Depends… did he say he was Jesus (geez-us) or Jesus (Hey zeus)? 😃 Just kidding!!!

If Jesus came to you and told you that He was a pencil when it (the Pencil) was consecrated by an ordained Pastor…would you believe Him and accept that the Consecrated Pencil is Him?**

Do you have any evidence that Jesus in fact did this?
Not with a pencil. 😃

Now…back to the question…

“If Jesus came to you and told you that He was a pencil when it (the Pencil)
was consecrated by an ordained Pastor…
would you believe Him and accept that the Consecrated Pencil is Him?”

No, Jesus Christ.

If He told you He was a pencil, would you doubt Him or just accept His statement without requiring Him to prove it to you?

Ok, that’s 1 so far for believing Jesus without questioning Him!

👍
Here’s two, 👍 👍

I believe that this would fall under the omnipresent, omnipotent essence of God. Protestants do not usually have a problem with this reality which is God’s essence, until that is, it is used to support Catholicism.

Now see what you started 2ndGen, this could cause the creation of another non-Catholic Christian religion. Or worse yet, our Protestant friends are going to start arguing that Catholics believe that Jesus is a pencil. :bigyikes:

Shouldn’t this be over at the back fence area?
I think he was trying to engage non-Catholic Christians on why they could believe Jesus telling them he was a pencil but they don’t believe his clear statement telling them he is in the Eucharistic bread and wine. I think he wanted to argue that they accept the Bible as truth and accept that Jesus unequivocally said that he is to be eaten as bread in John 6 but they do not follow Jesus’ command. It doesn’t look like any are around to explain. But then, Jesus predicted that in John 6, too.

48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven.
52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.
53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.
55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
56 For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed.
57 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.
58 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.
59 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever.
60 These things he said, teaching in the synagogue, in Capharnaum.
61 Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it?
62 But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you?
63 If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
64 It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life.
65 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him.
66 And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father.
67 After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him.

Hello Syele,
I think the point that 2ndGen is trying to make here, is how Catholics and some non-Catholic Christians believe that Jesus is “really present” in the Eucharist, because He said He was, and/or because He can and he (2ndGen) is just using a little levity to express this point.

This also addresses the belief or disbelief in God (Jesus) as omnipresent and omnipotent.
I think this is relevant here, as it addresses a fundamental difference in belief between Catholics and some non-Catholic Christians.
Sorry 2ndGen
, I hope I didn’t ruin the surprise.😊

Thank you Woodstock, this too…good point…

This thread is stupid and quite possibly an attack against Catholics for adoring the Holy Eucharist.

Infact there is no reason to not believe but what you will say if yes i believe that…

If Jesus was studying with me and took a pencil, broke it, and handed it to me and said, “This is my body, given up for you. Do this, as often as you study, in remembrance of me.” I would say, “Okay, I don’t understand it, but you have the words of eternal life. Where else could I go?”

Okay, so I know I spliced the Last Supper with John 6, but you get what I’m saying, right?:o

I have not read all the posts. I am just looking at the above quote. It is a wrong question. It is a big IF. i.e. If the questioner could prove that Jesus could one day come and say such a thing then the catholics are bound to reply. Otherwise there is no need to reply at all.

Why would Jesus come and say such a thing that he is a pencil?? Did he used to say such absurd things in his life time on the earth?? I hope not and Never. So what is the credibility of the question?? Almost Nil.

But the thing is - He did! Even His own followers thought he was absolutely crazy for even suggesting that they were going to eat Him! That’s why so many multitudes left Him. I know it doesn’t seem crazy to us now, but what if someone came up to you today and told you that you were going to eat them one day. You’d want to have them committed, right?

Many of Jesus followers who saw Him in the flesh couldn’t believe Him. They didn’t do an Eli Stone. They didn’t have faith, afaith, afaith! :hypno: Okay, now you’ll want to commit me, right?!?

Yep.

It’s called sneaking into a conversation through the back door.

“Why don’t he just ask the question straight out?”
(Said in a whinee voice)

Because if I did, most would say they don’t believe in the real presence in The Euchrist (but here, they’ll say they believe in the real presence in The Pencil, since The Pencil is “not” a Catholic Sacrament).

I believe that Jesus would’ve replied…
Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following,
“Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.”

Matthew 8:10
