Is yoga demonic or no?

Ah, but going to Mass is a different thing to merely acting out the outward ritual of the Mass - say in a scene in a play or a movie. No-one would say watching or acting in a movie or theatrical scene in which a Mass is acted out is in any way a spiritual thing.

Going to Mass presupposes that it is intended by the participants as an act of worship - people generally don’t go to Mass for any non-spiritual reason. It’s not like the tanding and kneeling gives them a great workout or anything! Acting out the Mass in a play or movie looks exactly the same but has that intent lacking and therefore is non-spiritual.
So are you saying youre not really exercising, youre just pretending and acting out that you are?

According to your logic, one can engage in those activities as just games and nothing more. At least thats how im perceiving it.

Anyway, if you could find me a quote by the Pope that says YOGA IS OKAY OR GOOD, then Ill drop it. Im not trying to convince anyone and I dontt have anything personal attached to or against it, I just trust the word of Church officials who know better.

And 2 of th 8 limbs are Yama and Nimyama:

Yamas are
  1. Ahimsa – Compassion for all living things
  2. Satya – Commitment to Truthfulness
    3 Asteya - Non-stealing
  3. Brahmacharya - Sense control
  4. Aparigraha - Neutralizing the desire to acquire and hoard wealth
Niyama are
  1. Sauca - Purity
  2. Santosa - Contentment
  3. Tapas – Disciplined use of our energy
  4. Svadhyaya – Self study
  5. Isvarapranidhana - “to lay all your actions at the feet of God.”
Are you just as adamently against these aspects of yoga?
Yes I am against them, because the yamas and niyamas are about doing your duty, or dharma (as I understand it). Doing your duty is something that allows the Hindu/Yogi to turn inward to find the “inner divine.” Yamas and Niyamas are about getting rid of obstacles so one can find their “true self.” Yamas and Niyamas are not about lifting the heart and soul to God.

While most of these are great values to have and practice, they do not include our Lord Jesus Christ.

And I would ask you likewise to find me a quote by the Pope that says playing Twister is Ok or even good - as opposed to being, as I have asserted, every bit as much a pathway to the demonic as Yoga. 🤷

Let me get this straight. You are against compassion, truth, purity, non-stealing, self control, etc?

How do these exclude Jesus?

It has been stated, as described as occasion of sin and lust…if played inappropriately such as naked. It wasnt strictly for the game Twister, but all actions that encompass lust 🙂

Just as the Church teaches against divination, of all forms, regardless of what they are. And it jas been SPECIFICALLY NOTED that Yoga is not compatible with Catholicism.

Now its your turn to find out, since youre defending it, where it says its OK 😛

Ends dont justify the means.
So nonspiritual exercise is forbidden? Where is the Church document on that?

You presuppose that all exercises and positions that look like something that certain Hindus practice as part of their religion cannot be separated from the religion. If that is the case, putting your hands together, as you do in Church, means you are practicing Yoga, Hinduism, and/or Buddhism. You can’t argue otherwise and have a consistent argument.

It’s all about intent. I believe exercises are exercises. You do not. Therefore if you did these exercises you would be practicing this religion, because you associate certain things with worship.

Then its your job to explain the difference or your logic is contradictory.

Pope Benedict > ValPal 👍

Its wrong. Some 13 year old vampire goth probably wrote that up.

A pentagram is an inverted five pointed star, representing the Goat of Mendes or whatever. Its satanic otherwise satanists wouldnt use it. Duh 🤷
That inverted cross they use? Yeah, it’s actually called a Petrine cross, named after Pope St. Peter who was crucified upside down

There’s also nothing that explicitly says it’s bad 🤷

LETTER TO THE BISHOPS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ON SOME ASPECTS OF CHRISTIAN MEDITATION
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
  1. Some physical exercises automatically produce a feeling of quiet and relaxation, pleasing sensations, perhaps even phenomena of light and of warmth, which resemble spiritual well-being. To take such feelings for the authentic consolations of the Holy Spirit would be a totally erroneous way of conceiving the spiritual life. Giving them a symbolic significance typical of the mystical experience, when the moral condition of the person concerned does not correspond to such an experience, would represent a kind of mental schizophrenia which could also lead to psychic disturbance and, at times, to moral deviations.
That does not mean that genuine practices of meditation which come from the Christian East and from the great non-Christian religions, which prove attractive to the man of today who is divided and disoriented, cannot constitute a suitable means of helping the person who prays to come before God with an interior peace, even in the midst of external pressures.

Who said anything about the cross?

Just priests and then-Cardinal Ratzinger. Even if it is just their lil ole opinions, they still know better and I trust them more than random persons online. That is my point now 😉

How about the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith ? If they cannot ease your conscience I will no longer try either.

But what if we gave some of the poses Christian names and meaning for prayer much like what we already do with kneeling & prostration? For example, any twisting could be linked to meditation on conversion, breathing with the Holy Spirit. We can honor and praise God with our bodies. Again Romans 14:6 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. Everything we do can be to the Lord with thanks unless you believe that some postures are intrinsically evil. And it sounds as if you do. But I do not agree and I think you misunderstand “priests and then-Cardinal Ratzinger” if you do, friend.

I would think that goth would be even more mature than this response.

No, it’s just a shape. Heck, I drew pentagrams both inverted and right side up when I was grinding my brain against geometry problems. As much as I wish to call Math a demonic subject, consider yourself lucky I don’t let my touchy feelings cloud my intellectual judgment.
I dont know anything about the Lutheran church so who knows 🤷

What is your opinion on seances and ouija boards?
Folks, if you want a fine example of the spiritiual warfare camp grasping straws and tossing red herrings, look no further than to posts like this.

Says a guy who encouraged an unsure poster in another thread to mess around with dangerous things such as the 72 Demons of the Goetia.

Oh the exercise is real enough - but since according to you yoga is not exercise but worship I would add that I am most certainly not worshipping 🙂

Excuse me? Do you have proof? You do know that unfounded accusations are a grave forum violation right? This is the second time you charged me with this and guess what? You bailed the last time! First it was all that nonsense about Marian apparitions and now it’s Goetia.

From now on, I will be calling those two posts in your next responses. Unless you can substantiate your claim, it is you who will be exposed.

I started including various yoga stretches (amongst other things) in my exercise routine probably about 32 years ago. I have no idea what the 72 Demons of the Goetia are. It sounds like something I’d see if I drank too much absinthe. In the meantime, I’m WAY more of a Catholic now than I was back then. How did that happen?

Can you link it though? I must’ve made a ton of posts like that when dealing with the likes of CT’s camp. You’d think they’d go on a crusade just from someone calling a wooden stick a magic wand.
