I created a thread “What I like about you” where I hoped Protestants would say nice things, a positive thread. Which I hoped might assist in promoting filial love and understanding. But it doesn’t seem to be getting much attention.:bighanky:

AS someone who has posted on this board for a while (and taking breaks from time to time), it is like many other internet discussion boards: hate sells. People will say things on here in a way that they would never say it face to face.

I’m curious about the substance both of the topic. Is the assumption that one who has studied the Catholic Church from Catholic sources would be more likely to join the Church? Is this meant to tease out what elements are still lacking in Catholic information for non-Catholics?

Please give a little more clarity as to what one hopes to get out of this…besides stories of why people haven’t chosen the Catholic Church.
 
Having studied the Early Church Fathers it is evident the they were much more protestant, which is why I can not embrace the Catholic church

I like this post because it illustrates something very important regarding our spiritual walk throughout our lives. Something we all need to be aware of is that faith is a gift from God.

It seems very plausible that someone could read the exact same information and come to two entirely different outcomes: One being moved to become Catholic and another to cease being Catholic. But one thing I will not underestimate is the power of the Holy Spirit to cultivate change in the human heart at the precise moment we need it in our lives.

Goodness , me Dettingen, if you are sincerely interested in learning the truth about Catholic teaching by all means invest in the 20 dollar cost, If you are not able to afford the cost then I do understand there is a way to receive a complementary copy, I do not know the details tho’. I think it is wonderful that you have come to CA with an open mind.It is a sign for me that God’s grace is working. God bless you in your walk and in your search.:)👍 Carlan

I was raised Catholic - I studied Catholic documents from within the Church and now I’m no longer Christian.

Didn’t someone once say something like: There are a million people who are not Catholic because of what they think the Catholic Church Teaches, but you won’t find a single perons who isn’t Catholic because of what the Catholic Church actually teaches.

Anyway, just trying to weed out those who never bothered to hear it from the horse’s mouth what the Catholic Church actually teaches.

It’s not about what I can get out of this, but what Catholics can get out of this - isn’t it helpful to know what is keeping people away from the Catholic Church for Catholics interested in Apologetics?

I am not half catholic anymore! But now I am full blown, hard care Roman Catholic. :cool:
