i know that God can do what he likes, but don’t you find it doubtful that he changed his mind so quickly without reason? i think God must have reason to everything He does…i dont think his actions are arbitrary; didnt allah know that the kaaba is the place to muslims? why then start with Jerusalem? as far ias i believe, God doesn’t change his mind in these matters.
is there anywhre in the Qu’ran where it says to face Jerusalem and pray?

Faith101:
Yes, all Muslims, from the chinese to the indians, have to say the 5 prayers in Arabic. Any supplication outside of that, where you are talking to Allah, asking him for something, can be said in your native tongue or however way you wish to express yourself.
so you are confirming that allah prefers arabic even thou the person doesnt understand…i think this is very limiting to the Universal God…in fact, i think it stems from a limited human racial mind.

Al-Nasikh Wal-Mansukh (Abrogating and Abrogated)

While the fundamental message of Islam (Al-Aqeeda) remains always the same, the legal rulings have varied throughout the ages. Examples of abolished, withdrawn, or abrogated verses:

Qibla changed from Al-Aqsa to Makka.

Muslims could take on twice the number of enemy instead of 10 times (8:65-66).

Paying charity before addressing the Prophet was abolished (58:12-13).

Adams daughters were married to his sons.

All food was allowed to Prophet Noah, then some food was forbidden from Bani-Israel.

it seems allah changed his mind so often.

Why are you supposed to understand? Wasn’t the language of Moses Hebrew? Wasn’t the language of Christ Palestinian Aramaic (a dialect of Hebrew)? Why does God switch to Arabic?

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 13:
Narrated Al-Bara:

The Prophet prayed facing Bait-ulMaqdis (i.e. Jerusalem) for sixteen or seventeen months** but he wished that his Qibla would be the Ka’ba (at Mecca)**. (So Allah Revealed (2.144) and he offered 'Asr prayers(in his Mosque facing Ka’ba at Mecca) and some people prayed with him. A man from among those who had prayed with him, went out and passed by some people offering prayer in another mosque, and they were in the state of bowing. He said, “I, (swearing by Allah,) testify that I have prayed with the Prophet facing Mecca.” Hearing that, they turned their faces to the Ka’ba while they were still bowing. Some men had died before the Qibla was changed towards the Ka’ba. They had been killed and we did not know what to say about them (i.e. whether their prayers towards Jerusalem were accepted or not). So Allah revealed:-- “And Allah would never make your faith (i.e. prayer) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered (towards Jerusalem). Truly Allah is Full of Pity, Most Merciful towards mankind.” (2.143)

whatever mohammad wished, boom allah sends a revelation 😉

Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic are all semite languages.
how come no one really speaks Aramaic anymore or how come Hebrew is spoken so little yet Arabic flourishes?

I’ll research this topic for you, inshAllah and come back with a response.

but Chinese and Japanese and Hindu speakers are much more than arabic…good logic?

God is not an arab; he doesnt care in what language to pray to Him…it is humans who prefer languages, hence all this arabic stuff is the projection of a human mind…the apostles in the Bible adressed people each in his own language…God’s word has no limits of language which is create by human beings.
Since the quran is preserved eternally, why didn’t allah give his teachings to the Biblical prophets in arabic?

80 % of muslims do not understand arabic yet allah revealed the quran in “plain arabic” so that “all can understand”…why on earth dont they pray in their language that they understand? who is THICK here?

you guys making the issue of Arabic bigger deal than it is. Like I said before…
PRAYERS = verses from the Qu’ran which is in ARABIC.
then it is TRANSLATED usually in the language of where the Mosque is in. as a MUSLIM you are SUPPOSED to understand the Qu’ran which has translations in most languages. However, to maintain the pure essence one should read it in ORIGINAL word it was revealed in to understand it better…

look at this way…
lets say shakespeare wrote in French… and it was translated to English… it might not have the same essence and even meanings in English. it will still be great but to get the pure and true readings of his works you would have to understand French.
it is pure and simple but too hard for your thick brains to understand.
you seem like a little kid… or atleast have the mentality of one.

I apologize that i’m not able to explain things clearly to you. Piety has nothing to do with whether or not you can understand arabic. We pray in Arabic because we pray using the words of the Quran, that was revealed by Allah in Arabic.

so it is not a personal choice, but an obligation?
Every human writing, yes. But we dont believe this was written by a human.
who wrote the quran? humans. Allah is behind it just as God is behind the Bible. It was humans who added vowels and marks to the quran; does it mean it is not divine anymore since humans added stuff?
All this applies to when you have people preaching to people. When a Muslim talks about Islam in france, they speak in french.
But this is Allah’s revealed text, revealed in Arabic, word for word, unchanged by man. This concept will not be understood, until you can understand how Muslims view the Quran.
unchanged by men? ok i’ll not talk about the hadith that prove otherwise…i’ll askthis : humans added vowels and marks, numbers ecc…how do you make sure nothing was changed?

so it is not a personal choice, but an obligation?
Here is the choice: submit to God, or submit to your own desires. If you make the first choice, then you have chosen to do as God wants you to do. If he says pray 5 times a day at these specific times in this specific direction in this specific way…then you do that.

To answer simply, yes its an obligation…a truly beautiful one.

Allah revealed the Quran to Mohamed. Quran is something recited. Since Mohamed did not know how to write or read, his companions wrote it down on paper, it didnt come down in book form. Like they wrote the words, they added the vowels…not changing the recitation at all.
unchanged by men? ok i’ll not talk about the hadith that prove otherwise…i’ll askthis : humans added vowels and marks, numbers ecc…how do you make sure nothing was changed?
Because the Prophet had many people write it and many many people memorize it, and he personally checked it to make sure it was accurate.

if you understand the verse, why dont you say it in your own language? why do you have to say it in arabic? does allah care about the meaning or language?

Translation affects the linguistic style not the meaning…you know this if you took basic translation course. If a muslim understands the meaning of : In the name of Allah the Most beneficient the most merciful, Allah wont understand/accept it unless it is : bismillahi alrahmani alrahim??

who is limited here? does allah care about language or meaning?

so it is an obligation to say it in arabic?? oh Lord, we are back to our initial question : is allah a discriminating arab or a Universal God?
Allah revealed the Quran to Mohamed. Quran is something recited. Since Mohamed did not know how to write or read,
can you tell me please why you believe this? some quranic ayas are appreciated…thx
his companions wrote it down on paper, it didnt come down in book form. Like they wrote the words, they added the vowels…not changing the recitation at all.
so humans wrote it with their hands…even thou humans err, you have faith that theydid not err…fair enough. Although muslim scholars themselves admit that many verses can be read in a dozen way which proves the inserting of vowel somewhat a shaky thing.
Because the Prophet had many people write it and many many people memorize it, and he personally checked it to make sure it was accurate.
but he did not check what Zaid’s copy was neither what Uthman burnt…it’s all a faith matter, agree?

you could do WHATEVER you want to do. no one is stopping you.however, what shows someone is more devout… someone that prays in a language the same exact way that it was originally done and they learned another language cause of God or someone that just does whatever they want to…
you can pray in any language you want, however, the actual PRAYERS i.e verses from the Qu’ran are recited in Arabic…whats such abig fuss about that? no Muslim has problem with it, why should you? ohh i know why… you want to become a Muslim but you arent sure about your Arabic pronounciation… its okay dont worry aboutit… just practice it and it will get better.

Muslim said:

your muslim sister said it is an obligation.
. no one is stopping you.however, what shows someone is more devout…
you are more devout because you pray in arabic? what does devout have to do with language? since when does God look for language not the heart to determine if someone is devout?

And why didnt allah reveal the Bible in arabic if it were eternally preserved?
you can pray in any language you want, however, the actual PRAYERS i.e verses from the Qu’ran are recited in Arabic…
isnt this a contradiction? if i want to pray in any language, it means ANY, not arabic.
whats such abig fuss about that? no Muslim has problem with it,
coz muslim cannot understand that God is beyond human-invented languages.
why should you?
because i differentiate between universal God and allah who is the projection of mohammad’s mind, the allah who pops up everytime mohammad has a desire.
ohh i know why… you want to become a Muslim but you arent sure about your Arabic pronounciation…
i know arabic dont worry…i know many languages and i pray in them all…God is not limited. And me becoming muslim? i know Jesus too well don’t worry 😉
