I have been married for 5 yrs, my husband and I got married outside the church and I am now returning to my faith. He is not catholic and has no intentions of ever becoming one, which is ok. He has watched porn since he was 13. We have had several conversations about this and how it makes me feel as a woman. He claims he has stopped the past 2-3 months because I threatened our marriage if it didn’t stop. He doesn’t understand though why I feel the way I do and claims that all men do it and its natural!! Is is true?? I am especially looking for male (name removed by moderator)ut here.

I would say a majority of men with internet access watch porn. It is a hard habit to break. Some women are OK with it, some are not. As for watching porn being natural…no, its not. Masturbating though seems to be pretty natural…not that it makes it right, but it is natural.

Also, kind of odd, I think there is a thread from a little while back that has pretty much the same title.

I have a friend whom when his now wife explained to him how his porn viewing made her feel he stopped viewing it. To my knowledge he has been clean for almost two yrs. He is a non pratising Catholic with no intentions of returning to the unity of the fold.
I have other friends who have no use for porn and don’t view it.

I think it depends on what you mean by “all men” and “watch porn.” I assume by “all men” you mean the vast majority of American men. As for “watch porn”:

Do “all men” watch porn regularly? No.

Do “all men” watch porn occasionally? This is difficult to answer. The Internet has made porn so readily accessible that lots of men watch porn now and then. But are they the vast majority? I have no idea.

Have “all men” watched porn at some point in their lives? I think so, nowadays.

.

You should really watch this video:

Yes, it’s hosted by MTV, however Dr. Drew Pinsky is not a crackpot in the slightest. He’s extremely concerned about the way internet porn is effecting our society.

I’m a woman, but all my ex-boyfriends have watched it, and 99% of my male friends watch it. But it doesn’t bug me at all.

One in six people 1/6 (on the planet) dont watch porn on a regular basis or have never watched it… the same dont have enough to eat being the main reason, since 1/6 people are starving or dont get enough to eat.

Pornography on the internet is a rich mans problem…

**So far I like your answer best. I don’t think its right to categorically place even “most” men watching porn. I mean what does pigeonholing the majority of men watching porn say for those men who don’t give a damn about porn? **

**Porn dehumanizes both women and men collectively. **

Atleast one man does not.

Most men don’t regularly watch porn but most men have seen porn.

I hate to say it but I do watch porn 4-5 times a week:blush:but I’ve stopped since I joined this forum a few days ago.

Some people have that desire and some people don’t.

I do think it’s natural for some people to be attracted to it but that still doesn’t make it right though.

Don’t be hard on your husband though because it really is a struggle.

I do not watch Porn and have no interest in it.

My personal feeling is that it hurts the woman very much even if she does not say anything.

I feel that a man who really cherishes his wife and loves her from the bottom of his Heart will not watch Porn.

I agree with this post. I think that seems reasonable. I have viewed porn before with my husband…years ago, when we were first married. It was something we just ‘‘did,’’ as fun…or whatever. It wasn’t harmful at the time, but let me tell you, and I’m a woman saying this…those images are very damaging to one’s mind. They taint the gift of sex that God gave to us. If you are viewing porn on a regular basis, please, I ask you to stop so you can restore your mind to a healthy viewing of sexuality…I was a virgin, and rather innocent when I married, so if it could happen to me, it can happen to others. My husband and I have not viewed that junk in ages. But, I will STILL say…those images pop up every now and again, and it’s like…ugh, I don’t want to think this!!! I don’t dwell on them, but I’m here to say, this is why porn is so damaging. It just seeps into one’s mind like a cancer, spreads and takes over. Please don’t think it is ‘‘just nothing,’’ it’s definitely a tool of the devil. 😦 Just my two cents!

Langdell, sorry, I should have separated my other reply in a separate post. That post was just to everyone viewing the thread. lol :o

As guy and only speaking for personal experience, I Do sometime watch porn but I never do when I’m involved with a romatic intrest. Men in gereral want a woman to be three things 1)they want a woman bare foot and pregnant in the kitchen 2) they want a virgin in public and 3) they want a whore in the bedroom. That is just the way guys think whether they admit it or not. That is not to say they do not love they do they just want a woman to behave a certain way, to one degree or another.

Do all men watch porn? No, not all men habitually watch porn. However, i would say that the vast majortiy of men have intentionaly viewed or have been exposed to pornography at some point in their life. 😦

A study was done where they mapped the male brain with some imaging device, while the subject was watching porn. The outcome matched the brain when it was affected by Cocaine. The outcome of the study demostrated that the images and actions of “porn” release endorphines into the brain as does cocaine As difficult as it is to reverse the affects and addiction to cocaine, that same difficulty is found in porn.

A man cannot say with any certainty that “I will stop watching porn”, because of the endorphine addictive affect he has experienced, and the younger the age in which they begin, the increasing difficulty it is to overcome. His motives and intentions may be in the right place, as are an addicts, but the pull for the body to experience more endorphines is to strong. If a person truly wants to walk away from porn, they should consider a 12 step plan for addicts and join a support group with a plan of action and accountability.

They should also turn their thoughts to the Virgin Mary and request Her assistance. Go to www.queenship.org and get the book IN THE END MY IMMACULATE HEART WILL TRIUMPH and follow the 33 day prayer exercises in that book, - in between your 12 step meetings.

Depending on how you define porn, the answer to that question is probably “yes.” To one degree or another the vast majority of men, or have, viewed “porn” in one fashion or another. We are visually oriented and porn to us is very much like a romance novel with a spicy scene in it for a number of women. The thing to keep in mind at this point is that women are probably the fastest growing porn market going from barely on the scale to about 15% in the current day.

True, very true.
