- The response of St. Thomas of Aquinas in their philosophy.
- Do you know the the no. one website of the atheist?
www.ask an atheist.com?
Athiests “tend” to be rather scientifically minded. That doesn’t mean they are scientists but they tend toward that mentality. IE, they need verifiable proof, before they will believe in anything. In your opinion what do you think about Atheist’s perspective on miracles happened in Religions especially “Christian Miracles” from christ to the saints? Do they believe or have an explanations about miracles?
What’s aquina’s response to non believers? not sure I’m understanding what you are saying?Well I dont know if you can answer it but it’s okay if not.
In Church’s history one of the greatest philosopher we all know is St. Thomas of Aquinas, the one who defend that God exist from the non-believers like Aethist. Now, if you know some of his writings, what’s his response about the non believers?
thanks!
I suppose thats why some atheists believe in the crazy idea that some moral statements are logically and meaningfully true. I guess thats why some atheists believe in string theory and multi-verses even though there is no emprical verification for such concepts. I bet thats why some people believe that the world really exists outside of there mind. I am even willing to bet, that if an atheist really wants to, they will believe in something without emprical verification, aslong as it appeals to there ideological preference. Does that sound right?IE, to an athiest, you can’t simply “claim” a miracle occured nor can you"claim" there were witnesses. The miracle actually had to occur and needs to be verifiable. Claims to it, are meaningless.
That doesn’t mean miracles haven’t happened. It just means the atheist will not believe what another person tells them, unless they can prove it actually happened.
Athiests don’t usually believe what they are told. They are highly skeptical.
Aquinas is a bit difficult for beginners. Its best for you to buy morden books about Aquinas’s work. Thanks for your cooperation and kindness!
I just only want to know what does Aquinas wrote about non believers? Why should they need to believe that God exist? What are the arguments must first need to know about God’s existence according to st. Thomas?
sorry for my some wrong grammars! thanks for your patience!
Yes I’m sure! But just like what I’ve said I’m only a beginner and I encountered difficulties regarding on understanding the philosophy of Aquinas and the other philosophers. In my age right now I’m so very young but my eagerness in searching the truth can’t wait, “for my future” .Are you sure that you want to know what these arguements are?

All humans are capable of this. Believing what they want to. The difficult part, is to get all people to admit to it
Reading Aquinas is like reading a text book on religion and belief. He did admit, that one can never know for sure about any of it, but gave people certain ideas that they could use to think about the subject.
The church originally welcomed doubt and encouraged a more deeper journey into the mystery of God(with an acceptance we can never really know) a lot more than people do today.
Aquinas, tends to take the essence out of religion, and relies too much on the greek mindset that all things can be discovered by human reason and thinking alone.
Religion can’t be “reasoned” nor can religious experience be contained by words. It has to be experienced.
Why are you focusing on him?
Why spend your time arguing about something that dosen’t exist (to the philosopher) when you could instead be enjoying a nice cup of ice cream? They usually spend their time arguing against religion.
That’s an entirely different threadWhy spend your time arguing about something that dosen’t exist (to the philosopher) when you could instead be enjoying a nice cup of ice cream?
Because he is the greatest Theologian! Why are you focusing on him?
Fair enoughBecause he is the greatest Theologian!
And all people can relate on him and even a non believer can challenge to think about his works because of his logical thinking and most people in the world think that logic and religion can’t be combine but Thomas did it! That is why I focused on him!
That’s deism, if I’m not mistakenThe atheist, is simply some-one who lacks a belief in God(unless you want to define God as a natural universe
That’s an overly optimistic generalization in my opinion. I think some proportion (would be interesting to see which) of people are atheists not for the best of reasons: they haven’t given the idea of a diety a thought, or haven’t faced a convicing preacher, or just do not give thoughts to those believes at all.Athiests don’t usually believe what they are told. They are highly skeptical.
