Yes misused! When the Arabs conquered all those lands after Mohammeds death they weren’t all that religiously motivated, as is evidenced by the relatively few conversions, no tax money in wholesale conversions. They used Islam as a unifying principal.
And no I do not think Islam is 100 percent beevolent or violent. That is ultimately up to the Islamic community to decide.

Gee, I spent over a year and a half in Morocco, and eleven months in Iraq. I never converted to Islam, and I never paid the jizyah. I don’t recall incurring the wrath of the Muslims I came into contact with everyday (although there were a few in Iraq that would have liked to dealt violently with me).

So my experience is, regardless of what you are telling me, I haven’t had that experience in dealing with Muslims. So, who are you going to believe, someone who has been there, or what you have read?

Are you saying that the Moslem experts who say what should be done know less about the faith than you do?

I’m here to defend the truth, regardless of who listens. It’s still the truth. I can only do this one thread at at time. However I’ll be less inclinded to answer more of your attacks here because you offer nothing but your own judgment backed up by your own opinion.

like i said, i believe SOME of islam is violent, post more facts, i’ve read them all and it’s probably all true.

My position is a simple one. I don’t hate anyone. I don’t go looking for enemies. When people treat me kindly, I try to reciprocate, even if they disagree with me politically, religiously & c. If nothing else, this is just good manners.

In all of my contact with Muslims, I have never been asked to convert to Islam (although Muslims love to discuss religion). They have impressed me as sincere, friendly and hospitable. Certainlym, there are bad Muslims, just as there are bad Jews and bad Christians. I just don’t believe in putting them all in one category.

I am not promoting Islam, as I am a practicing Catholic. All I am saying is that most of them a peaceful and friendly. Why should we treat them as enemies. If we treat them as enemies, that’s what they will become. Just as our politicians would like.

You make it sound as if the Arab conquest was peaceful and non-violent and the Christians were not oppressed. Sure once the conquest occurred the Christians were not killed but only oppressed as dhimmis and forced to pay the jizyah and suffer great humiliation and persecution.

But you make it seem the Arabs were righteous in persecuting Christians instead of killing them.

I am interested in this topic of Global Warming, and if you or anyone else would like to start a thread on it (perhaps under secular news events?) then I would try to contribute to it. For example, what is the extent of Global Warming due to natural cyclical causes, and what is the extent due to human activity.

You mistake what I attack. I’m attacking a religion, not the Muslims. It’s an ideological attack, not a physical attack. i would much rather the Muslims leave islam.

When you care for people, you don’t leave them to err. If they do something wrong it is often kinder to tell them so they don’t continue their mistake.
