Sorry for the double. Why is that odd?A very clear description of hell, and still no robust description of heaven…odd, isn’t it?

Your insults show your character, and I hope you continue.Your “6 year old” understanding is very common, even among under-educated Catholics, but it is quite wrong.
ALL of them. You claim a book as evidence, so do they.I’m going to again ask you to back up your assertion… even though… again… I know you won’t do it. Man, my motivation is slipping so badly, I almost lost consciousness typing that sentence.
Which invented gods are similar to YHWH/Jehovah/Jesus? In what respects are they similar?
You may have thought those “black rectangles” in the “running naked fight with my naked assistant” scene were too big, but you would be WRONG!Quote:

I never said that the universe needs a cause. I think it’s rational to suppose an uncaused universe. I believed it for years. What makes you able to say that the start of the universe needs a cause, yet your god does not?
Do you have some bit of knowledge you have not shared with me, or is this another thing which can only be known by internal feelings?
That’s absurd. Zeus never claimed to have created the universe. He inherited it from the Titans. My greek mythology is a bit rusty, but I think the Titans just stumbled across it.ALL of them. You claim a book as evidence, so do they.
What differences do you see? Not imagine or feel, but see?
As a kid, I was told it was torture, eternally. The bible itself describes it as a ‘furnace of fire’.I’m sorry you were given wrong information as a child. That really is a tragedy.
But to assert that the current church teachings are watered down, you would have to demonstrate that those stories accurately reflected the church teachings of the times. You have not made any attempt to do so.
The catechism says that hell is a separation from God. Are you claiming it said something different in your youth? If so, let’s hear what it said, and let’s discuss it.
Why would the authors of the bible put so much care and detail into a ‘hell’ definition, yet not offer details of heaven?Sorry for the double. Why is that odd?
What exactly do you mean here? I have only seen the previews. You may have thought those “black rectangles” in the “running naked fight with my naked assistant” scene were too big, but you would be WRONG!
It cost me a FORTUNE to CGI out my “exceeding manliness” which extended past what audiences would accept as “realistic” in that scene!
There isn’t’ that much care and detail in the hell definition. There are a couple places where it says that it involves fire. A couple where it says darkness. Why would the authors of the bible put so much care and detail into a ‘hell’ definition, yet not offer details of heaven?
What need of assuming a god if the universe is uncaused? It is glaringly clear that he does not interact with observable reality in any measurable way…I never said that the universe needs a cause. I think it’s rational to suppose an uncaused universe. I believed it for years.
What I said is that God does not need a cause, because you asked what His cause was.
All of them. If you have something to present which you think makes your god more likely to be true, lets see it!That’s absurd. Zeus never claimed to have created the universe. He inherited it from the Titans. My greek mythology is a bit rusty, but I think the Titans just stumbled across it.
Similarly for Norse myths - no Norse god claims be transcendant to the universe. They’re just big and powerful.
So let me repeat. Which invented gods do you think have similar attributes to our God?
No it isn’t.What need of assuming a god if the universe is uncaused? It is glaringly clear that he does not interact with observable reality in any measurable way…
OK… so which attributes of your old favorite, Zeus, are similar to the Christian God?All of them. If you have something to present which you think makes your god more likely to be true, lets see it!
God is a fact to us because He is proven to exist by empirical proof of His existence from a source which you will not accept as a valid source.Quote:

When you say that the existence of your god is a fact, you are claiming your faith is knowledge. It is not.
You misunderstand “faith” to mean whatever it is that you think it means which would make faith and knowledge mutually exclusive. If you had knowledge, you would not need faith. If the existence of your god was a fact, it would have evidence other than feelings.
We are constantly looking to disprove God. That is a rather well kept open secret of the Church!Quote:

I guess I stop one unfounded assumption before you do.
That you would take that as an insult tells me how “adult” you actually are.Quote:
