His book is what the thread is about, not what other’s tell you Fr Martin says.

I read Fr. Martin’s tweets. I’m subscribed to him.

I was initially responding to your post that said
too read Building A Bridge, and most people misunderstand Fr Martin’s agenda.

They think he’s pushing the Church to accept homosexual acts, he’s not.
The problem, is a lot of his Tweets paint a different picture (or at least appear to paint a different picture). If he would stop sending out controversial tweets and actually take time time to explain what he means instead of attacking people who disagree or misunderstand him, maybe he would get something done. Maybe then, more people would read his book.

But he doesn’t do that, like Trump, he has become very polarizing on Twitter.

On the other hand, I think Fr. Mike is doing a great job explaining the Church’s teaching and teaching acceptance of people who have same sex attraction without making it seem like we should accept homosexual acts.

God bless

I follow Fr Martin’s posts on Facebook.

I never saw him contradict Church teaching.

Most of our “communities” revolve around a shared interest or activity.
Or shared life experiences.

Cancer support groups are very important for many people with cancer. While friend sand family can love and support you, someone who has not experienced cancer will “get it” in a way that your cancer free friends simply cannot.

with truth, and love:
Joh 8:3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst
Joh 8:4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery.
Joh 8:5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such. What do you say about her?”
Joh 8:6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.
Joh 8:7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Joh 8:8 And once more he bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.
Joh 8:9 But when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.
Joh 8:10 Jesus looked up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
Joh 8:11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again.”

Your comment made me think of a question that has never occurred to me in the past.

There are subgroups of humans as countless as grains of sand on the beach. I am sure that many subgroups would like society to recognize them as a separate class or tribe. What is it specifically about sexual orientation/gender in general that would give rise to it forming communities that society itself recognizes and affords special rights and privileges?

Is it a matter of the sexual orientation/gender subgroup having superior lobbyists who tell a better story, (their voices rise above others) or is there some special unique quality that the members of the group share that cause society to view them differently than the red hair club, the vegetarian club or the monogamous club?
It’s never been illegal to be vegetarian or have red hair. There’s never been a “red hair panic” as a legal defence against murdering gingers (look up “gay panic”). People aren’t regularly murdered for being vegetarian.

Not sure how? Be kind, be respectful, seems straight forward to me. What needs clarifying?

Very true. And a “community” organized around an objectively disordered sexual inclination–where do they fit in?

Not objectively. It’s the churches opinion, yes. But not objective.

Maybe for you since you are using your own definition.
