I sympathize with the Palestinians and believe they are good people but if one looks at the world map of where there has been trouble for the last 10 years let alone a longer period of time, over and over again unfortunately, Muslims usually seem to be involved.

Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan to a lesser extent, Syria, Egypt.

And unfortunately, it’s not an easy puzzle to solve, even places like Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria seem to have a number of people fleeing just because of economic reasons. These are the kinds of people who sometimes end up in France for wherever these protests are coming from.

I think the UN is a respected body and that the opinions of the Secretary-General are given a certain weight. Granted, individuals and individual member states are not bound by those opinions. And granted, in US domestic politics the UN is often dismissed by persons on the right side of the political spectrum.
It seems no one takes the UN seriously seeing as how often their strongly worded letters and resolutions are ignored by countries.
The UN has no troops of its own, but depends on member states to loan its soldiers. Individuals in any military sometimes commit crimes.
For example, the US does not loan troops for UN peacekeeping, however its own troops have committed crimes which could stand trial in the International Court of Justice. The US does not belong to the International Court, so such crimes have been prosecuted within the US military.
UN peacekeepers in UN uniforms have committed numerous war crimes, including rape, so it is kinda of laughable for them to condemn anything.

I thought this was a Christian forum not a political one. Most of you guys seem pre-occupied with securing US interests in the middle east and glossing over the murder of kids than perusing Christian values.
I pray you will all return to the Holy Spirit one day.

Its a NEWS forum area, and your comments are insulting, bias and narrow minded and agenda orientated. Islam is the only one who targets children and innocents. And through the entire middle east.

Hamas sets up in schools, hospitals, and homes to use children as human shields.

I’ll pray you return to the Holy Spirit also. This isn’t an area for your campaign, judgement of other Christians you know nothing about. Its about current News events.

So true and so sad for these innocents 7. . Hamas was established in 1988 and outlawed a year later. Their movement priority is, of course, Jihad. They will stop at nothing! My concern is their global recruitment. I believe their primary source is “The Islamic Covenant” and “Eye Spy” magazine. Is anyone aware of these publications/leaflets and is it true they are recruiting in our own country? Tell me I am missing something here! God bless us all!

For the sake of understanding the conflict and fostering understanding in this forum , let me share what I can hear.

I can hear jewish , Israel , Hamas , Palestinian , jihad, terrorism , Christian ,Arab , Muslims…

Some are nationalities , some are religions, some are movements , some are places of origin , some are states and so on.
What if we asked with genuine curiosity " what do you mean by…? "

For instance , " I sympathize with Americans…?"

What is it I am saying ?
I sympathize with American democracy , I symñathize with American foreign policy , I sympathize with American response to…and so on

When I say Palestinian , am I referring to the people in the parrish in Gaza , Palestinian desire to be constituted into a state , terrorists that have taken leadership , or what ??

The same goes for Israel , its leaders , jewish or the state of Israel and so on.

Please do not throw tomatoes at me ,🙂 for the sake of understanding the problem , I do not want to create one.
This sound to me as a source of conflict in this thread.
Peace and good will 🙂

I have not heard of those magazines or leaflets but I do know they recruit globally. They also use the internet to recruit. They are very sophisticated in their use of media.
I saw a series of commercials used by Hamas showing what their military campaign against Israel would be like. The ads were written in hebrew and arabic to make sure the Israelis understood.
The ads were showing the destruction of Israel.
Many people are uninformed and don’t seem to care about the facts. They have no idea what it is like for Israel to try to exist surrounded by countries that pray for their destruction.

Turkish PM Erdogan says Israel ‘surpasses Hitler in barbarism’ uk.reuters.com/article/2014/07/19/uk-israel-turkey-travel-idUKKBN0FO0XD20140719
Code:
He should get a pass on this one since Turkey is a NATO ally of the US.
Oh brother! Turkey is changing. I am not sure how much longer they will be a U.S. ally. The PM certainly has misspoken saying Israel has surpassed Hitler in barbarism.

Weren’t the Turks responsible for armenian genocide? Or am I confused about the history.

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land over the past 50 years backed up by brute force. The heartless expulsion of thousands of Palastinians from their lands into an open air concentration camp (Gaza) The denial of water to thousands, denial of facilities, eternal embargos on medical necessities, Marshall law, bombing civilians as a form of social control, whole sale mass slaughter of innocents and children?

These are the conditions which spawned Hamas.
Blaming ineffective rockets for the deliberate slaughter of little children is like blaming the victim of a rape for resisting.

No true Christian would give Israel solace at this moment.

The Christian side of me will side with Israel always vs. a terrorist organization. It is Hamas you should be blaming for the deaths of these children.

Yes, and they’ve never acknowledged/apologized for their role in the Armenian genocide.

As of 2005, Israel has left the Gaza strip, and the response to that was terrorism, i.e., Hamas has been using the Gaza strip to launch rockets into populated areas of Israel.

No true Christian would give Hamas, a terrorist organization, solace.

Hamas: 25 Facts For 25 Years
  1. Hamas takes its name from an acronym that means “Islamic Resistance Movement” in Arabic.
2. Hamas refuses to recognize the State of Israel’s right to exist as an independent, sovereign nation, and is totally opposed to any agreement or arrangement that would recognize its right to exist. At the beginning of its charter there is a quotation attributed to Hassan Al-Bana, the Muslim Brotherhood’s founder, that “Israel will arise and continue to exist until Islam wipes it out, as it wiped out what went before.”
  1. Hamas is committed to jihad. Its charter stresses the importance of jihad (holy war) as the main means for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to achieve its goals: An uncompromising jihad must be waged against Israel. Jihad is the personal duty of every Muslim.
4. Hamas is an anti-Semitic organization. According to its charter, the Jewish people have only negative traits and are presented as planning to take over the world. The charter uses myths taken from classical European and Islamic-based anti-Semitism.
  1. The Hamas Charter includes anti-Semitic myths taken from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion (mentioned in Article 32) regarding Jewish control of the media, the film industry and education (Articles 17 and 22). The myths are constantly repeated to represent the Jews as responsible for the French and Russian revolutions and for all world and local wars: “No war takes place anywhere without the Jews’ being behind it” (Article 22). The charter demonizes the Jews and describes them as brutally behaving like Nazis toward women and children (Article 29).
6. Hamas is the local Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, which recently took control of the Egyptian government.
  1. Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States, Canada, the European Union and Japan.
  1. Although members of the international community have proposed treating the political and military wings of Hamas as separate entities, the Hamas infrastructure places the political wing at the command of the military wing. As Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmad Yassin stated in 1988: “We can not separate the wing from the body. If we do so, the body will not be able to fly. Hamas is one body.”
  1. Hamas’s first ever suicide bombing took place on April 16, 1993 when a suicide bomber detonated the car in which he was driving at the Mehola Junction near Beit El.
  1. On January 27, 2002, the first female Palestinian suicide bomber, Wafa Idris, blew herself up on Jaffa Street in the heart of downtown Jerusalem, killing one person and injuring about 100 more. Hamas claimed responsibility.
  1. Hamas has been responsible for many appalling acts of terror including the suicide bombing in the Park Hotel in the coastal city of Netanya, in the midst of the Passover holiday seder with 250 guests. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack in which 30 people were killed and 140 injured – 20 seriously.
  1. In December 2011, Hamas “celebrated” its 24th anniversary, boasting that it had killed 1365 “Zionist soldiers” since 1987. Hamas does not differentiate between Israeli soldiers and civilians.
  1. Hamas won a four year term at the head of the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006 but remains in office indefinitely.
14. In June 2007, Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip through a violent coup, killing numerous Palestinians, some by pushing them off of tall buildings in Gaza. The Red Cross estimated that at least 118 people were killed and more than 550 wounded during the fighting in the week up to June 15.
15. Hamas members use Palestinian children as human shields when carrying out attacks on Israeli soldiers.

  1. On April 16, 2001, Hamas launched its first rocket into Israel from Gaza.
17. Since the beginning of 2012, over 1,800 rocket hits have been identified in Israeli territory.
  1. Hamas deliberately targets Israeli civilians, firing rockets indiscriminately while hiding among its own civilian population – a “double war crime.”
  1. Hamas is a Sunni group while it’s primary patron over the years has been the Shi’ite Iran.
  1. Iran aids and supports Hamas in the following ways: by transferring enormous sums of money to the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip and to the Hamas movement; by training Hamas operatives in military skills in Iran; by smuggling arms into the Gaza Strip, including the long-range rockets recently used to attack Israeli cities; by transmitting technical-operational know-how used to manufacture and improve the weapons in Hamas’s possession, including increasing the destructive power of the IEDs and homemade rockets used to attack Israel.
  1. Hamas’s annual budget was estimated to be some $70 million according to the Council of Foreign Relations.
  1. Hamas routinely misinforms its followers. This week, Khaled Meshal falsely claimed to the Palestinian public that Hamas had destroyed Ehud Barak’s home in Tel Aviv. In reality, Israel destroyed the home of Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh.
23. Although Hamas has complained of product shortages in the Gaza Strip, it has focused on smuggling thousands of rockets into the area.
  1. Hamas and Fatah have been holding reconciliation talks intermittently since 2008, but have yet to reach a sustainable agreement.
**25. “Palestine from the river to the sea, north to south is our land. Not an inch can be conceded. The liberation of Palestine, all of Palestine is a duty, a right and a goal. Holy war and armed resistance are the real and right path to liberation and recovery of rights.” –**Khaled Meshal speaking at this week’s Hamas 25 anniversary “celebrations.”
Hamas is not interested in peace or compromise with Israel – the facts speak for themselves.

Hamas vs the Israeli Defense Force, one of those matchups where it’s too bad both sides can’t lose.
