Actually yes I do love my country, but unlike you I don’t think that all the wonderful opportunities that I or my children get to experience here should only be left for us. Why do you think these people are trying to get here to America? They cannot experience these opportunities where they are. God has given us many gifts and to think that we can hoard them is a sin.

Like I said before yes we need to do something about the illegal problem but building a huge wall and not allowing anyone in is not the answer. Neither is sending back all the people that have been living here and doing all of the hard work of us. Cause in my opinion where is that going to end? First it starts off with the illegal immigrants but than it goes on to who can not speak English. And than so on and so on.

And yes Blyss, I do think that you are a bit of hypercrite if you can sit there on your high horse picking and choosing who can and cannot live here. And I really don’t see a problem going back to the “poor native Americans” point. You stated where would this country be if “we” hadn’t come here? Where in deed. They were doing great without us and it is a very bigot statement to think that we have improved this country. If you ask me.

Yes this country was founded on immigrants and I have not seen a reason to change that. The immigration scare comes down to one thing racism. And if you are denying this you are lying to yourself. Just as with the Irish the Germans the Italians and whoever else, people where scared that they where going to over run America. Now it is the Mexicans. I think that scaredness comes straight from the fact that we first immigrants did over run America in beginning and we did kill a thousand people who were already here.

I don’t understand the big deal about Karin being a citizen or not. We are seriously considering moving to my wife’s birth country when I retire. If my wife lives there for 3 months she can get dual citizenship because she was a minor when she immigrated, she would then be able to get their version of social security even though she never paid into it. That is because her dad paid into it for over 20 years and also served in their military for 4 years and never collected on it. A sweet deal for her! Even if we spend the rest of our lives there, which we probably won’t, I would never give up my ‘blue’ passport.

I have participated in the high-jacking of this thread too long, lets return to the origional subject. If we want to continue to discuss citizenship someone should start a thread on that subject.

I was referring to children whose parents are illegal, referring back to all the slamming on “anchor babies.” But from a Christian point of view, I don’t know that it matters.

Just saying that ppl using babies as anchor babies… the babies should be deported with the illegal parents. That way the family gets to stay together.

If I am understanding Jeff and a few other posters…an “anchor baby” looks like a Mexican and he or she has Mexican Parents who may or may not be here legally…

I’m not sure it is the truth, or just someone convoluted version of what they think is the truth. And I wonder how many imigrated Americans(from the United States, I mean) kill their unsuspecting host countrys citizens.
I agree we need to get some outstanding border security. To keep illegal persons from trying to come into the US. Not only would it cut down on chances of terrerists getting in that way(from nations all over the globe), but would help the Mexicans realize they need to find a better way to get thier needs fulfilled then risking their lives.

I didn’t say they were Mexican… altho some are… some are not.

Also the parents would have to be here illegally for them to be anchor babies. They anchor them to the USA.
