Hmm, I used to be ‘personally pro life’ but ‘pro choice’ in general because I didn’t want to enforce anything. I then realized it was just me trying to appease people.
The same doesn’t work when you replace abortion with another sin. Would you say ‘I’m personally against slavery, but if they want to own slaves, that is their business’.
Not really right? Because if you’re truly against something, you wouldn’t support someone else doing it.
But abortion isn’t like adultery or rape; crimes and sins which are very black and white and definitely wrong. I don’t personally like it. I would never do that to me or my child.
This is the root of your issue here. You don’t actually see abortion as this huge evil. There’s an inconsistency (not being mean, just pointing this out) in your logic. Why do you not like it? Why would you never do it?
If I say ‘I personally don’t like slavery, I would never have one. But I wouldn’t be against it legally’, I’m immediately watering down the morality of it. Being pro life is now a religious matter, instead of a moral one. Which isn’t accurate.
I would suggest watching the recent Change My Mind

ro life videos on YouTube. I don’t really like the guy because of how uncharitable he is sometimes, but it’s a good video to watch because some of the students have similar views as yours, and he questions them very respectfully about it. I think it will help you to understand the issue more.
