From here (order of quotes mine):
An explosion killed 10 people, 9 of them children, at a park at Shati refugee camp, in northern Gaza Strip. Israeli and Palestinian authorities traded blame over the attack…

…“We don’t want an agreement. We don’t want a cease-fire. All of us, children, women, will give our souls for God!”…

…In a text message, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the killings would be avenged.

“The massacre against the children in Shati refugee camp is a war crime,” Zuhri said. “Such a crime is a result of the silence of the international community. This crime will not break our will, and the occupation will pay the price.”…

…Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, an Israeli army spokesman, denied Israel was involved. “This incident was carried out by Gaza terrorists whose rockets fell short,” he said.

Early Tuesday, the military released **aerial photographs that it said showed the paths of two misfired rockets that hit the Shifa Hospital and the park. **It said the paths were detected by Israeli military radar and sensors.

Lerner said that since the start of the fighting, Israel has identified about 200 failed rocket launches that struck within the Gaza Strip.

From here, at very end of article:
Foreign journalists in the Gaza Strip have restricted their reporting to Israeli military operations. Amid fear of Hamas interrogations, the journalists have ignored Hamas rocket and other attacks in the Gaza Strip, including one that killed nine children at the Palestinian refugee camp of Shati on July 28.

“Out of Gaza far from Hamas retaliation: misfired rocket killed children [yesterday] in Shati,” Italian journalist Gabriele Barbati said in a Tweet on July 29. “Witness: militants rushed and cleared debris.”

Note that this journalist’s Tweet says that Gazan militants rushed in a cleared up afterwards, which means they knew immediately what happened and yet *still *blamed Israel for the deaths.

Additionally, as reported by CSM, “[c]amera crews were prevented from filming the area of impact at Shifa.”

A recent (and extensive) update from The Guardian

“Israeli air strike on Gaza hits third UN school in 10 days” (Title)

"At least seven people have been killed and dozens more wounded after a projectile struck a street outside a school in the city of Rafah, in the south of Gaza.

The school was sheltering more than 3,000 people displaced by fighting in the area. It has been the scene of heavy bombardment by the Israeli military and fierce clashes following the suspected capture by Hamas fighters of an Israeli soldier, later declared killed in action.

At the time of the strike – about 10.50am – dozens of children and adults were clustered around its gates buying biscuits and sweets from stalls set up by locals.

The missile struck the ground eight to 10 metres from the open gates. Witnesses at the scene less than an hour after the explosion claimed it had been fired from one of the many unmanned Israeli drones in the air above Rafah.

United Nations officials in Gaza described a “shelling incident” or an air strike.

It was impossible to determine the exact provenance of the projectile, but it was the third time in 10 days that a UN school had been hit. Earlier this week, Israeli tank shells lstruck a school in the northern town of Jabaliya, killing 16 in an attack denounced by the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, as “reprehensible”.

In all, seven UN schools have been attacked during the conflict."

Could it be the children sleeping in UN safety facilities?
In other words the typical Hamas propaganda response. No regard what-so-ever about the Jews.

Hard to see the truth blinded by hate and racism and fueled by mob anger. It produces suicide bombers in fact.

Jewish hate and its sympathizers coming to a city near you in America in the name of equal rights for terrorists. 👍

The point I wish to raise is the fact that these people have huge demonstrations against Jews killing everyone, but what about the human slaughter that’s going on in other countries such as Syria , Iraq. , the kidnapping of a couple hundred school girls,
Why are they not demonstration about those, but instead focus fully on the demise of Israel ?
Yeah, I often wonder about that, too.
I think it might be because the Holy Land just seems like the center of the world in many ways, and so there are a lot of Western people who are very interested in what goes on there. That’s my best guess, anyway. But yeah, you’re right, there are wars and death and conflict all over the place.
:hmmm:

Why do people focus on Israeli “atrocities” and the conflict in the middeast and ignore things going on in other parts of the world? :hmmm:

The answer, partly, imo, is that focusing on these other slaughters going on in other countries does not allow people to criticize Israel/Jews: Why focus on the kidnapping of a hundred school girls for more than a few days when it doesn’t allow people the opportunity to dump on Israel? The answer is that its all about the Jews. So many in the world hate them for some reason - both on the right and left, but more on the left it seems. And certainly many Catholics do not like Jews at all - as evidenced on CAF recently.

In short, as was the publicicized case many years ago in iirc Iran, the people in charge in Moslem areas take action against journalists who report anything the people in charge don’t want publicized.

Notice the huge attention paid to the four children killed by the Israeli military, which has accepted responsibility, and the nine children killed by a Hamas rocket, which was initially blamed on the Israelis despite the fact that Hamas knew it was kne of their own misfired rockets.

Are only those killed by Israelis worth anything? Think about it…

From the non-Israel–supporting Washington Post:

GAZA CITY — It is not unusual for militants to launch rockets from sites near my hotel.

This is the hotel near where the four children were killed and at which the other children took shelter and were cared for. A hotel near which it “is not unusual for militants to launch rockets…”

I think there is truth to what you say, i.e., it seems the Jews, God’s “chosen people” will always be targeted for hate, led, of course, by the devil.

Is it me or is anyone else getting suspicious about U.N. schools being targeted?

Palestinians suffer enormously and continuously because of Israeli persecution, prejudice and the most virulent racism imaginable. In the thirties and forties Jews were violently oppressed by the Nazi regime; from the forties 'til now the Palestinian people have been violently oppressed by the Zionist regime. If people don’t have the eyes to see this, there is nothing I could say that would snap them out of it.

Another walled-in ghetto whose inhabitants were forced to dig tunnels in order to procure basic necessities required for living:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_Ghetto
A “zionist” regime that would not exist were it not for the horrifying racism/persecution inflicted on the Jews by the West, and elements of the Middle East, i.e., the Muslim Brotherhood long before Israel even became a state hated Jews so much so that they were willing to cooperate with NAZIS (as soldiers) in order to eliminate them (they even translated the Mein Kampf in Arab during the 30’s). Moreover, the Palestinian people are “oppressed” because it has always been the mission of the Muslim Brotherhood (which Hamas is an offshoot of) to destroy Israel (and Palestinians for the most part support this goal), as such, this continuation of anti-semitic sentiment/hatred towards the Jews is what is fueling this war and causing the sanctions, blockades . . etc. (Israel has always had to contend with enemies from within and without). They simply do NOT want Israel to exist.

ISRAEL – New details have emerged about the booby-trapped clinic explosion that killed three IDF Maglan unit soldiers in Gaza earlier this week – Sergeant First Class Matan Gottlieb, 21, from Rishon LeZion; Sergeant First Class Omar Chai, 21, from Savion; and Sergeant First Class Guy Algranati, 20, of Tel Aviv, hy”d.

Over eighty kilograms of explosives were built into the UN-funded hospital’s walls themselves, it was cleared for publication Thursday – revealing that the clinic itself was built to mask, and perform, potential acts of terror on the IDF.

Thousands of miles away, it might be convenient to criticize Israel for having the temerity to defend itself against these murderous terrorist attacks… Anyone tempted to suggest Israel has used a disproportionate amount of force to defend itself needs to remember the origins of this latest round of violence. It’s Hamas that continued to launch rockets, despite Israel’s willingness to discuss and abide by multiple cease-fires. It’s Hamas that uses Palestinians as human shields to protect its leaders and its arsenals, and to preserve its extensive system of tunnels. And it’s Hamas that would, if given the opportunity, take the life of every Israeli within range of its thousands of rockets. Rick Perry-Texas

UN Robert Serry stated Hamas ceasefire would have prevented strike near school and states Hamas broke the ceasefire. States Hamas needs to commit itself to a ceasefire to resume talks and stop its rocket fire. Serry-today-CNN

This sounds doubtful, and none of the links identify what is the basis for the claim. They simply mention an unidentified report from some unknown author. This has the whiff of wartime rumor.

Ton of links and the source would have to be chased which goes to the 31st, probably other side of the propaganda. The UN issue is a result of the tunnel philosophy. The tunnels run high and low, and Israel ground movements are known by leaflets dropped etc. So the tunnels high ground, running parallel to the sights of Israel movements would be used to stage attacks. Looks like the usual tunnel game to me. Israel may be missing now and again, but I don’t think imho thats whats happening. Certainly our government is much more aware of this than being suggested which is why the tunnels are out. Those are not even on the table of talk but in the minds of the lost. The problem is we don’t factually know how much Israel is involved on its end, hard to hit by p(name removed by moderator)oint a problem area within 50-meters.

Difficult to know that Israel is the cause as indicated above.

The humanitarian cause is what the news is by large reporting as indicated above which coincides with the terrorist agenda, its depended on. They know this and the compassion is strained as we see by the angry protests against Israel.

Hi Graciew, I want to say the answer is “yes,” but I’m not entirely positive I understand the question. I definitely think that common ground can only be found by first jettisoning both the completely absurd Israeli war propaganda, which is the official narrative of Western media, along with the equally absurd belief that Hamas are innocent angels. I think that as Catholics we should be able to cut through all the lies we’re being spoon fed and just generally hang on tight to our decency, lest we get caught up and carried away in all the pro-bloodshed/no mercy hyperbole.
I had to look up the word " jettisonining" and I failed to find it,but I think I understand what it means.

I can hear compassion and decency, and the desire for this conflict to end, together with prayer.
To some extent it feels like we are good-willed firefighters running around with no water trying to put out a fire on a huge building full of innocent people. It feels powerless and we know this,as I see it.

What I believe you mean by pro blood shed,no mercy seems to be your desire for us all to see where the emergency is and react consequently… I may be wrong.

As for a short cut,or the way for Catholics to cut through media and lies as you say, would it be fair/ reasonable to say that there is our Church and what it is saying through its Pope, and in line with him Caritas International, etc?
Is this in line with your thoughts,Exiled Child?

Thank you.

Hmmm… the reporter is saying her words were mistranslated. According the The Blaze, she says that the rocket was fired “somewhere behind the hospital.” However, a blog called “Legal Insurrection” translated her words as “in the backyard of the hospital.”

If someone can speak Finnish, and can review the actual broadcast, I would appreciate reading their understanding. Otherwise, we are left with the choice of either believing the reporter as to what she said, or believing the blog named “Legal Insurrection.”

I don’t know, I’d love to tell you who’s responsible for the incident, but, I could only imagine why these UN sights have become a focal point. For sure it casts doubt on the idea Israel intentionally or by accident targeted the sight. I would say the sights are intentionally used by Hamas, military and propaganda. The different perception is to me completely understandable from whats being shown, it favors Hamas. People perceive this very differently as we see. I can’t imagine how far Israel is going, or how much is actually completed.

From the article:
A translation of the Finnish report obtained by the blog Legal Insurrection read, “Also, a rocket attack was conducted from the ‘backyard’ of the hospital at 2 o’clock in the morning. It (the rocket launch), **in fact, happened somewhere close by because the noise right here at the hospital area was really loud. **Indeed, these rockets launched here from the Gazan side (of the border) are headed into Israel.”
It seems like whether it was in the backyard or simply behind the hospital, t was very close to the hospital to have caused such a loud sound.

Following the posting of her report on pro-Israel blogs, Zidan took to Facebook this weekend, writing, “Don’t use me as your propaganda weapon.”
Ms Aisha Zidan is upset that her truthful reporting is now being used to show the truth of Israeli claims that the reason some of their rockets hit schools and hospitals is that Hamas uses the schools and hospital to fire from.

By “jettisoning” I just meant that the Israeli narrative should be completely ignored, and the Hamas narrative should also be completely ignored. Jettison as in, throw it overboard and get all of the lies completely out of our heads.

Something tells me you would probably enjoy this video. It’s a 60 Minutes show on Palestinian Christians. I personally found it eye opening. It’s from 2010, but it’s still relevant to the current military attacks against the Palestinian populace:
