This is funny. Really funny!
Let’s not be ridiculous. This is a 100% partisan cookery, with all Dems but one or two voting to impeach in the House, all Repubs against. In the Senate, all but perhaps one or two Dems will vote to convict, and only one Repub senator for.Only in the sense that they thought that there was more than 1 Republican that would be an honest broker in the Senate.
When the Fox News crowd turns on Trump, Romney has positioned himself to be a leader in whatever the Republican Party has going forward.Romney is hardly the epitome of honesty.
I think it was a useful exercise. After all, I didn’t really understand how corrupt the entire Republican Party is. Now I do.Let’s not be ridiculous. Could have saved a lot of time and money by simply voting the party line in the morning in the House, and in the senate later that afternoon.
Then he moved to Utah to get the support of the Mormons, which support he probably frittered away with his vote to convict.Nah,he’s just another elitist politician who can’t get over the fact that he lost in 2012. Add to that he went begging for a position in the Trump Administration and was denied that as well.Good thing because he would have just worked against the president from within.
I would say there is zero chance of Romney ever being a person of respect in the Repub party again, let alone a “leader”. He had a choice of exercising rationality or venting his spleen, and he vented. Nobody respects that. When the Fox News crowd turns on Trump, Romney has positioned himself to be a leader in whatever the Republican Party has going forward.
Corruption is not measured by your prejudices. But I do think there is something to be learned from all of this. The political polarization is complete. For a long time, the Dems were the only ones with sufficient discipline to adhere to their leaders’ party line. The Repubs were more diffuse. The latter now seems to be firming up. I doubt the Repubs will ever be as disciplined as the Dems, but they’re moving in that direction.I think it was a useful exercise. I haven’t seen an adequate explanation on why someone would support acquittal except for partisan reasons. So if someone is not persuaded by the arguments put forth by the Democrats, then they are “dishonest brokers?”
Corruption is measured by corruption. It is now okay to extort a foreign country to help your political campaign by withholding funds earmarked by another branch of government.Corruption is not measured by your prejudices. He was never respected that much. He was more of a democrat than a republican and he was so disliked that he even lost to Obama. That’s pretty bad.I would say there is zero chance of Romney ever being a person of respect in the Repub party again
Have you listened to Trump? Talk about venting a spleen.I would say there is zero chance of Romney ever being a person of respect in the Repub party again, let alone a “leader”. He had a choice of exercising rationality or venting his spleen, and he vented. Nobody respects that.
