If there were a Pro-Life Democratic candidate

I agree, at least on the surface. It’s just that avoiding a consistent life ethic - which politicians from both major parties seem determined to do - requires soooooo much mental gymnastics.

Imagine saying: "Pro-life isn’t just about child sex trafficking. It is a very broad umbrella (prisoner rights, animal rights, equality, environmental justice . . .) "

Then the party continues to fight for the rights of sex traffickers, dehumanize the children being trafficked, etc.

I’m not even contradicting you here - just commiserating over how frustrating it is to vote as a Catholic.

Hmmmm. I don’t consider Obama’s government all that extreme of a “liberal.” He pushed back on so much as a public option for health coverage. He contributed to the current immigration fiasco, pushed heavy-handed globalization, i.e. TPP, and was arguably a bigger war hawk than Trump.

We the People have been played well. We’ve been convinced to engage in polarized extremism while the two major parties act alike. It’s the propagandist’s feat of genius, actually. Machiavelli would be jealous.

Were there a pro life democrat running, I highly doubt the party would allow the candidate to get very far.

Assuming by some miracle someone of this political ethic won the nomination, the voters would have much more to think about.

Working against their party, could this candidate work at all? Would the Republicans trust the candidate? Could anyone else trust them?

As for myself, knowing how entrenched the pro-abortion stand is within the Democratic party, the idea of a pro-life candidate making it to the general election would appear to be a Trojan horse.

You don’t get that far without towing the party line on an issue that big. It would be a ruse.

My parents and siblings were always Democrat nearly our whole life. That changed when it became apparent that every Democrat president was appointing pro-abortion judges, promoting abortion, and favoring Planned unParenthood. Now they’ve just become the party of abortion, although they have expanded somewhat to become the party of abortion, same sex marriage, rainbow flags, transgenderism, and restriction of religious freedom. JFK would not recognize or be accepted by this party.

Some lefties will believe anything. Demonstrable fact: President Trump has done more for the Catholic Church than any US President in history.

He won.

Fair and square.

I wish the left would stop wetting their pants over this. It is getting Realllllllllllly old.

Back in day, I voted for the pro life democrat over the pro abortion republican.

And…I would do it again!

I do not see the women as extreme. The only extreme candidate I see is Bernie Sanders.

I say this because the Democrats are right on so many issues, from higher wages to affordable health care to a clean environment.
Affordable health care - the Democrats passed the affordable health care act. My insurance is now over twice as expensive for much worse coverage (deductibles are over twice as high). Higher wages - my kids rely on summer jobs to pay for college, I do not expect those to be available if the minimum wage is raised so drastically
The Democrats gave us easy to obtain, fully secured student loans - resulting in college tuition costs skyrocketing
Environment- let’s subsidize rich people’s cars (also Tesla)
Now we have a batch of candidates who just want to make everything free.

Sorry, as much as I dislike the GOP these days, I thing the Democrats are literally going crazy.

Donald Trump, a vile and nasty man. I could never vote for a person of such questionable character.
Sorry your health care is more expensive, but my health care premium costs have been steady. Before the ACA, they were constantly going up each year.
People have to have people to work. Raising minimum wage will oinly allow your kids to make more money at their summer jobs. 🙂
My greatest fear at this point is a new war, to go along with our present wars. Guys like Donald Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo have never served in the military, so they have no ideas about the horrors of war. It will not be them fighting a war against Iran.

I don’t get it. Trump hated an American hero like the late Senator John McCain, but he embraces despicable people like Vladimir Putin.

Even if a Democrat became pro-life I still would not vote for them - the rest of their ideas remain bad and go against the Constitution.

I wouldn’t. I support the Constitution and would fight whoever did such a thing.

Yeah, historically, most people who have lived under a dictator have really enjoyed that life. The Germans, Japanese, Italians, Russians, Chinese, North Koreans.
Your post would be laughable, if it were not so very sad.

Higher wages, affordable health care, improved infrastructure, a cleaner, safer environment… yeah, these are truly crazy ideas.

Hey Hillary was a bad candidate. Many of Bernie’s supporters voted for Trump because they were pissed off that Hillary won the nomination.
And of course, the Russians did what they could to drum up support for Trump.
But the fact remains that Clinton received three million more actual votes than did Trump. If not for the electoral college, Clinton would be president right now.

I’m quietly amused that Americans think that Obama was an “extreme” leftist. The Overton Window is so far to the right that the only person I can name that has an actual left leaning policy platform is AOC, and she’s pretty much centre left by European standards. Here’s a video from British television that demonstrates my point.

I doubt it.Trump has been a great president.Only those who are blinded by their irrational diskike of him would think he’s doing the devils work.

Honestly I think that they wouldn’t have much of a chance. The party apparatus has chosen to be radically pro choice, almost pro abortion. And for the leadership of the party ‘choice’ is a non-negotiable; and they have bent several candidates to their will. Al Gore used to be pro life. Governor Casey wasn’t allowed to speak, and Joe Lieberman was made to change.
