… Later the pagans of Makkah took many gifts and went to Habshah to reclaim the Muslim migrants. But the christian king of Habsha (Ethiopia) refused to give back the refugees.

.**
The king Najjashi asked the Muslims to recite something from Quran . A Muslim recited chapter Mary (p) . While listening to the recitation , King’s eyes filled with tears . later he drew a line in earth & told something like that difference between Muslims & Christians is not more than this line.

Is there a Non-Muslim source for this?

As near as I can tell, there is not enough dirt on the earth to draw a long enough line to show the difference between Islam and Christianity.

Ralph, you are not king Najashi of Habshah. That king could draw a suitable line to describe the difference in the beliefs of Muslims and christians. But you are unable to do that good work.

I question that that king even existed!! I want to see proof from history of that story, and not from a Muslim website. This seems to me to be another cute little Muslim anticdote: it is a sweet little story that cannot be proven and makes Islam look superior to everything else.

I could say that as people, there are no differences between Muslims and Christians. That would be correct. We all have the same anatomy, hopes, and desires. We all have the same needs and wants. However, as a faith system, they are as close as sushi and pine nuts.

Debating with a Muslim seems a lost cause. It is not because their argument is superior, it is their uncompromising style believing Islam as the last and only true religion everyone should have. For most of them Islam can not be compromised because of one ordinary person name Mohammed who revealed to them the supposed words of God, while on the other hand, other religious faithful especially Christians will repute them with evidences and rationale behind and beyond that argument. What then the reasons behind the hardness of their hearts and minds? What could be the real reason committing them to a belief that we thought impossible to be true? One possible reason is because most of them grew up with embedded teachings of Islam in their mind, that Islam is infallible and should be believed without doubt. But how about those who were converted? What could be the cause of their action or the rationale behind? The best answer I can think of is perhaps that they did not fully understood their previously held faith, or that they find Islam as either more conforming to God or that something in Islam attracted them, not because Islam is more divinely revealed but a principle in life they can live by.

Is Mohammed more convincing than the whole story of the Holy Bible? What made Muslims to accept him as the messenger of God? What is in the Quran so special or majestic that it can be considered the true words of God? Why are they not in unison in the interpretation of the Quran? Some say it is peaceful but others finds the Quran as a “command” of God that needs to be obeyed to the point of slaughtering those who oppose it. This is just a first part of an essay I want to share.

Ralph, You called for history. Here it is:
History
Prelude
After the conversion of Hamza, the companions of Muhammad began to offer prayers publicly. In turn, the Quraysh intensified their opposition by torturing the Muslims. Muhammad told his followers to leave for Ethiopia, where "a king rules without injustice, a land of truthfulness-until God leads us to a way out of our difficulty."

First migration

** In seventh Islamic month (Rajab) of 7 BH (614–615 CE) [1], eleven men and four women undertook the first migration [2].

They sneaked out of Mecca on a dark night and headed for the sea where two boats happened to be sailing for their destination, Ethiopia. News of their intended departure reached Quraish, so some men were despatched in their pursuit, but the Muslims had already left Shuaibah Port towards their secure haven where they were received warmly and accorded hospitality by Negus, King of Abyssinia, also called al-Najashi, (Arabic: النجاشي). Among these emigrants were Uthman and Ruquyyah. [3]**

Returning

**In ninth Islamic month (Ramadan), the events regarding the Satanic verses transpired, and when news was misreported to the emigrants, they were informed that the whole of Quraish had embraced Islam so they made their way back home and arrived in tenth Islamic month (Shawwal) of 7 BH (614–615 CE) [3].

Upon return, however, they found the persecution even stronger [2].

When the returning emigrants were only an hour’s travel from Meccan, they realized that the situation. Some of the Muslims returned back to Ethiopia while the rest continued to Mecca, some sneaked in secretly while others sought asylum (Arabic: Istijarah) [3].

When the Meccan polytheists came to know the good treatment they had received in Ethiopia they became indignant and started to mete out more severe maltreatment and torture on the Muslims, thus Muhammad announced a second migration to Ethiopia.[3].**

When the Meccan polytheists…
The more you post the more we see the true hi-story of islam.

So now you just sited that the meccan are really PAGAN worshipers, your hi-story tell us that they are polytheists. So what does the black box kaaba real purpose now if the meccan has control over it?

He’s no devil. He is doing what Joseph Smith did - take what is already written and tweak it. When the devil appears we will know it. Noooow - could the devil influenced mohammeed to do somethings like this. Absolute possibility. The devil does his work in disguise. In this case, it was taking advantage og both.
He may be no devil, but i believe he is a devil worshiper, misleading other people to believe his god.

Heard of david koresh- the orgy loving, wild cult leader of Waco, Texas. I can say they are the same but this Waco loco has 140 wives compared to this moongod lover who has twenty at least.

Is there a Non-Muslim source for this?

As near as I can tell, there is not enough dirt on the earth to draw a long enough line to show the difference between Islam and Christianity.
Please ralphinal if someone told you anything regarding Islam, then always ask for the source either from the Quran or from the 9 books of hadiths, other than that its all propaganda by our Islamic clerics to polish the picture of Islam infront of the non-Arabic speakers.

However, for your question, of course you wouldn’t find other sources for that story other than the Islamic history, therefore, I have searched for you and here is the authentic hadith which mentioned that story, its a long one, but the most important parts are:
  • Najashi indeed shed tears when they recited one Surah of Quran for him, and he said “that and what Moses brought are coming from the same source”.
  • On the next day, someone told Najashi that Muslims say some serious things against Jesus, then Najashi called them again and asked them what they say about Jesus, they said he is the slave of Allah and his messenger and his spirit and his word to Virgin Mary, then Najashi hit the ground by his fist and he griped a stick and said “except Jesus you didn’t say this stick” (i.e., referring that what you said in the previous day is true expect the information about Jesus which is the backbone (the stick) is not true).

Peace (Salaams) to all who follow guidance 🙂

:: Muhammad (PBUH) and Negus - the king of Abyssinia ::

The discourse which took place between Ja’far and Negus is but an example of the teachings which were revealed to the Prophet r:

"Say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)): ‘O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah.’

Then, if they turn away, say: ‘Bear witness that we are Muslims.” [3:64]

Eventually, the Prophet r invited Negus to Islam through a messenger, ‘Amr bin Omaiyah Ad-Damari. As a response, Negus took the parchment and placed it on his eye, he descended to the floor, confessed his faith in Islam and wrote the following reply to the Prophet r:

“In the Name of Allah,
the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

From Negus Ashama to Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah! and mercy and blessing from Allah beside Whom there is no god. I have received your letter in which you have mentioned about Jesus and by the Lord of heaven and earth, Jesus is not more than what you say.

We fully acknowledge that with which you have been sent to us and we have entertained your cousin and his companions. I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah, true and confirming (those who have gone before you), I pledge to you through your cousin and surrender myself through him to the Lord of the worlds.”

Negus later died in Rajab 9 A.H. The Prophet r announced his death and observed prayer in absentia for him. … It is said that it was not only Negus who was moved to tears by the words of the Qur’an, but also those bishops who were in his company. This, in itself, is worthy of contemplation. The fact that a learned king willingly humbles himself to a parchment in public, speaks volumes of not only the message but the messenger

That King did not know that Quran’s chapter about Mary was almost a direct copy of Pseudo-Matthew which came 300 years prior to Quran. The muslims should have talked to the local bishop instead of a King.

He let them stay as long as they liked, even allowed them to pray in the big mosque without any restriction.
If Muhammad let the Christian pray in the big mosque, why can’t the follower of Muhammad do the same today???

When Muhammad kissed the black stone, his followers do the same until today, although such practice never been mentioned in Quran.

Peace (Salaams) to all who follow guidance 🙂

Muhammad was supposed to be illiterate, correct? How come there was a letter from him???

Can you name the bishop present there?? Make sure he was not from the “heresy” group such as the Nestorian or the Arian. Can you even distinguish Nestorian, Arian and the correct Christian??? If you can’t, please don’t jump into a conclusion too fast.

Thank you to everyone who pointed out information on the Ethiopean story. I also found that there was a king of Ethiopia who sheltered some Muslims. That much is true.

Now, about the little story. We have two versions, one that says the king SAW that Islam missed the Truth about Jesus, and one that did not. The one where the King saw the difference is a hadith. The other is not.

Which am I to beleive?

It depends on who you are directing your question to, brother.

well, if someone would believe in anything other than Quran and Hadith, then we should also believe that Muhammed was born 4 years after his father death, this information is found in the same books that tell the story about that Najashi false story, so if someone would believe Najashi story logically he should also believe Muhammed story, not taking what polish Islam and leave what show its reality.

Ralph, please keep on doubting. Someday the truth will forsake you forever.

**swariffin, We admit that Muhammad never wrote with his hand. But he was The Leader, The Prophet, The Man in charge. He was leading the people. He could dictate and have the letter sent to the kings. He was mor ethan a king. Tell me, Do the kings write their letters themselves?

Perhaps, nexttime you will raise an objection, how could Muhammad go to Rome to deliver a letter to the christian King kaisar. And How he could go to Egypt to deliver a letter there to the King.
I suppose all your objections of this type are unfounded.**

I doubt that as I am a Catholic, a member of the CHurch founded by Jesus Christ, Son of God, only Beggotten son of the Father, who was crucified and is now Risen from the Dead.

No, dear planten, I am not in danger of having the truth forsake me, as I ama member of the only faith that possesses fullness of Truth here on earth.

Don’t forget that Jesus said that he is the way, the TRUTH, and the life and no one comes to the Father EXCEPT through him.

I guess that is another way Muhammed called him a lier.

The Body of Christ which composes of christians worldwide is the Chruch of Christ. If you are inferring that the Catholic Church is the only Christian faith that is possesses the Truth - you miss a point that many priests, pastors will agree to the - the Truth is “possessed” by no faith - it is the Holy Spirit that sends the wisdom of God to the hearts of repentant bleieves everywhere - baptist, methodist, etc. I can read the catechism and believe in what is says - that does not mean the church “possesses” the the 'Truth". Food for thought - I know what you mean, but the Truth follows the Holy Spirt to the heart of the believer. My take on it.🙂
