the moon like earth in six days it should come true because jesus said your prayers would be answered.

If this happened i would not think it was a natural phenomeon. You asked what i would take as evidence and i would take this as evidence.

Of course this is not going to happen because your prayer is not going to come true. You can qoute scripture till the cows come home and it still isn’t evidence.
Hear Yee Hear Yee,

Let it be from the lips of '" IKDDAV" that he believes no evidence unless he does personally see’s, feel, touch.hear. or smells.

That is from this point now he posts any evidence that he has not been fully involved with in all the senses then refer him back to this thread.

For if he says the weather man states it snowed in New York City Yesterday, that he has pictures, and witness testimony,or even the snow itself that he is not to be taken seriously.

For use his definition of evidence in agreement with him as he has given it.

Now do you want to answer the question.

I can’t buy booze on sunday because god doesn’t like it. What if they past a law that no one could shop on saturday because Thor didn’t like it. How would you feel about that? Would that be scary??

Hi 659
You still didn’t answer my question.
Protestants made such Blue Laws not Catholics so I am not a Protestant am in no position nor do I want to defend their customs.

By the way I have never had any problems buying anything I wanted in my life when I wanted to buy it.

If I wanted to drink alcohol after 2 am in Florida I would buy a bottle before 2 am.

I do not think though bars closing by State Law at 2am has anything to do with Religion.

So what about when I prayed to God to take my friend’s cancer away/make it disappear or be benign and the VERY NEXT DAY part of the cancer disappears and the other part is declared benign… You would say that’s just a natural phenomenon…
How do you know which god took the cancer away? Was it the same one who put it there to begin with, or a different one?

Because it’s not just her happiness we’re concerned about it’s also the happiness and life of her baby. A scientifically accepted human being. And no one said we had to be unhappy, but that happiness on this earth isn’t our main goal.
Once again, she gets to decide what happens inside her own body. Just one more reason I am happy that the RCC does not have more influence in my country.

Scripture is one of the few things in life that cannot be exhausted in terms of its beauty, breadth, depth, meaning, and power. You can only appreciate this if you understand what it is and what it is not. It’s not a child’s fairy tale as you seem to suggest.
Once again, Pax, it looks to me like you are saying that if you don’t believe it before you read it, then you won’t understand it properly.

If that is the case, what is there to convince me to believe that book?

Remember, to me it looks like any other book…

That is certainly one thing that I did not say or suggest.

Our God proved himself to be the only God numerous times. One example would be in Egypt during the Exodus. Those plagues were based upon Egyptian gods. For example, the egyptians worshipped the Nile, God turned it to blood; they worship frogs and it was on pain of death if they killed one, God sent hundreds of thousands of frogs to lie in their beds, in their food ect. God’s telling the Egyptians, ā€œyou want gods… I’ll show you what a real God can do! Don’t believe me yet??? Here’s more proof- come on Egyptians, what will it take for you to believe!!!ā€

That’s only one example. Besides, I’m pretty sure if it was a different God who granted my request, he/she wouldn’t want it done in another God’s name… I mean give credit where credit’s due! I didn’t call on some random God. I didn’t ask Zeus or Hera. I asked the one true God.

If science says it’s a human being (which it does) then killing it is murder. She doesn’t have to KEEP the baby once it’s born, in fact it might be better in many circumstances to give it up. But what you’re condoning is killing a human being, Science agrees. That’s why it’s murder. She does gt to decide what goes on in her own body, sure… but this means accepting responsibility for poor choices too. If she’s not ready to have babies, she shouldn’t have sex. End of story.

I should mention that just because God answered several of my prayers doesn’t mean I should expect him to answer yes to all of them or even in a timely manner. The ones he’s answered has proven to *me *that he exists and hears me. But I can’t expect him to bend and cater to my every will no matter how hard I pray. Sometimes what’s best for me is not getting what I ask for. That said, I have no reasons to doubt him given my previous examples.

How ā€œtolerantā€ are you folks (the atheists here) at being called self-contradicting hyper-religious ā€œanti-not-your-religionā€-ists?

Also known as fascist would-be slavemasters of mankind?

Just curious.

I don’t know for sure (due to lack of clarity in your post) if you are aiming to insult me, though, you should report yourself to the moderators.
It’s the right thing to do.
Hah ha ha ha ha…! It’s a great thing to know that a least you are exhibiting the usual odd-ball humor of the typical atheist!

Although, if you are so easy to insult, and actually would be so ā€œsensitive like a baby’s bottomā€ as to want to prohibit the wider audience here from hearing opinions of honest observations of ā€œfanatically religiously-fervent atheistsā€, then the usual fascistic behavior of the typical atheist is well demonstrated in you. šŸ™‚

Belief gets in the way of learning.
Uh, learning REQUIRES belief my friend!

What is hypothesis if not ā€œbeliefā€?

Seriously, is that necessary!!! I have several atheist friends and they’re good people. If you’re here to prove a point, then go ahead and do it. But this type of talk isn’t helping…

If you recall, I stated that I am quite fully capable of learning and believing at the same time. Thus proving that believing does not inhibit learning.

I agree. That isn’t the way to start a conversation… Especially if they call themselves Christian.
Really!? šŸ™‚

And why not? I’d rather like to get the cards on the table right off the bat, and see if honesty is of value to the atheist, and not just the usual hiding behind ā€œChristians being niceā€ and ā€œatheists being mocking and illogicalā€ being valued as the ā€œrules of engagementā€ for the recreational mocker that is the average, or even exceptional, atheist.

Before that I was embarrassed to practice my faith in public. To talk about God. Would stand by and let others say as they pleased about Christ as I did not want to allow myself to be rediculed.

Then one day the Holy Spirit came a visiting to me and life has never been the same.

I just pray you may one day have this same joy.

Well, I get plenty of joy without the invisible friend, but I appreciate the sentiment.
But you DO have an invisible friend!

What is it that gives you joy in beauty and truth? That is from your invisible friend.

What is it that gives you joy in being ā€œbadā€? That is from another of your invisible so-called ā€œfriendsā€.

The tricky bit is telling the difference between the first and the second, which you have no true measure by which to compare and discern. What is your basis for considering one ā€œsuggestionā€ or interpretation of a stimulus as ā€œgoodā€ and another as ā€œbadā€?
