AMEN!!!Faith produces works
Works without faith is works without God in it.
Works produced by faith seek not it own glory
Where works without faith seeks its own glory
How can we test it to see of which it is?
When you work, expect nothing in return, then you shall know it is of God.

Be it as you see it, but Jesus does give assurances and promises.I am 100% certain in the mercy of God. How He judges me, I’m sure will be fair. And even though I may deserve punishment, I know He will keep His word and be merciful. That’s all any of us can hope for.
I believe Jesus,100% that those who eat His Body and drink His Blood will have life everlasting.
As far as being 100% sure, no one knows 100% until after they die. Maybe the atheist are right, then your 100% turns to zero. But then who cares, nothing is nothing.
Brother, you’re preaching to the choir. I believe in my salvation as much as anybody. My point is that no one not even you can ever be 100% sure. When you die, IF the atheists have it right. There is nothing. So no one really knows who’s right until afterwards. Anyone who claims they know for certain is only guessing. They have no more proof or knowledge than anyone else.Be it as you see it, but Jesus does give assurances and promises.
Just one verse of many: Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
You and I have no …
Therefore gird up your loin straps, lace up your boots, and armed with your salvation, go forth fearlessly helping out your neighbor.

Well, wcknight, besides those verses, and considering the Old Testament, I find leading up to Christ the story of the creation of man, the fall of man, payment made and man redeemed.Brother, you’re preaching to the choir. I believe in my salvation as much as anybody. My point is that no one not even you can ever be 100% sure. When you die, IF the atheists have it right. There is nothing. So no one really knows who’s right until afterwords. Anyone who claims they know for certain is only guessing. They have no more proof or knowledge than anyone else.
And of course even if we have it right, then the decision is of course up to God, NOT you or I. Yes, we do our best to live our faith but no one forces God to do anything. I don’t live in fear or doubt but I live with hope and trust in the Lord.
The holding place I believe might be misconstrued as purgatory, a place where souls were held awaiting the coming of Jesus.I would go to purgatory but then those from purgatory all go to heaven don’t they?
Very good point. Have you gone to the thread: Most People Go to Hell? frankly, i feel a lot of people are saying “Heaven can wait…” and opting for (they hope) Purgatory - whether they realize it fully or not. In other words, they know they can do better n their Christian walk but instead they compromise here, cut corners there, all with the thought that God is “merciful” & forgives. Well, He is/does, but i say that God’s mercy is entirely beside the point. God doesn’t force Himself or his holiness (or forgiveness) on anyone. If you don’t enter into holiness in this life, you won’t be able to when you die… Jesus said that “many will attempt to enter Heaven but will not be able”. It is sin & its horrible consequences that will cause them to be so disabled…I had a priest tell me once our objective should be to shoot for Heaven. If we shoot for Heaven and we miss, hopefully we’ll land in purgatory. But if we shoot for purgatory and miss…well it won’t be pretty. So, we might better aim a little higher.![]()
You have no way of knowing if you are going to Heaven, much less that you are going there directly…But look, I have no problem if you want to believe in purgatory, but personally, I rather have a straight one way ticket, knowing that when that soul train comes around, I will board it straight to heaven.
Yes, but we have to “apply” Jesus to our lives, to every aspect of what we do and say… do everything He commanded, not just what we choose… What about Mark 10:17… where Jesus tells us to give up everything to follow Him… Do many people do that? Do you? What about “Be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect”. Are you perfect already? Even if you could honestly say Yes to that, you more than likely wouldn’t be able to say it tomorrow…Trust in Jesus as your God, for He loved you so much that He provided you with salvation by giving His Son a ransom for us.
Bad advice… very bad advice. We should do nothing BUT “worry” about it… so to speak. we should take it to the priest in confession, then make reparation… (prayer, Scripture reading, daily Mass… the rosary, charitable works etc…) People don’t “worry” enough about the thing they *most *need to worry about… the difficult task of getting into Heaven. And it gets more difficult the older one gets… The longer you live, the more sins you commit, the more complacent you get… etc…and don’t worry if you fall down every now and then, for God is a loving parent that picks up up over and over again to our feet.
Amen to that. One thing to remember, is to learn from our mistakes.
Yes… but the saints tell us that Purgatory is very painful and the average stay is about 40 year. Who wants to basically be in Hell for 40 years? One saint said that to wait till the next life to do your penance/purification is like paying a million dollars for what you could have gotten for a penny. If our sufferings that we offer up in this life… and all the reparations we do (etc) are only equal to a “penny”… that tells you how terrible Purgatoyr is.I would go to purgatory but then those from purgatory all go to heaven don’t they?

We are TOLD not to worry… But to pray.6Do not be anxious about ANYTHING, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I am not waiting or ah hoping, to be saved, I am saved period. You have no way of knowing if you are going to Heaven, much less that you are going there directly… >>> distracted
What it really means is that to accept Jesus as your trusted Savior, you must be willing to give this life up.Yes, but we have to “apply” Jesus… do everything He commanded… what about Mark 10:17… basically Jesus tells us to give up everything for Him… Do many people do that? Do you?>>>Distracted
Why worry, be happy as the song goes, because Jesus’ got you by the hand and won’t let you go, even if you loose your grip on Him.Bad advice… very bad advice. We should do nothing BUT “worry” about it… we should take it to the priest in confession, then make reparation… (prayer, Scripture reading, daily Mass… the rosary, charitable works etc…)>>>Distracted
God always keeps His promises.
Amen
Believe me I do plenty of suffering here. Just try having a pscyhiatric disability. That’s suffering enough.Yes… but the saints tell us that Purgatory is very painful and the average stay is about 40 year. Who wants to basically be in Hell for 40 years? uch:
First two verses: Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.I wonder why no response has been made addressing post #126 yet? I’ve noticed posts like that are usually ignored. If they ARE addressed, it’s usually to say that we don’t correctly understand the vast numbers of verses refuting OSAS.
This needs to be kept in context. Here’s a scenario: My boss comes to me and says that he needs for me to write a proposal for a grant that we need and it due by the end of the day. I could tell that he is very nervous and anxious about this. I tell him, “Don’t worry about anything, I will get it done.” Does this mean that now my boss doesn’t have to worry about ANYTHING IN LIFE? Or does it just mean that he doesn’t have to worry about me not getting the proposal written? The first thought in my head…
