Once again:
We know Jesus to be the God of the Old Testament ( Jn 1:1-3). As such, He is the author and giver of the Law to the Jews, of which the Decalogue is a part. Therefore, as God, He has also given the Apostles the power and authority to “bind and loose” on earth and it will be so in Heaven ( Matt.16:19 ).
Jesus did not give His disciples the power to change anything that He has set. What Jesus has done in Matt.16:19 is the same thing He did in the great commission. He told His disciples to bind or loose the world to the kingdom of God through the use of the keys of the kingdom and those are HIS WORDS.
Matt.28
19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
He gave them no power to change His law. And indeed after His death nothing could be changed. The blood of Jesus confirms the covenant and after this there is no more changing.
Gal.3
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
Heb.9
16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
So if the wording of the covenant were to be changed it would have to have been done by Jesus before His death, and this He did not do.
Then there is this
Ez.5
5Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
6And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
The decalogue is a manifestation of the perfect character of God and will never change.
Malachi 3:6
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Under this power and authority, through and from the Apostles, the primitive Church “loosed” the obligation of Saturday Sabbath worship and “bound” Sunday as “the Lord’s Day”, the Christian Sabbath. This is also so in Heaven, as per Jesus’ words. Christians are not under any obligation to keep Saturday as the Sabbath, but they are under obligation to keep Sunday as "the Lord’s Day ( the Christian Sabbath ).
First of all the Lord’s day is the Sabbath. Mar2:28Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. There is no evidence that the apostles kept any day but the Sabbath and as you have duly noted. “We know Jesus to be the God of the Old Testament ( Jn 1:1-3).”
Jesus is the creator God and it is He that gave us the law in the first place, at creation, so the law of the old testament is the Christian law.
Through misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the scriptures ( sola scriptura ), the SDA insist that the only Sabbath is Saturday and will reject the above explanation. Doing so is to deny and reject Jesus’ words which they do to their own detriment.
The only ones misunderstanding and misinterpreting is you and your church.
Gen2
3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
God blessed no other day. Only the seventh day. And altho the day was made for us. Mark2:27And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: It belongs to God. Ex.20:10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God. Making this day and only this day a time when we can have a special relationship with our God. This day is a perpetual sign between us and God that we are His people.Ex.31
14Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
And this is who the children of Israel are.
Rom.9
6Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Galatians 3:28-29 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Romans 2:28-29 “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”
Can there be any doubt from these passages that when Jeremiah talks about the children of Israel Jer.31:31Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: that he is talking about CHRISTIANS.
