Failure to do what? Keep calling witnesses in hope that one will testify the way the Dems want? The Dems didn’t even have hearsay or speculation evidence that Bolton had anything at all.
The dems knew what their own 13 witnesses would say, and they presented those witnesses’ testimony to the senate. They presented 28,000 documents. They had no idea what Bolton or anybody else would say, and still don’t.

There is no reason why the senate should have gone on a fishing expedition for the Dems.

There was plenty of hearsay and speculation on what Bolton would say when someone starting leaking his book, so let’s not pretend otherwise. At this point, you’re right though. The only reason for Bolton to testify is to show what a sham this whole trial has been as the Republicans had long ago decided to give Trump’s criminal behavior a pass. It didn’t matter what Bolton would say. He’s a bad guy now. He’s crossed Trump.

Seeing how they called fake “witnesses” my guess is that they will continue to investigate this and call anyone and everyone who will say oops I mean be coached to say what the Dems want.

Speculation by whom? The Dems have been speculating about all kinds of things about Trump forever. But they don’t even have hearsay on Bolton in the NYT which purports to know something about it. They do speculate on what Bolton MIGHT say.

Um, there is most certainly hearsay in the NYT article. But don’t worry, the Democrats will call him to Congress to testify under oath and we’ll know what he has to say.

You might be right, but they’ll vet his testimony in advance and unless it’s at least good enough to spin, they won’t call him at all.

In all likelihood, we’ll know what he will say before he says it because it’s probably all in his book and that is going to leak out sooner rather than later.
 
Only fear of Bolton’s testimony justifies your response. The GOP would be happy to call an exculpatory witness

Oh, no. Trump totally know he doesn’t have anything. That’s why they don’t want him to testify.

Did I have to write it? Trump says he has nothing, he has nothing. Doesn’t matter how good of a Republican you’ve been your entire life or how honest you are. Only Trump speaks the truth.
