Why people keep asserting this on these boards? It is not true. People, there are Arabic speakers and Linguists among you! There is no need to persist in beliving something so easily demonstratably false. “Islam” comes from the same triconsonantal root as “peace” (S-L-M), but that doesn’t mean that they are one in meaning! If that were the case, then all words coming from the K-T-B root (which denotes writing) would mean the same thing, and you would have no way to distinguish between “write”, “book”, “library”, “office”, “writer”, etc.

See this page for more on how Semitic languages form words: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triliteral

I really hope this is the last we will see of this claim! “Islam” means “submission”.
I was told by a Muslim friend that Islam means Peace. If its not an accurate translation, big hairy deal-you got my drift.

I am just pulling yours up as it was your post that drug me into this… though I am not complaining. Has been delightful. 🙂 Great fun arguing with brick walls. 🤷

Think about how you (generalized… just grabbed this post as a point maker) are responding. Really look at your words. I have been pouring out buckets of information and instead of doing much to prove me wrong… I just get told to prove it further and then the not so clever diversion to the wrongs of the Muslims.

Don’t you all only claim Jesus is perfect? Then at least, can you just admit that anyone outside of Jesus should not be held to that same perfection? Do you hold yourself to that same perfection?

Fact is… you are all so blinded by your own faith that you no longer have any idea how to effectively research and think logically on your own, and so you are like little children in that you are needing me to do it all for you. My dear little ones, if you are going to call me wrong just because, well… 🤷 It is hard to reason the thought processes of those who lack. I do care and all I am trying to do is be honest. I know it is scary to look at, but Jesus knew what he was talking about when he said “the Truth shall set you free.” That is what I want for you all. I would not offer you truth if i did not think you were capable of handling it. 🙂

And do not argue my points against “our” religion with rebuttals of how evil the Muslims are, because I am not Muslim. I was raised Christian and have never been Muslim. Therefore, I do not go to them and tell them where they are blind, neither do I defend their religion. I came in here confronting the Christians because that was my religion for over 20 years; so I know it. I confront you for the same reason that Jesus said he only came for the lost house of Israel. Because only they could understand him. ahem and then education and enlightenment perhaps could finally find its way into the world and into the hearts of the people; from one to another.

Let go of your hatred for the Muslims. YOu are only destroying yourself and that is not their fault. That rests only on you. Until you can come to grips with that, you are only feeding into the negativity in the world and doing nothing to enlighten your own soul.

At this point…unless you wanna talk about the wrongs committed by our homebound religion and what we could do to change that, we will just chalk my factual evidences I brougt up against it (christianity, that is) as being wrong based on your say so! You won. Job well done. 👍 Go find yourself some Muslims and show them the error of their ways so that you can think you forget about yours.
I hate no one.Stop putting words into my mouth and telling me what I mean.I have ears to hear and eyes to see.

My problem with Islam that it is all too often not practised as a religion but as an ideology which I doubt even YOU can deny. But if you DO attempt to do so it will undoubtably prove to be amusing.

I no longer have difficulty taking you or your posts seriously. Now I simply do not.

Your assertion that you have provided any credible evidence about Chistianity or Islam is laughable and self-delusional.Salaam.

 wow… all it takes is the resident “admits she will not give my posts the time of day and therefore could not honestly judge if I am a troll” to say “do not talk to her” and the crowd chimes in… ‘yeah! right! why did I not think of that brilliant idea?’ 🤷

K… Enough of the christian bashing. I will admit that we have quite a bit on that front and since no one is arguing… then I guess that mote is pulled out and change will follow!

So, I am open and curious. Anyone here have one story to share about what a Muslim has done to them personally to make their life so miserable? Debating does not count because that is voluntary on your part and he/she could say the same thing about you.

But, I am open to anything else… anyone?.. have a personal story about how a Muslim has personally harmed them? Let’s hear your Muslim stories! 🙂

‘Jew’s harming you’ stories are welcome too. I am ready to learn! 🍿

I have met a few rational charming Muslims whom I would be delighted to have as next door neighbours. It is not Muslim ethnicity but the practise of exclusionary Islam which concerns me.Read the Koran and see what is said about those who are not Muslim and how the Koran recommends they be treated-dhimmitude for example.I suspect as do others that you ARE a Muslim trying to soft pedal the known excesses of the religion of “peace”.As I’ve said before,Islam is coercive in practise-It IMPOSES rather than PROPOSES.When a religion becomes more ideology than Faith it creates problems for the rest of us.

No, actually, you are not. Much like the Muslim posters who try this, and our one Jewish one who does, all you are doing is showing an amazing lack of understanding of Christian Doctrine.

Just pick one point that Paul raises that disputes the teachings of Jesus. Just one.
Interesting thing to request, Ralph.

Do you think that you will get a reply?

Ralph,
I hope so. However, it has been my experience that those who hold the “Paul perverted Christianity” position almost never can stand true, serious discussion of their position.

IN the end, when faced with oppostion, they generally jump to another anti-Christian place.

As always, I enjoy discussing with you, Ralph

Ralph, you are one of the kindest, most enjoyable posters on here. My life is enriched greatly by knowing you.

Your dear friend,
Ralph

Alright, I do not want this to degrade into a bashing thread. This is a simple question that does not have a simple answer.

Are the cultural differences between Muslims and Christians, once coupled with the Theological issues, too much to overcome, making true dialog impossible?

Are both sides unable to actually discuss with the other?
Personally I don’t believe it’s possible as long as we enter into it with our dogmatic difference in the fore…

Because I have a mind that can reason toward the Truth. They are pledging to a piece of material… this puts an image in the mind and conjures up “good old childhood feelings” thus leading to easy manipulation and exploitation of those in this country based on false pretenses. It is called brainwashing.

Moralistic is what the pledge to the flag is.

I value my sons’ rights to choose what it is they pledge their devotion to and I hope to God that I teach them well enough that it will not be to an image that can be used to manipulate them into doing things that they will regret.

I will tell you… this touches a very personal nerve with me because I watched this very scenario play out before my eyes with my brother during Desert Storm. My brother came home safe and sound… or we had thought so. He is no longer with us by his own choice. It gave me cause to consider and in that considering I saw the Truth about many things that are terribly wrong and frightening in our country… and most are started in Sunday Schools and Educational (errr… ) Schools while we and now our children are at very impressionable and tender ages. I tell you the Truth and whether you want to consider it or not, it is your choice. Personally, my children are worth more to me than something that gives me good feelings, yet deceivingly so.
sorry i just read up to this post and gathered you have repeated many times about you seeing the “Truth”. Jesus said he is the Way, the Truth and the Life, so what is your Truth? you are a good writer and no offense but your “Truth” is not shared by great Christian writers. it appears to me your “Truth” might exist only in your mind. sorry.🤷
God bless.

there certainly is a difference between learned truths and the Truth. I do not argue this at all.

I rest on knowing where the Truth is found. God has sealed the knowledge of His Truth with the promise that he would not change the foundation. The Seal is found in Malachi 3: 6, “For I am the LORD, I change not.” He confirmed it to me by keeping His promise made in vs 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

The Knowledge of where the Truth is found is my security. I can not be swayed from that… and so, I am free to experience and learn. It is a good place to be. 🙂

And to the other poster who wants a contradiction: Paul did everything he could to destroy that foundation that has been given to God’s chosen and sealed to not change. God’s Laws were promised to be everlasting and perfect for converting the soul. Jesus testified to this in Matt 5:17-19.

You can not get anymore contradicting than that. God said His Laws were perfect and then in Malachi He promised to never change. Paul taught the Law of God was flawed and that God had changed His mind. Jesus, as I have shown to you, disagreed with Paul as do I. 🙂

I was the one who asked for a contradiction. All that you have given me is a generalization. I want to see specifics. I think I will start a new thread.
