My motive is to understand what the God breathed words are saying in context. Most of scripture is readily understandable without need of an interpreter.
Which is self-evident by the 100,000’s of different Christian groups. Some handle snakes. Some speak in tongues.
Even Moslems can read the Bible and find some inspiration in the Bible that confirms their own beliefs in Islam.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and when you all want to set yourselves up as infallible Popes, then you get 100,000s of different Christian groups. You can shop around to find the Christianity that suits your life-style. You’ve made the Word your servant, not you the servant of the Word.
Are all disagreements motivated by pride?
Protestant ones are; they start with the pride of knowledge of one’s own abilities.
The parallel verses above have the same result, “Eternal Life” and **“I will raise him on the last day”. **Verse 40 teaches the reality of Faith and Belief for salvation. Verse 54 is clearly a metaphor. IF verse 54 is taken literally then you have salvation by communion.
By really partaking in His Body and Blood (which Jesus said were real food) we indeed will be raised up. You do have salvation through communion. By becoming one with God. Salvation is not just an ‘ends’ but a journey as well. A lifelong journey of continually striving to take Jesus upon you.
I note again that Jesus, when questioned confirmed that it is REAL FOOD. But you don’t believe Him.
Again I disagree, Christians Love Gods word and desire to seek its Truth.
That statement itself is couched in misrepresentation. No where do I deny one should seek the truth. You and I disagree with the question ‘how?’ However only you would deny me in that pursuit by making such a statement; implying that only you are following God’s word and to seek the truth.
When we see the organized church teaching contrary to scripture our motivation is certainly not pride.
Which ‘organized church’? I’m not Catholic. I’m Orthodox.
Please list for me what teachings are contrary to Scripture.
John 17:17
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Ps 119:105
**Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. **
Ps 138:2
I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
Again furthering a misrepresentation from above.
There’s nothing I’ve said that says “Don’t seek the truth”. But I guess it’s more convenient to set this up then deal with what I actually have said
