This is too sick for words. Perhaps the b**** across the road from me who has murdered 2 of her babies might like 1-must ask- forgot, im no longer talking to her. God Bless. Sue.
Thank God, Jesus didn’t follow the Pharisees example when it came to Mary Magdalane. We would have been denied one the greatest conversion stories ever. He did not wait to love her until after she repented. It was His Love first that inspired her repentance.
I understand how one could be tempted to hate someone who did something so horrible. I hated myself for years. But that is not God’s way. We are called to love as He loves, ahem … even the sinners.
God bless.

Since my last post I have come across more crude t-shirts. In my very humble opinion these t-shirts, along with bumper stickers and other ephemeral public displays are just pathethic efforts by desperate persons to get attention. The normal response to shocking, in-your-face displays is a complete rejection of the person as someone to be accorded any kind of intellectual respect.

This is true of even milder statements. I saw one that read, “Everybody has to believe in something; I believe I’ll have another beer!” This conveys a message that the wearer really isn’t interested in any serious thought.

There may be a place for shocking displays - e.g. corpses at Auschwitz - but even these have to be very carefully handled to avoid offense.

My bottom line on this is to view whatever is displayed and draw your opinons from it. Probably your gut will give you correct answers.

I am an Atheist, so I don’t look at this from a Christian perspective, But I am against abortion (and the death penalty, for that matter). I find those shirts to be sickening, and akin to proudly wearing a t-shirt that says “I am a child molester” it is nothing to be proud of. I think that this will backfire on PP in a major way, and heads will roll (personel wise) there.

Especially the sinners, for whom he died. He died for me! Deo gratias.

Hi there, I know that many Christians don’t realize that a fair number of atheists are pro-life – esepcially since this life is all one has – from your perspective.

Thanks for giving your POV. It is good to know there are pro-life people in every sector of humanity. 👍

I hope you’re right about it backfiring on PP.

About being an atheist, are you sure?

Maybe, you just don’t want to be associated with so many of us christians who don’t “walk the talk.” I try to walk it but suffer from all the familiar human foibles, falls and follies. (One of them being an inordinate love of alliteration.)

I just read this yesterday and had never seen it put this way so I pass it on.

If you want to discuss it, PM me, as it would be kind of OT here.

I see Abortion as the most selfish thing a person can do. I hear the girls saying “I can’t afford to bring up a baby”. When Adoption is sugested I hear “Oh, I could never give up my baby”.
HUH!!!:bigyikes::bigyikes::bigyikes: You couldn’t give up your baby but you could Kill it? What completly twisted logic.:banghead:

"They have finally arrived!

Planned Parenthood is proud to offer yet another t-shirt in our new social fashion line: “I Had an Abortion” fitted T-shirts are now available. These soft and comfortable fitted tees assert a powerful message in support of women’s rights."

Does anybody find it ironic that a group called “Planned Parenthood” would produce a T-shirt sponsoring the unfortunate outcome of what is usually an unplanned pregnancy?

Perhaps we should counter with a T-shirt carrying the message:

“Your mother didn’t have an abortion”

John.

Wonderful! I wish I could afford to buy a bunch and give them out at church…The young moms would love them, for sure.

I know what you mean…wish I had the money also…
Still…its so good to see that t shirt istead of the horrible abortion one…

This thread, and most of the responses really blew my mind. So many, in fact, that I couldn’t possibly respond to them all, but the key points were pretty consistant. Basically, everyone is getting all upset over a t-shirt. A piece of cloth with some words on it… grow up. I am sure you don’t agree with what it says, but why does that compell you to want to say something to this person, or even more laughable talk them into some kind of conversion? And why all the anti-pc (in essence anit-american) propaganda? If you think we have too much freedom here then leave, no one is forcing you to stay. This notion that “the devil” is at work thru his t-shirts and gay marriage is ridiculous. The best part was that some of you were actually mad at the people wearing the shirt (why not fire-bomb them like a PP clinic? that’ll teach em how prolife you are!) There are tons of REAL issues in the world, why not get mad about them? There are plenty of people that WERE born that have troubles, why not fight for them? Are you prolife until the moment of birth then they are on they’re own? It is a cop-out to focus on this, because the arguments generally go: what about that child, he could have grown to have a wonderful life…and he could have been the next hitler, this kind of speculative argument doesn’t prove anything. Granted, it seems harsh to kill these “children” but you are really only personifying a mass of tissues with no memories or sense of self. There are people that suffer and that do have a sense of self and memories but they seem to go unnoticed, why not get enraged over poverty or unfit living conditions…because that is something you could actually help, and it is much easier to get involved with this issue because it requires no personal commitment; once the child is born they are on their own…all you have to do is protest and you feel you are doing good in this world by ostricizing people. So think about that the next time you step over a homeless guy to get to your prolife rally.

Right now…I’m thinking of a good receipe for TROLL stew…

I agree with the post 2 above mine. Its a t-shirt! i dont like the fact that someone would wear something like that…im not esp. anti-abortion but i dont think its sometihng to flaunt…however…get over it! I dont like abortion but i recognize that we need to fight for the people who are born and not concentrate so much time on the unborn. As Catholics why dont you go out and help others instead of ranting and raving about abortion.

Hmmmmmmmm Yum yum
What about siamese cat troll stew… 👍

Amazing how many people think that ranting and raving mean you don’t go out and work too…

It is “just a shirt” but words are powerful and this shirt has a motivation that is below contempt. The murder of children in the womb is not “just words” it is a horrible thing. What you see here is not outrage over a shirt or wanting to curb free speech-- what you see is outrage that anyone would be so callus as to be proud of having had their child’s life ended in an abortionists office.

Ranting and raving? Ummm … okay. There were only two posts that were ranting. Yours and wormwoods. We are speaking about abortion because that is the topic of this thread. Didn’t you read the title? So, if the topic of this thread was “poverty” or the “homeless” would you than accuse us of not caring about the slaughter of the unborn? You guys are going off topic. If you would like to discuss poverty or homelessness, then start a thread. Catholics are known for their devotion to the poor. God bless.

This is one horrendous understatement, followed by PP propaganda that is used to camouflage the truth of a living being already here.

I repeat:

There are people that suffer and that do have a sense of self and memories
Many of the people who are among these people are the other victims of abortion…the would-have been mothers. Women who have had abortions suffer longer than their aborted babies did…

For the reality of the issue:

So should black people be ‘grown up’ and not be upset when someone wears a racist t-shirt?
I am sure you don’t agree with what it says, but why does that compell you to want to say something to this person, or even more laughable talk them into some kind of conversion?
If you saw someone wearing a racist t-shirt, wouldn’t you want to try and make them understand that racism is wrong?
And why all the anti-pc (in essence anit-american) propaganda? If you think we have too much freedom here then leave, no one is forcing you to stay.
Oh Please, PC is anti-american. Instead of African-American or Asian American I think it should be American of African or Asian Descent. You are an american first, after all. But I stray OT.
This notion that “the devil” is at work thru his t-shirts and gay marriage is ridiculous. The best part was that some of you were actually mad at the people wearing the shirt (why not fire-bomb them like a PP clinic? that’ll teach em how prolife you are!)
Would you be mad at someone wearing a racist t-shirt? What’s wrong with us being mad at this t-shirt, as it is anethama (sp?) to our values (just as a racist t-shirt would be).

BTW, You have freedom of speach, but not freedom from criticism. You can say what you want, but I have as much of a right to say how stupid/immoral/ecetera it is.
There are tons of REAL issues in the world, why not get mad about them?
Who says we don’t? The thread is about abortion, any other issue would be OT. Check other threads for the topics you want covered. If there aren’t any, feel free to start some.
Again, who says we don’t?
Granted, it seems harsh to kill these “children” but you are really only personifying a mass of tissues with no memories or sense of self.
Okay, Let me put it this way: My wife is currently pregnant. Now in many states if I beat the snot out of her until she miscarries the baby, All I can be charged with is assault, as the child is not considered to be a person. Most Pro-choice people (as far as I can see) are for this. However, The same people would be calling for my head (esspecialy if they belong to PETA) if I were to climb up to a Califonia Condor nest and start flinging eggs out of it, killing the unborn chicks.
Well, the Catholic church near my home has a homeless shelter right on the church grounds, It also has a food pantry, and a Medical and Dental clinic on the grounds as well. This is all for people who cannot afford it. Your bigotry, and that IS what you are displaying here, is pretty noticable. Either that or you are living under a toll bridge.
