Is Fatima Center (fatima.org) in communion with Rome?

It appears that Fr. Gruner died in 2015.

Why not ask your priest if the Fatima Center is trustworthy?
This is a good starting point. The pastor may well direct the poster to resources in union with the Church.

In the past, the Fatima Center was not in union with their local ordinary, which is how the Church generally defines a Catholic ministry. Thus they were not in any sense a Catholic apostolate; not unofficially Catholic, not informally Catholic, not “irregular” status Catholic. Just not.

Unless the situation has changed since Fr Gruner’s death then that’s the status now.

Btw, welcome to CAF.

Ive no idea if the Fatima Centre is in communion with Rome but the SSPX is. Only five of its members (all bishops ) were ever excommunicated, and the excommunications of the surving bishops were lifted a decade ago. None of their priests or religious has ever been excommunicated.

Because most priests don’t have the time.to research these groups. They may have a staff member who is the go to person (I’m that person on our staff).

Well, that’s not exactly true. I’m aware of at least one SSPX priest in PA who was excommunicated for publicly defying the local bishop.

I don’t recall the details, but he was eventually excommunicated. This was just in the last few years.

Yeah, the last time I asked a parish priest about one of Fr. Ripperger’s organizations, he said, “I have no idea” and that was it.
I did end up joining with the organization, but I had to research it and make the decision myself.

wasn’t one of the SSPX bishops expelled by the SSPX itself? (bishop Richard Williamson I believe).
Dr Marshall is NOT going the SSPX route. He happily attends the FSSP and isn’t planing on leaving
I noticed he went to a SSPX parish for Easter. I realize they were the only ones open.

The Church never actually disputed Fr Gruner’s claims - they simply suspended him. It is highly questionable as to whether this suspension complied with the Code of Canon Law.

Fr. Gruner showed his true colors when he aligned with the Bayside Queens/ Veronica Lueken group. They were not at all credible. Such false “seers” only do damage to the true seers and the Church.

The issue was about whether a certain media ministry (Fatima Center) is in Communion with the Church. Since their media does not have permission of the local ordinary, the answer is no.

SSPX also offers media ministry. These media programs do not have permission of their local ordinary either.

If I remember right, he was suspended for disobedience to authority in refusing to return to the diocese where he was incardinated, when he was summoned.
Obedience is a pretty basic concept.

I lived in the Buffalo (where the Fatima Center is located).
Some years ago the local daily newspaper sent water purportedly from Fatima (which the Fatima Center supplies) to a laboratory to examined. The laboratory said the water could not be from Fatima.
I presumed that they filled their Fatima water bottles from tap water, saying it is from Fatima.

I personally like Fatima Center. Also Taylor Marshall is a good guy, definitely knows his stuff in Theology and Church teaching. Writing him off because he says “extreme” and “bizarre things” made me laugh, his views are far from extreme, if anything in these times they are more practical if anything. There is an unhealthy trend or mentality (at least here) to write off rather credibility and knowledgeable Catholic authors, theologians, PHDs etc because their views hurt our feelings or make us uncomfortable.

Feel free to give an example of some feature from the Fatima Center that you found helpful or practical, to inspire or guide your actions.

Perhaps some of us are quick to reject some source that some people find beneficial. But the question on this thread was not “is the Fatima Center good or bad”. That’s a judgement call with a range of responses.

The actual question was whether it is in Communion with the Church. That’s not a matter of opinion, it’s a measurable criterion, yes or no.

There are Evangelical sources I usually find “better” (more appealing, more interesting) than my Diocesan newspaper. But they are not in Communion with the Church.

I can’t speak for an entire society or website. The Fatima Center, helped me see the importance of the rosary. That and also Sensus Fidelium. Fr. Isaac Mary is also one of the my favorite pastors from the Center. Specifically his preaching on the last 4 things, the rosary and spiritual warfare have been inspiring for me. I haven’t seen or noticed a formal condemnation or warning by Rome on the Fatima Center, Perhaps on Fr. Gruner but not the Fatima center. As as I know I haven’t heard any trouble regarding it’s communion or avoiding it other than here unsurprisingly

He left.

We could all use more teaching on these things.

This was so recent. I didn’t know about this until you sent this. very sad that he left but I’m sure it was nothing very personal has the article mentions. I have a friend that knows him a bit personally as he goes to his local church but doesn’t talk to him much. He’s such a nice and warm hearted priest and goes to adoration almost daily.
