Incorrupt saints

Most of the Incorruptibles did not undergo any preservation ??? So what makes you think that they are truly “incorruptible”? I’ve seen the so-called “Incorruptibles” and they don’t seem very “incorruptible” to me. Whether they’ve “leatherized” or had wax treatments and airtight tombs (like Bernadette Soubirous), they are very much decaying. All one has to do is take them out of their environments and leave them untouched and we’ll see how truly corruptible they are. Btw, long periods of light decay isn’t uncommon and isn’t reserved for Catholic “saints” alone, so to use them as if to imply evidence of Catholic truth proves nothing of the kind.
Have you seen any of them? Have you read about them?

You’re a Christian right? So I assume that you also believe in miracles… If so, I wonder why it seems that you don’t believe in the “incorruptibility” of these saints. Is it because they are Catholic? What if there would be incorruptible bodies in your religion? Would you believe in it? 😃

Peace

The difference between Catholic incorruptibles and non-Catholic incorruptibles is that Catholic incorruptibles are preserved supernaturally (cannot be explained scientifically) while the non-Catholic is preserved by natural causes.

The only error in here is that St. Frances Xavier Cabrini is incorrupt–she’s actually not.

“This sarcophagus of Mother Cabrini is moulded over the actual remains of her mortal body below the neck. The saint’s actual head is on display in Rome, Italy. We were told by a volunteer tour guide that Mother Cabrini’s mortal remains are not incorrupt. However, there is still skill over some of her bones, which themselves are strong and show no sign of decay.”

I found a good article/book extract that I kept many years ago.

Although I am sceptical of this journo’s sceptical approach.
It must be said that the Catholic Church is one of the most sceptical organisations around in regard to promoting anything supernatural without thorough scrutiny. The miracles at Lourdes are testamount to that.

I have placed it on my web page.

Yes, I have read about them. No I haven’t seen them. Do I believe that they are “incorruptible”? No I don’t. Time alwayscorrupts the body, whether it takes one year or a hundred. What I’ve read about these bodies have shown me that there are some preservation techniques, but they always eventually corrupt.

Actually being incorrupt doesn’t rank high on the list ot things that the church considers. In the case of Fr. Salanus Casey it has been known since 1987 that he is incorrupt, but he has yet to be beatified. Many in the Detroit Area, and other areas pray to him often. There are many accounts of miracles when he was alive as well as after death. The Church just needs to find the one that meets the requirements. Please pray for the beatification of this holy man.

Pardon my ignorance. why would God who is Mercy and Love only keep Catholics incorruptible? It seems rather arrogant to assume God only does this to Catholics. I can’t imagine God acting like a scorekeeper. It seems rather superstitious to me.

What I find very interesting about the incorruptable Saints is how it relates to a correct Catholic view of justification; that when we are justified we aren’t merely covered (imputed) with Christ’s righteousness, but that we are infused or made a new creation in our whole being (2 Cor 5:17). I believe God allows some Saints to stay incorruptable in order to show us the evidence of being completely made holy, both soul and (in the case of the holy Saints) body also. A body without the affectations of sin doesn’t corrupt.

Yes, I know that they are. I have seen MANY of them with my own two eyes, it is kind of hard to deny it then.

How would you know? Who were the scientists who examined the “incorruptibles.” Give me their names (including scientific backgrounds) and where I can find their scientific findings. The reason why I ask is because I read much about how things were “examined by scientists” and how “they had no answers” and, yet, no one gives any evidence.

Some look as waxed as a fine Lamborghini, others look like leather. Also, I’m sure their containers are as air-tight as a vacuumed Mason jar. I’ve seen this website before and, again, I don’t buy it. There is evidently some preservation techniques going on. It is even admitted that Bernadette Soubirous has a wax mask so as to not impress the public wrongly.

As I said, these bodies are not incorruptible. If it takes a year or a thousand years, the bodies are corrupting. There really is no miracle other than the ones folks want to buy into.

Even if they are not totally incorrupt, they are largely/substantially incorrupt, at least for a long time (several years), which is the way GOD shows their holiness.

What’s to defend? It’s not a doctrine of the Church and anyone who wants to lose sleep over it is welcome to.

There is a principle within the OT though. Remember the miracle of the dead man whose body was thrown into the prophet’s tomb because of raiders and when he touched the prophet’s bones he came back to life and stood up on his feet?

It’s a miracle, believe it or don’t, but if you have a problem with the Catholic faith, I suggest that you stick to doctrinal matters. 🤷

Oh so the prophet wasn’t incorrupt, but still his holiness was shown by his life and by touching of his bone.

What was the prophet’s name?

There is a book about this, called “The Incorruptibles” published by TAN. I’ve always been fascinated by this subject (and also the subject of communion hosts that bleed, type AB negative no less!)

For a few years I’ve considered becoming a mortician (once my kids are done being homeschooled), and so this means I’ve had to study up on issues related to death. The issue of incorruptible saints has come up not a few times in my reading.

While I understand the desire of Catholics to see incorruptibility as a proof of sanctity, the fact is that non-Catholics (and even pagans) have had bodies that did not corrupt, due to preservation in frigidly cold environments and the like. One book I have shows pictures of primitive people whose bodies were found totally intact as well.

That doesn’t really mean anything because they were preserved by natural causes.

You are talking like you have been around for millenium and speak with the authority of an immortal to state infallibly that time always corrupts the body - even those centuries old that are not corrupted. Yet you believe from second hand accounts that Christ rose from the dead and that many of the early saints rose from their tombs at the time of the crucifixion. It is bizarre to me that you will believe that God has the power to resurrect but not the power to preserve from corruption.

If you can believe that Lazarus was raised from the dead after 4 days and Jesus resurrected after 3 then why can you not believe the physical evidence that anyone can go see today of our Catholic Saints that are preserved by supernatural grace? What you have read and what you choose to believe is contrary to what you can see with your own eyes.

Even a Doubting Thomas who could not accept another’s accounts would believe what he saw. Why can’t you?

James
