I don’t want to start a democrat vs republican debate, but I have heard so many different things about Joe Biden’s view on abortion. My simple question: is he pro-life or pro-choice?
Thanks

He’s pro choice.

No matter what he says about being ‘personally opposed’ he supports legislation that provides for abortion.

It’s terrible.

Like most Americans, he is both pro-life and pro-choice.

Many will tell you that is impossible.

I am one of those who would agree that it’s impossible. One can’t personally believe that abortion is murder yet think that other people should be allowed to do it. There are some who try to wiggle out of moral responsibility for their beliefs by telling themselves that, but it doesn’t work.

It goes back to an old joke.

Interviewer: “What is your stand on X?”
Politician: “That depends. What do the polls say?”

Biden will not take a pro-life position - no way, no how. There’s no way the DNC would have allowed a pro-life Democrat to get this far.

Well, it’s not a “pro-life” attitude to be indifferent towards the legality of abortion, or work to promote abortion in the world, so that might be where that idea comes from.

Biden supports the current policy of abortion on demand. Joe Biden voted for the Harkin Amendment to endorse Roe v. Wade, which allows abortion for any reason.
Joe Biden supports using tax dollars to pay for abortion. Joe Biden says he will overturn the Hyde Amendment. Joe Biden voted for taxpayer funding of overseas pro-abortion organizations

One can’t personally believe that abortion is murder yet think that other people should be allowed to do it.
So given the children around the world who die as a result of lack of access to clean water, food, medicine and proper housing, why do pro-life US politicians not support wars to conquer the lands where this happens and provide basic services? If not they are, as you put it, “allowing it to happen” by not using the power of the state against it. And in the US why do not the same politicians use the power of the state to provide the essentials children need to overcome unnecessary child mortality as an absolute priority?

Don’t miss the acceptance speech at the convention. The nominee for the Democrat party, whether Biden or anyone else, will not only state his/her support for “reproductive rights”, it will sound like the climax of the speech. This can be practically guaranteed. And the excitement you’ll hear by the crowd and in the pitch of the candidate’s voice will show you not just their stance on this issue, but also the level of expectation they want to set for action on it.

He is pro-choice. It doesn’t matter what a politician personally thinks about abortion (or any topic for that matter). What matters is how he votes and what policies he promotes/pushes.

If one says that he is personally pro-life but political pro-choice, then he is pro-choice through and through.

That’s being generous. He has been a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood on a personal level.

You may submit that question to his Campaign website.
you said
I take the man at his word
I was interested in what “he” said and not the campaign message.

he has said so much and a lot of it doesn’t make sense, I was just wondering which “his word” you were taking him at.

do you believe as president he will sign off on pro-abortion laws?
