Is illegal immigration a sin?

So, I haven’ a lot of knowledge on this subject. If I understand it, this is the argument that some have suggested:

Laws fall into two catagories, divine laws, and human laws.

Human laws can be good, but they can also go against divine aw, in which case they are bad.

The right to migrate is part of divine law - it is part of human nature.

Restricting migration is therefore a human law, but it can be an acceptable, just, and necessary law if it is protecting other natural rights.

Overly restricting migration for reasons that are unjust, however, is against divine law, and as such cannot be condoned. Those who disobey such a law may have reduced culpability. In some cases, it might be a duty to break the law.

THe US currently has overly restrictive immigration laws. We can see this because there are far more jobs available than there are workers to fill them, and yet immigration quotas are not increased.

So we could say the US has a large portion of the responsibility in creating a situation where people in need, trying to use their natural and divine desire to migrate in such circumstances, are being thwarted for unjust reasons. This reduces their culpability when they break the law.
Restrictive immigration laws? Estimate Average: 162,651.2 Illegals here count from at leaast 43 states does this look restrictive to you by any means?

What do you want just take away border control so we can end up like a third world country?

I dont know about you but I enjoy being able to drink water from my kitchen sink with out having to worry about getting sick.

I enjoy having clean streets Garbage pick up and clean restraunts to go out to eat.

Illegal Immigration Costs California Over Ten Billion Annually Thats just 1 state.

I’m willing to bet that most people living outside of the Denver metro are not aware that in the fall of 1999 five Asian gang members, illegal aliens as it was reported many years latter, kidnapped and gang raped a University of Colorado coed. Initiation rites were involved and they specifically targeted a “white woman.”

If it wasn’t for the archiving efforts of some groups fighting illegal immigration general knowledge of such incidents would be lost to all but the most serious researcher

•he overall financial impact of illegal alien crimes is estimated at between $14.4 and $81 billion or more per year. Factor in the crime as a result of the cocaine and other drugs being smuggled in and the number may reach $150 billion per year.

In recent Testimony of District Attorney John M. Morganelli before the House Subcommittee on immigration, Border, Security and Claims he stated:

“Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent social security numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses represent some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal aliens on a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status.
In addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today’s federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens.”

Still think illegal immigration is a “victimless crime” and we don’t need to control our borders?

In tolerating illegal immigration, how many Americans do YOU accept being molested, raped and murdered each year to save ten cents on a head of lettuce?

As for our Catholic Church

Catholic Church and the Immigration Debate
May 7, 2009 by Robert Fay

The U.S. immigration debate is really not about immigration per say (i.e. legal immigration), but about illegal immigration. Now while the Catholic Church is highly sympathetic to the struggles and challenges that immigrants face – after all Jesus Christ, the Blessed Mother, and St. Joseph were immigrants in Egypt for a time – the Church also appreciates that nations have a right to regulate their borders.

The Catechism also stresses that immigrants and foreigners should be grateful to the their new home, and try to learn its ways and customs:

“Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.”

Such as obtaining legal visitation , work permits and obeying the laws.

Illegal immigrant is not obeying the laws and they are well aware of this i.e. the word illegal.

“Illegal” is just whatsoever legislators such as Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank decide, and it seems to serve them well to have frightened, cowering workers in our fields and kitchens, and allows the self-righteous to brand them as “criminals” and to look down upon them and judge their souls as “thieves,” and as “sinners” for not kissing Nancy Pelosi’s feet.

In the case of migrants leaving their country and comming to the states with out proper documentaion that does make them a criminal theres an unpolital reason while their called Illegal aliens fact is it is against the laws of our great country.

Its not about looking down on anyone its about keeping our country safe.

Maybe these questions will get you to think in the right direction…

Just out of curioutisy how would you handle illegal immigrants?

Open the borders completely?

Dont check anyone identity when they come in via foot plane or vehicle.

Just keep things the way they are?

Dont worry about the ones already here even though we have no idea on what their criminal back ground is?

I bet you cant answer any these question intelligently with out adding some restrictions and the restrictions you add youll always have someone who disagrees.

Or will you not answer them at all and still continue with Nancy Pelosi and Barney propaganda.

Is it a sin? No. As long as it is the ONLY way to support your family. However, do not be tricked by anyone saying that as a Catholic you must agree with illegal immigration, and help illegals. You don’t.

THe US currently has overly restrictive immigration laws. We can see this because there are far more jobs available than there are workers to fill them, and yet immigration quotas are not increased. quote from bluegoat

Most people have no idea that when an illegal has been caught living here they are jailed
await a trial date and in some cases given a bail option.

Its treated just like any other crime.

And there it is “white” and thus the problem how much should being “white” count, …more important, why do you ask?

What is the chance the man with groceries will have his citizenship checked???

And if a short, dark to red skinned man with flat black hair is driving a grey chevy truck there, what is the chance his citizenship will be checked? Because that is how we really know how much being “white” counts.
That man with groceries would not have been stopped to having citizenship being checked he would have been stopped for fitting the discription of another white man that commited a crime Please go back and read the scenario again and maybe a third time beause you really missed the point…UGH

Why are you so wrapped up about this being racial? Are trying to end this argument of keeping our country safe by Making it about race discrimination?..LOL Rather silly

Im glad your not running the borders.

Im not afraid of NOT being pollitically correct because the TRUTH is NOT always pollitically correct…But thats another blog;)

This is a very interesting question, which gives rise to many thoughts in my mind.
There was a thread some months ago where the original poster asked if it is all-right to shoot abortion doctors. Almost everyone who posted said that it is wrong to break the law. Not just when it comes to shooting someone, but that it is wrong to break any law…
Now suddenly posters are saying many things about how it is okay to break the law. It seems that some people seem to decide whether it is okay to break the law simply on whether they already like something or not (though I doubt this is true of everyone who has posted on this thread.)
Personally I don’t know if being an illegal immigration is a sin or not. I doubt that priests hear more than a rare person confess that he is an illegal immigrant. It seems more likely to be a sin if they have stolen someone’s identity or perhaps voted for president in a U.S. election. But otherwise this is one for more consideration for my part.
Hear is what I think…Trying not to look like some sort of conspiracy theorist

By introducing “pollitically correctness” this means whenever you open your mouth
and try to stand up for something whether its your country, religion, school whatever your defending and if some or one finds it offensive Doesnt matter if your correct or telling the truth
your automatically the bad guy/gal. In this way it causes divisions It allows for sinful lifstyles it allows for many tollerances even the church and Gods Word wont allow.

the old saying if you dont stand for something youll fall for anything rings true

The Catholic Church is not pollitically correct, God isnt and doesnt need to be (its his way or the highway) and the truth isnt always pollitically correct.

Alas, more race-tinted arguments, which is surprising for one supposedly griping about the mention of racial attitudes in a discussion on immigration. Trying to smear 30 million peaceful immigrants with the actions of 5 individuals is not a way to further charity and justice on a Catholic website.

I think your out in left field. I have one member blaming me being racest against Mexicans and now you against Asians.

Its an article given about 5 illegal individuals not the whole Asian race

If your black, white, brown, yellow, purple and your here illegally thats breaking the law.

Your twisting what I say Where did I mention 30 million peaceful immigrants?

If your going to bare false witness against me atleast use my own words.

I stand behind what ive written as its factual and truth My countrys laws and the Catholic Churches laws…The truth isnt always popular

Ive sited news stories in this case youve tried to intrap me with being racest against Asians which is totally rediculous if anything I was trying to show this post is about any illegals not just one particular race.

In any new article about illegal crime it is mentioned what race they are Its not meant as a “smear” as you so elligantly put to that particular race.

Should I make it fair and pull news articles for all the races that are here illegally? would that make you feel better?

How many Canadians have you seen protesting illegal immigration laws? Really it is was it is.

Read the stats you act like Im making this all up.

Did I state anything false if so you need to let me know so I can make correction/apologise
I am willing to admit my mistakes. Are you?

Perhaps you didnt see my questions to you earlier Or maybe you refuse to answer these loaded questions I answerd you back. I think if you answer these questions and be honest with the answers we may just come to a reasonable agreement.

Atleast this way we can have an intillectual debate and you wont have to call me out as a racest.

Think long and hard about that.

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN

Are we “SLOW LEARNERS” or what?

Theodore Roosevelt on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile…We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt The passages were culled from a letter he wrote to the president of the American Defense Society on January 3, 1919, three days before Roosevelt died.

God Bless America and if I am the only red blooded American to stand up for border control then so be it.

God Bless our Coast Gaurd the unsung heroes that risks their lives everyday to protect you and I from illegal aliens and drug smuglers.

God Bless the men and women who risk their lives everday to PROTECT our borders and our way of life even they protect your right to free speach even if its against the one who protect you to speak out against them.

Even if all the kudos go to our men and women overseas that protect your rights lets not forget the ones on our home front that also die in the war against illegal aliens and drug smugglers.

In my humble opinion when you speak out against border control you speak out against the fine people who risk thier lives to keep our borders safe so you can sleep at night.
After all you only have the right to free speach because our statseside military helps protect that right.

Its realy Shameful.

Its very interesting how sheeple fall for the latest trends when so called Christians are not supposed to live a secular worldly life.

“You need only reflect that one of the best ways
to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days
is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding
fathers used in the great struggle for independence.”
  • Charles Austin Beard (1874-1948)
Idiocracy wonder where they got the idea to write that movie.

Please tell me your not really a Texan

First of all its just COMMON SENENSE Most jobs these days require check your back ground even if your a citizen Its called a BACKGROUND CHECK. In your mentality by your question What makes you think a stranger to you is a " *killer, rapest, child meloster, theif Its not that a person company or goverment thinks every immigrant or possible future employee is a criminal its a safegaurd.

You playing “the race card” is a cheap shot * So you choose to make these accusations and then spin baby spin when asked to document such. By not answering the question, you in fact answer it. There is no reason to believe such.
I am American Indian and Itallian my wife is from Peru.

That man with groceries would not have been stopped to having citizenship being checked he would have been stopped for fitting the discription of another white man that commited a crime Please go back and read the scenario again and maybe a third time beause you really missed the point…UGH
HE DID NOT HAVE HIS CITIZENSHIP CHECKED HE WAS WHITE

(actual post) If the police get a call about a bank being robbed witnesses say it was a white man in a grey chevy truck and at the same time another white man in his grey chevy truck comming back from the same area from buying groceries for his family is seen by the police do they not have a right to pull him over and check it out? or is that not considerd to be racial profiling because he happens to be white?

That is the whole reason the law is immoral and counters divine law. The law does not, never has, and never did require any WHITE person to have their citizenship checked. If the law required all to be checked fine, similarly if none are required fine.
And there it is again, over and over What is the politically incorrect issue ( wink, wink, nod, nod,…and hide the truth)

So you choose to make these accusations and then spin baby spin when asked to document such. By not answering the question, you in fact answer it. There is no reason to believe such. so their treatment and rights are based on your ancestry? as did all 9/11 terrorist, did that change what they did? It means lies are the bases for the current anti immigration rhetoric. Look at your one and only source:

]Putting things in their proper perspective, most **crime is actually down **and since 1993
…How much of that is consequence of illegal alien crimes is largely unknown because NOBODY IS TRACKING IT…
…NOBODY really knows …
…Then too, the FBI and Justice Dept. just don’t track it…
…it must be stressed that the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families…
Your source cannot report the plan facts because the facts undermine his accusations. Same for you and the others who make and propagate these claims, no facts just accusations, even accusation which go counter to fact. As when immigration increased crime decreased that is the fact.
Code:
I'll file that next to the price of eggs in China file, again please explain why my responsibility is proportional to Mexico's response. I see that nowhere in church teaching
If you believe Mexico is best why not move? Is it because you want to hoard US resources? Isn’t that what all of this is really about a desire to hoard resources.?

First of all 1 crime by an illegal alien is 1 less crime we dont need. Its 1 crime too many.

Vast majority of illegals are decent people? How many decent people do you know break the law?
And really its not about good people or bad people comming over Its about following the laws of our great country and if you have an issues with those laws. GET INVOLVED AND CHANGE THEM!

.it must be stressed that the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families

You mention families here and AGAIN I say do you know what happens when you caught here? JAIL DEPORTATION is this good parenting would you put your kids at risk going to a foreihgn country knowing at any time this is a possiblity? Rediculous.

Me move to Mexico? No thank you I enjoy drinking clean water and love this country. Again you missed the point. The point was that the same country most of these Illegals come from have strictor rules about immigration than we do. Either you missed the point
or you just took another cheap shot

So why do you think its okay to break a countries laws to build a better life?

As for the Justice dept and fbi it is what it is I dont know why they dont create stats for IIs
But the states do! you have the internet check it out STATE by STATE as they do document illegal criminal activities Atleast the ones where they are caught!

guess its just me and Gov Brewer LOL

Again and Ill type slowly for you. This story is about racial profiling not immigration checkpoints.

While in the story its true he wasnt asked for a green card But he was white and he was profiled.

The moral of this story is racial profiling as its a must at times. Thats it. I suspect you read much more to it then what is actually there. To twist things around.

Im not buying it So dont even try to sell it.

How can you say our immigration laws are immoral? Lets state honestly here would you say there are more brown illegals here or whites?

My wager would be more brown illegals matter of fact I would say the majority illegals here are from Mexico and last I checked majority of Mexicans are darker complected than most whites.

In perspective how many white people from Canada do we have crossing the border illegally? How many Inuits do you see sneaking across the border?

So if you are white or indian or African American Yes its true your probably wont be racial profiled as an illegal immigrant Because You dont have that many Whites, African Americans and Eskimos living in Mexico tryiny to cross the border illegally If there are illegal Eskimos from Mexico here Ive never heard of it…lol

Your trying to bake a cake out of cardboard here.

So if you have a van full of brown people comming in from Mexico what does your common sense tell you?

Do you not think our border patrol already does this? Youd be a fool to think otherwise

Or would you think we shouldnt pull this van over because we dont want to hurt anyones feelings Its shows racial profiling.

A lot of crime has been stopped under suspicious circumstances and the law allows for this and with good cause.Because theres a good chance they are correct and a seasoned officer usually is.

Before you make judgement on border control I would suggest you talk to a border patrol agent and ask him/her what they think. Have you ever thought about that?? Go to a Coast Gaurd station talk to the men and women actually doing the job and see where their loyaties lie. Maybe youll have a change of heart talking to someone who actually has to deal with this dangerous issue day after day I would be will to bet if you have an open heart youll walk away with a different point of view.

Let me guess your hispanic and Ive offended you by standing up for particular laws in this country you find offisive. Is that it? Because your arguments dont hold any water You seem to be a bit “spirited” in your debate as if your taking this personal Thats why I ask.
Or do you volunteer somewhere for illegal immigration rights and it just struck a nerve?

Maybe if you would check the facts there would be no need to guess? Let me offer you a chance to see the future, I have crossed many, many borders many, many times so have most Americans. It is a foolish group who points out one section of one border and typical one group who they wish to not allow to cross. I’ll bet you live by a city with borders, a county with borders, a state with borders, those borders are crossed constantly and no problem exists! Yet you insist that one section of one border and one group should be made illegal and that group has no crime history, and that group desires no crime, without your type there would be no problem there either.

And there it is again, over and over What is the politically incorrect issue ( wink, wink, nod, nod,…and hide the truth)
Ok this one of your did strike a chord Because Although my ehtnicity skin tone is dark black hair and dark eyes etc… My self I am light skinned.I dont fit the steriotypical
Native American/Italian profile.

Being “white” I had my vehicle stopped and check by TWO check point (border control) comming back from Mexico. They didnt care what colour I was I had to prove my citizenship…Does that confuse you?

I suggest you take a trip out to Terminal D and see how the “whites” are detained, checked for visas etc… maybe that will make you feel better.I suspect you dont travel much by your comment.

You said the truck was grey Ok and where did I say it wasnt grey? Did you confuse greencard with grey truck?

Maybe if you would check the facts there would be no need to guess? There was a method behind the madness I wanted to “guess” to proove a point.

**Let me offer you a chance to see the future, I have crossed many, many borders many, many times so have most Americans. It is a foolish group who points out one section of one border and typical one group who they wish to not allow to cross. Simple question why do you suppose they single out spacific borders and groups? **The answer is because the majority of illegal immigrants sneak accross spacific borders and they are from a spacic group. Its not rocket science by any means

I’ll bet you live by a city with borders, a county with borders, a state with borders, those borders are crossed constantly and no problem exists! Your right because those “borders” are not bordering Mexico where people are sneaking accross illegally Thats why no problem exist

Yet you insist that one section of one border and one group should be made illegal and that group has no crime history, and that group desires no crime, without your type there would be no problem there either.
I never stated 1 group I stated the “majorty” You have to admit the majorty of Illegals are Mexican. Can we agree on that? I think most level headed people would agree.

Crossing the border with out proper documentation and aproval is a crime

Im sorry you feel offended for the laws of the land and if you feel this strongly about the illegal immigrant issuet then I suggest writing Rick Perry,Obama,Congress to try to change things.

News flash I didnt not make the immigration laws.

Would I vote for immigration laws like whats happening in Arizona… You can bet your bottom dollar I would.

Heres a question yes I admit its a loaded question (how many people do you know would admit to a loaded question before asking?) But I want to make this fair.

HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE IMMIGRANTS COMMING TO OUR COUNTRY ILLEGALLY?

Next question closer to home: If you went on vacation for two weeks when you came back home and find several people broke into your house, ate your food etc… But cleaned your house
because they wanted better place to live, a better house Would you be okay with that?
