You’re the only one talking about 6,000 ppm extremophile conditions (which btw haven’t existed on Earth for something like 450 million years).

I (and others) are merely trying to point out that:
a) your ideal level of atmospheric CO2 is 260-270 ppm, because
b) atmospheric CO2 levels immediately prior to the start of the Industrial Revolution were 280 ppm

i.e. your “Chicken Little” view of the world is:

But, in the grand scheme of things, there were plenty of times in the past 800,000 years when atmospheric CO2 was at 300 ppm (i.e. higher than immediately-pre-Industrial-Revolution but lower than today), that humans had nothing to do with!

In fact, for most of the last 25 million years (i.e. the far left of the below graph) it looks like atmospheric CO2 has been less then 500 ppm:

Not to hijack thread but could someone please refer me to some legitimate papers/scientists who don’t go along with the man-made global warming hysteria?

Thanks

Will Professor Glantz be writing a paper about these facts? Will he be declaring, in a press release, that both Al Gore and the WWF have “longstanding ties to tobacco companies”?
Will his university issue a press release that announces, in it’s title, that the WWF’s links to the tobacco industry extend back to the 1960s?
Finally, will the hired-gun, public relations professionals posing as activists over at DeSmogBlog tweet about how the WWF “was created by Big Tobacco and Billionaires”?

Are climate change ‘facts’ so hard to come by that a not-yet-finalized draft report is considered evidence?

Don’t be misled by the fakexperts –
  • If they are saying global warming is not happening, they are NOT climate scientists, tho they might be weathermen, astrophysics, geologists (whose specialty is not GW), retired engineers, yo-yo statisticians, dentists, medical doctors, philosophers, economists, or any of an odd assortment of other non-climate scientist types.
  • If they are saying global warming is happening, but it is not due in any way to increasing greenhouse gases, they are NOT climate scientists, and are in violation of the laws of physics.
  • If they are saying global warming is happening and is mainly being caused by greenhouse gas emissions, but it isn’t a serious problem, they MAY be climate scientists who receive hefty sums from the denialist thinktanks – funded by oil and coal, such as but not limited to Koch, Exxon, Scaife, Peabody.
Here’s a report about all the chicanery going on to bamboozle the unsuspecting public about GW – more complicated than a soap opera: desmogblog.com/fake-science-fakexperts-funny-finances-free-tax & desmogblog.com/sites/beta.desmogblog.com/files/fake.pdf

Best bet is to pray to God to lead you to the truth about the issue and what should be done about it. And the Truth shall set you free.

you know in the image above how you see ice-age cycles, am i right in seeing us now at the beginning of another ice-age, according to the Graph, more or less.
Looks more like a launching pad for climate hysteresis into a great warming…which has happened several times in the past, like 55 mill yrs ago and 251 mya, during which most of life on earth died out due to the warming.

However, some scientists suggest we could actually tip the system into runaway warming as on Venus (a billion years ahead of the natural schedule when the dying/heating sun will be doing it). see columbia.edu/~jeh1/2008/AGUBjerknes_20081217.pdf. That is because:

  1. *]there is more irradiance from the sun than 55, 251 mya
*]we are digging up fossil fuels and pumping GHGs into the atmosphere at a higher rate than ever before, not allowing long-term negative feedbacks to have much effect – such as weathering (rocks taking in CO2).

At any rate since mitigating GW is a great economic boon, good for one’s pocketbook, we ought to be mitigating it to the hilt (as JPII and BXVI have admonished us to do), instead of sitting around debating whether or not it is happening.

  1. yes, but you’know, the next ice-age according to that graph is long over-due by now, in fact it seems to be a couple of thousand years behind schedule.

now looking at the carbon emissions at the same time they seem to be one and a half times greater than ‘normal’ at the beginning of the other ice-ages.
so perhaps increased emissions have raised global temperatures by a fraction of a degree, just enough to delay the start of the next natural ice-age cycle.

by reducing emission we might be back on track again, and our well overdue ice-age might begin nearly straight away.

Don’t be misled by the fakexperts
Be misled by the man-made global warming proponents instead.

The Climategate emails have done a terrific job in exposing the (presumably) well intentioned but misguided frauds for who they are:

Manipulation of evidence:“I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”
Private doubts about whether the world really is heating up:“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.”
Suppression of evidence:“Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4?”
“Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family crisis.”
“Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same? I don’t have his new email address.”
“We will be getting Caspar to do likewise.”
Fantasies of violence against prominent Climate Sceptic scientists:“Next time I see Pat Michaels at a scientific meeting, I’ll be tempted to beat the **** out of him. Very tempted.”
Attempts to disguise the inconvenient truth of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP):"……Phil and I have recently submitted a paper using about a dozen NH records that fit this category, and many of which are available nearly 2K back–I think that trying to adopt a timeframe of 2K, rather than the usual 1K, addresses a good earlier point that Peck made w/ regard to the memo, that it would be nice to try to “contain” the putative “MWP”, even if we don’t yet have a hemispheric mean reconstruction available that far back…."
And, perhaps most reprehensibly, a long series of communications discussing how best to squeeze dissenting scientists out of the peer review process. How, in other words, to create a scientific climate in which anyone who disagrees with AGW can be written off as a crank, whose views do not have a scrap of authority.“This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the “peer-reviewed literature”. Obviously, they found a solution to that–take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering “Climate Research” as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…What do others think?”
“I will be emailing the journal to tell them I’m having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor.”“It results from this journal having a number of editors. The responsible one for this is a well-known skeptic in NZ. He has let a few papers through by Michaels and Gray in the past. I’ve had words with Hans von Storch about this, but got nowhere. Another thing to discuss in Nice !”
Unfortunately, we’ve a long, long way to go before the public mood (and scientific truth) is reflected by our policy makers. There are too many vested interests in AGW, with far too much to lose either in terms of reputation or money, for this to end without a bitter fight.

Interesting comment - can you name someone with a PhD in Climatology?

B.A. in Physics and Mathematics

M.S. in Astronomy

Ph.D. in Physics

By your logic, would not be criteria?

M.S. degree in Physics

Ph.D. in Geology

By your logic, would not be criteria?

You’ve just omitted Mr James Hansen and Mr Mike Mann. 🙂

How so please provide reference ]?

If it is a “LAW” of physics…It has to follow that “LAW”…NO DEVIATION.
Then you have to explain why a 16 year hiatus has occurred between temperature rise and GHG rise… Empirical evidence ].

OR BP, SHELL, OMAN, etc who funds CRU? sppiblog.org/news/partial-list-of-cru-funders

Or Carbon Trust, the Northern Energy Initiative, and the Energy Saving Trust – are U.K.-based consultancy and funding specialists promoting “new energy” technologies with the goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The fourth – Renewables North West – is an American company promoting the expansion of solar, wind, and geothermal energy in the Pacific Northwest.

Do you do all your research this way? 🙂
You’ve just complained about financiers involved with AGW - then you use desmog as a reference - without telling the reader who finances desmog.
James Hoggan’s client list. They include or have included the National Hydrogen Association, Fuel Cells Canada, hydrogen producer QuestAir, Naikun Wind Energy and Ballard Fuel Cells. Mr. Hoggan, in other words, benefits from regulatory policy based on climate change science.
Plus convicted felon John Lefebvre.

Even if we were headed toward an ice age it would take 1000s of years to actually get down that cold as at the deepest point – nothing to worry much about today. And in fact humans did go through ice ages (including our hominid precursors) during the Pleistocene – tho if an ice age were to happen in the future it would be a very serious problem for our very large population so highly dependent on agriculture and our mild Holocene climate for survival.

However, Dr. James Hansen doubts that earth will ever again go into an ice age due to the great global warming we are triggering, with positive feedbacks from melting permafrost and ocean hydrates posed to release many gigatons of carbon into the atmosphere. And due to the increased solar irradiance of today (see the link I provided for his Bjerknes lecture).

OTOH, we might want to save these fossil fuels for our progeny just in case there ever is another ice age so they can keep themselves warm (and they’d really need that more than we do now), rather than willy nilly wasting them today. Of course, there will be plenty of fossil fuels in some millions of years from this great warming and die out of life we are about to enter if we fail to stop burning fossil fuels…with the vast life today (us and others of God’s creatures) composing those fossil fuels. So I guess we’re doing the future generations a favor to die out in some great warming die back and become fossil fuels for them. Maybe one of their political issues of contention in the future (assuming humans survive) might be –
Should we or should we not burn our ancestors and fill our gas tanks up with them? Oh, what the ____, they didn’t care about us, so fill 'er up and our ancestors be ____ed. 🙂
Of course, we’ll be in Hell by then giving the devil plenty of fuel to burn for eternity. 😦

Some just like it hot hotter hottest!

Do you have any credible evidence that there are indeed “harmful impacts of global warming, especially on the poor”?

On the other hand, abortion is real and deadly, and here is the evidence: priestsforlife.org/images/abortion-images-galleries.aspx

John
I think the same selfishness that leads people to have abortions is the same selfishness that leads them to cause global warming and harm others. There is a lack of awareness of other people, and a lack of caring about them. If we really cared even one iota, we’d be mitigating global warming to our utmost, as JPII and BXVI have told us to do.

Yes, there is plenty of evidence, a mountain of evidence – much more credible than the denialists present – that global warming is having harmful impacts, esp on the poor, and will have very serious impact in the future. BXVI has been very concerned about that – as one can see in his writings.

And there are many lines of evidence, also from paleoclimatology – the great warming extinction events. It’s not something we should be monkeying around with, without a care about the welfare of others, including our own progeny.

I’ve been collecting such evidence, and I’d suggest that others who care about other people do the same. It’s out there for people who know how to do web searches or look up things in the library.

Thank you for your reply but you didn’t answer my question.

Remember, the occurrence of, say, a hurricane does not mean that “global warming” caused it, despite claims made by “globing warming” alarmists.
