Very true. I prayed daily for obama’s removal.
I believe in the power of prayer, but mostly it just served to calm me down and put it in God’s hands in my mind do to speak.
If it makes those who are scared of, dislike, or disagree with Trump, feel better, great! Go for it!

And I say that as a Trump fan, supporter, voter, and someone who prays for his success!

I didn’t like Obama, but I never prayed for his removal. However, I pray for President
Trump’s success every night and that of his administration and I pray for his protection and that those promoting evil and chaos will be revealed to the American people.

And Trump lied about making Mexico pay for a wall. Personally, I think Congress should be able to remove a president for whatever reason they want. They are the ones who answer to the people.

Or better yet, merge with Canada???

The first ever presidential impeachment, of Andrew Johnson in 1868, was politically driven (he was a Southerner in the wake of the War between the States, and his policies, reminiscent of Lincoln, were unsatisfactory to Northern Republicans). Yet after he survived impeachment and served out his term, the Nation went on to its height.

We’d survive it again, although, next to WW3 or Great Depression 2, it would be the last thing we needed.

Impeachment IS political. Hamilton noted in Federalist 65:

“A well-constituted court for the trial of impeachments is an object not more to be desired than difficult to be obtained in a government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself. I don’t know about others. But mine were! And I honestly regard that as divine intervention because we were told it was such a decided race in favor of her.

Impeachment does not remove the President. The Senate votes to remove (or stay) the President.

Personally, I think the bar is high enough that impeachments would still be very rare. Like I said, I would not care if Trump was impeached, but I think the odds are slim to none and slim is on his way out of town. It does make a nice distraction though.

Congress supposedly answers to the people, so give them the power to remove the president because they don’t like him?

We need checks and balances. If Congress were to get that power, we wouldn’t have that.

If Trump is ever impeached, it means there is a trial.

The House would select some Representatives to be the prosecution.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would act as the Judge
The entire Senate would act as the Jury, requiring 2/3rd to convict.

Only if convicted, is the President removed from office and the Vice President sworn in as President.

It was a baby step forward from what existed before.

Really, the idea of insuring the human body for profit is flawed from line one. Car insurance works because most drivers do not crash, fire insurance works because most buildings do not burn, but every human body is certain to fail catastrophically and expensively.

I suppose if I prayed for someone to fabricate evidence to impeach Trump then that might be morally problematic. But if one thinks that based on the evidence now, that Trump is guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors” then there is no moral problem in praying for his impeachment. Obviously one can debate whether or not he has committed an impeachable offense.
