The Bible says:

However, Paul says in Romans 7:6 that the law is dead.

Christians are therefore inadvertently paying homage to Paul every time that they eat pork or blood since Jesus (pbuh) himself NEVER consumed pork or blood and neither did he permit any of his followers to do so.

In other words, Christians willingly follow the teachings of Paul and other Church leaders, NOT the teachings of Jesus (pbuh).
But now we are loosed from the law of death, wherein we were detained; so that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
[Romans 7:6, Douay-Rheims Bible]

But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
[Romans 7:6, NIV]

But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.
[Romans 7:6, NLT]

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
[Romans 7:6, English Standard]

But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that wherein we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.
[Romans 7:6, American Standard Version]

So where does Paul say the law is dead?

Peace and joy to all! 🙂

The Bible says:

He further says in Galatians 3:13 that the law is a curse.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written: Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.
[Galatians 3:13, Douay-Rheims]

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
[Galatians 3:13, NIV]

But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
[Galatians 3:13, NLT]

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"
[Galatians 3:13, English Standard]

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
[Galatians 3:13, American Standard Edition]

So where does Paul say the law is a curse? The reference is that we are cursed under the law. What Paul is saying here is that Christ suffered in place of us; this is clear in the phrase “Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree,” for Christ did indeed hang on a tree made into a cross and He died for our sins, thus releasing us from the curse of the law.

If you take this passage out of context, in the English Standard version, the American Standard Edition, or the Douay-Rheims Edition (as quoted above), you could say Christ is a curse!

Peace and joy to all who search for Truth! 🙂

The Bible says:

In Galatians 3:10 he claims that those who labor under the law of God are under a curse.

Christians are therefore inadvertently paying homage to Paul every time that they eat pork or blood since Jesus (pbuh) himself NEVER consumed pork or blood and neither did he permit any of his followers to do so.

In other words, Christians willingly follow the teachings of Paul and other
Church leaders, NOT the teachings of Jesus (pbuh).
For as many as are of the works of the law, are under a curse. For it is written: Cursed is every one, that abideth not in all things, which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[Galatians 3:10, Douay-Rheims]

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”
[Galatians 3:10, NIV]

But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”
[Galatians 3:10, NLT]

For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”
[Galatians 3:10, English Standard]

For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.
[Galatians 3:10, American Standard Edition]

For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not persevere in doing all the things written in the book of the law.”
[Galatians 3:10, New American Bible]

The “curse” is the impossibility for any human being to obey absolutely every tiny little law. Anyone who tries to do so will fail. They are indeed cursed, but there is a way out and that is through faith in Christ. This is confirmed in the passage immediately preceding Galatians 3:10:

Therefore they that are of faith, shall be blessed with faithful Abraham;

and the passage immediately following Galatians 3:10:

But that in the law no man is justified with God, it is manifest: because the just man liveth by faith.

[both passages are from Douay-Rheims]

Let’s put the three passages together:

Therefore they that are of faith, shall be blessed with faithful Abraham; for as many as are of the works of the law, are under a curse. For it is written: Cursed is every one, that abideth not in all things, which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that in the law no man is justified with God, it is manifest: because the just man liveth by faith.
[Galatians 3:9-11, Douay-Rheims]

We are not justified by the law, but by faith in Christ who delivered Himself up for our sins. Those who have faith are blessed, as Abraham was blessed. It is our faith in Christ that saves us, not an impossible task of always following absolutely every law. If that were the case, all of us would be damned to hell. And that is a curse.

This letter from Paul to the Galatians starts off this way:

O stupid Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? I want to learn only this from you: did you receive the Spirit from works of the law, or from faith in what you heard?
[Galatians 3:1-2, New American Bible]

Again, this establishes that no one is justified by the law, but by faith. You have (again) taken one passage out of context. Why do you keep doing that?

God’s peace to everyone! 🙂

LS, you have quoted paul sufficiently and it proves that PaUL took christians on a wrong track. That was not any mission of Jesus. If the catholics cannot see the differing teachings of paul then we Muslims have nothing more to say to them. They can have their Paul. But please do not push paul on the muslims. We do not recognise Paul or his words.

The bible has more of pauls words than those of Jesus. Why? And hambah has clealy proved from the bible that the teachings of Paul are not in line with those of Jesus. Jesus came to fulfil the law, i…e to complete its implementation. He had not come to do away with the law. Hamba has shown all that from the bible that Paul had taken a U turn in the many matters.

Yet the Catholics cannot see. Jharek C and others have tried to ridicule hamba without touching any of the verses that hamba had posted. LS has tried to explain something but it was just like explaining the Trinity which cannot be explained.

We have seen clearly that the Catholics have been hoodwinked by paul’s teachings. If they are happy and they can reconcile Paul with Jesus, we do not care. We leave it all to the christians to go on the way of Paul instead of Jesus. We will never do that and I believe any sensible christian should not do that.

That vision business of Paul on way to damascus was a fake story cooked up to accommodate paul into the church and make him the greatest disciple of Jesus. How come? It was enough for Paul to return to jesus in good faith and repent rather than misleading the whole christian nation by his flawed beliefs which are clearly anti-christ.

I again give full support to hamba for his post with proper references which no christian has power to reply. Instead they are trying to play down hamba by idle words and jokes.

If I write what I feel is right then it is said that I am ignorant Liar and I am abusing some one. Not at all. I am telling what is very clear from the bible. If the Catholics do not see that then we do not press them any more. They should not bring Paul before us in future. Otherwise they will hear what is being told them now. We Muslims are for Jesus, not for Paul. Please understand.

This topic has rightly been converted to Paul Vs Jesus. Keep it going on that line.

L S is trying hard to explain away Paul. It is impossible. Because Jesus never said that Law was a curse. Then nobody had the right to make such a bold statement against the law. Nobody had the right to abondon the law as a curse. By that false teaching, paul has abused the lw given by God (yahweh). Paul has made the christians into a lawless people. they are now like a boat without any sails or like a boat without a rudder.

Paul has made the christians lawless, helpless. Do not worry. Most of the educated intelligent people of the world understand the bad works of Paul. The Christians have a hard time taking Paul along with Jesus. They can have one, not both of them. Have Jesus or Paul.

HE DIDN’T SAY THE LAW WAS A CURSE! DON’T YOU EVER READ WHAT I POST? CAN YOU?

Paul is a saint, in heaven, IN GOD. Paul’s words are in the Bible. THEY ARE THE WORD OF GOD. Christians don’t have a hard time taking Paul! Where do you guys get these absolutely bizarre ideas? WE TAKE JESUS AND PAUL. JESUS IS GOD. PAUL IS A DISCIPLE OF JESUS.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT LAWLESS. WE FOLLOW THE COMMANDMENTS GIVEN TO MOSES AND THE TWO GREAT COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS.

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT HELPLESS. What do you even mean by such a statement? Why would we be helpless?

Oh, thank you for your kindness in giving us the choice of either Jesus or Paul. Do you really mean we can only choose one? What happens if we choose both? What are you going to do about it? Hmmmmm?

L S, I read. In your post #450, you have not replied properly to the post #439 of hamba. You have simply quoted Romans 7:6. That is just one sentence. You have not replied to the objections. We know that Paul called the law as a curse, in whatever way. He said that Jesus had redeemed the christians from the curse of the law by giving his life. Paul had no right to make such a bold declaration.
After all some one has told you that the law of Moses does not apply to you. That is why you people eat pork and you are against divorce and against remarriage and so many other things.

Who has released you from practicing the law of Moses? It was Paul, the enemy of Jesus. Or you can tell me some other name please. Who has advised you not to act on the law of Moses??

Now you say that paul is a saint. make him a god too. We do not care and we will not discuss Paul with you again. It is our final info for you that Paul is not in our books except as an enemy of Jesus. You may honor or worship Paul, if you like. He is all over your bible. He played down Mary too. Paul never said a word of praise for Mary. He was a false person. That is why he was beheaded. That was according to Deut 18:20 which says that a false prophet will be killed.

Why don’t you read verses of the bibleOT??/ I suggest that you please take up all the points raised by hamba in post #439, one by one and explain things properly. The others are passing away the questions as some jokes.

In other words, Christians willingly follow the teachings of Paul and other Church leaders, NOT the teachings of Jesus (pbuh).
Surely because the late Ahmad Deedat said so but he had been rebutted many times and even prominent Muslim scholars do not agree with him.

Deedat claims that modern Christianity is the product of Paul and not Jesus, and that any division between Christians and Muslims is because of Paul. However, Deedat’s rejection of Paul is not warranted for two reasons.
**
  1. Early Islamic authorities accept Paul.**
  • The Qur’an and Hadith never speak against Paul, and Islamic scholars accept that he was truly sent by Jesus.
Ibn Ishaq accepted Paul.
Those whom Jesus son of Mary sent, both disciples and those who came after them, in the land were: Peter the disciple and Paul with him … (Ibn Ishaq, Sirat Rasul Allah, p. 653)

Al-Tabari accepted Paul.
Among the apostles, and the followers who came after them were the Apostle Peter and Paul who was a follower and not an apostle; they went to Rome. (Al-Tabari, The History of al-Tabari, vol. iv, p. 123)

When referring to Qur’an 36:14,** Ibn Kathir** quotes early Muslims who had no problem in viewing Paul as an apostle/messenger.
(so We reinforced them with a third,) means, “We supported and strengthened them with a third Messenger.” Ibn Jurayj narrated from Wahb bin Sulayman, from Shuayb Al-Jaba'i, "The names of the first two Messengers were Shamun and Yuhanna, and the name of the third was Bulus (Paul), and the city was Antioch (Antakiyah)." (Ibn Kathir, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, vol. 8, p. 179)
**
And Ibn Kathir is never critical of Paul**. Therefore, Deedat’s rejection of Paul is at odds with major early Islamic scholars.

2. Paul agrees with the earlier prophets.
Jesus came to fulfil and confirm the teaching of the prophets who were before him.

**Do not think that I (Jesus) have come to abolish the Law (of Moses) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. (Matthew 5:17, NIV)
**

This means that anyone who is sent by Jesus must teach what is consistent with the Law and the prophets. Paul says that he was sent by Jesus (Galatians 1:1). If this is true then the gospel he taught must agree with the Law and the Prophets. There are seven key areas in which Paul agrees with the earlier prophets. …

“And falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ And he said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.’” - Acts 9:4-5 (Written by St. Luke, describing how Jesus appeared to Saul, later called Paul)

“But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he [Paul] had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus” - Acts 9:26-27 (describing how Paul met the Apostles in Jerusalem)

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you…” - 1 Corinthians 11:23 (a letter from Paul)

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas [another name for Peter], then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared to me.” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-8

“For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.” - Galatians 1:11-12 (Another letter from Paul)

"And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. - 2 Peter 3:15-16 (Paul’s writing declared to be Scripture)

In other words, Paul didn’t make his ideas up. Nor was anyone deceived by them. The Holy Spirit did not allow false teachers to rule or deceive the Church during the time of the Apostles, for they were too filled with the Spirit to believe false teaching. On the contrary, the Church, when the Apostles were with it, was as godly and pure as could be. They saw the radical change that took place in St. Paul’s life, and they recognized what the Lord had done for him. (emphasis mine) He did not teach anything of his own making; he taught whatever Jesus wanted him to teach, through the guidance of the Spirit. The Church recognized these things and blessed his ministry. Paul was highly educated, brilliant, and a great writer; this is certainly why God chose him to be a major contributor to the New Testament.
“They saw the radical change that took place in St. Paul’s life, and they recognized what the Lord had done for him”.

Radical changes in someone’s life is NOT an indicator of receiving divine revelation from the Almighty.

Islam too has individuals who underwent radical changes in their personalities, the second Caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) is one such example of someone who did many wrong things before coming into Islam and subsequently became truly virtuous as a result of his reversion to Islam.

In a hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) once said that if there were to be any prophet who would come after himself, then it would be Umar… but of course Umar never claimed to be a prophet or even to receiving divine revelations from Allah, even though the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself had spoken so highly of him.

And so, let us say for the sake of argument that even if it is true that Paul underwent a radical change in his personality, this does not at all prove that he received divine revelation from the Almighty.

And on the next day, whilst they were going on their journey and drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up to the higher parts of the house to pray, about the sixth hour. And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind.

And he saw the heaven opened and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great linen sheet let down by the four corners from heaven to the earth: Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts and creeping things of the earth and fowls of the air.

And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter. Kill and eat.

But Peter said: Far be it from me. For I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean.

And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common.

And this was done thrice. And presently the vessel was taken up into heaven.

[Acts 10:9-16, Douay-Rheims Bible]

How do you explain this?

Peace to all who seek to discover Truth! 🙂
Why should Christians be concentrating on what Peter may have said in the Bible on the subject of swine?

Let us instead focus on what Jesus (pbuh) himself has said on the subject according to the Bible.

Jesus (pbuh) considered pigs such filthy and disgusting animals that not only did he never taste their flesh, but he literally considered them so lowly that they were only fit as garbage dumps for devils. In Matthew 8:31-32, we read:

"So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters…"

Well then, since Jesus (pbuh) has stated his position on the subject of swine so clearly in the Bible, why on earth are Christians so insistent on consuming pork?

Swine was the most disguste danimal for Jesus. He mentioned it in different ways. He never went near the swine himself. Not did his disciples. The present day christiuans are far away from the real Jesus followers. They are just using the name of jesus but try to follow the teachings of other worldly people, Peter and paul.

God hath not cleaned the swine.

Paul did away with the law against the wishes of jesus. The supposed (made up) conversion of Paul was the most drastic damage to christianity. He disowned the law that was followed by Moses and all Jews and all friends of Jesus. They abondoned nearly everything that was owned and practiced by Jesus.

“…it proves that PaUL took christians on a wrong track.”

It is Islam that took Christ’s teaching and sacrifice down the wrong track. Was Christ crucified and rise from the dead?

🤷

That’s what I thought. Paul and all the first disciples witnessed and/or testified to that. Something a muslim doesn’t do. So please spare us the lecture on Paul. Please come up with a reasonable explanation of “they killed him not” and produce the “injeel”. Then we’ll talk.

“But please do not push paul on the muslims.”

No one is pushing anything on you. Orthodox christianity and the Apostles recognize the authority of Paul. Please do not push Mohammad’s view of Christ on us. And while you’re at it, you and hamba should drop the “Christ NEVER…” act. Your beliefs about Christ come from a guy who lived some 600 years after Our Lord and Saviour.

“The bible has more of pauls words than those of Jesus. Why?”

There are plenty of Christ’s words in scripture. The church was in it’s absolute infancy during Christ’s life. Even the Apostles didn’t understand everything at first (and largely until Pentacost when they received the Holy Spirit as promised by Christ).

The Koran has more about Mohammad than Christ. Waves off the crucial element in the Christian faith (the death and resurrection of Lord Jesus) with a “they killed him not.”
Why? 😊

"And hambah has clealy proved from the bible that the teachings of Paul are not in line with those of Jesus. "

Uh, no he did not.

Therefore, Jesus, Paul, Barnabas, the Christians whom Paul persecuted (but who later forgave him), the Early Church, Paul’s enemies in Palestine, his enemies in Greece and Asia Minor, his enemies in Rome, and all Christians of all time are wrong about Paul, but you are right.

You’ve gotta be kidding me.

Yes, hamba’s reply is idiotic nonsense. But that is the best he has.

Pigs “…were only fit as garbage dumps for devils.”

For someone who places so much importance on what Jesus said, hamba, you’re making the typical muslim jump to a huge conclusion. “Jesus NEVER said” pigs were only fit for garbage dumps for devils.

Oh, no no no no no…let us focus on what Peter said. You know Peter, don’t you? He is one of the Apostles - one of those men who actually spent that oh-so-precious time with Jesus on earth before Jesus ascended into heaven.

Please respond to what I posted. Attempting to change the subject is a sure indication that you can’t explain this one away.

Hamba studies from the islamic school of Deedat… that’s all he knows, that’s all he posts…

He still has not answered my question as to why the muslims follow the Jewish dietary law of Leviticus of not eating pork, but Leviticuts also states that camel/hare & lizard is forbidden

**Muslims eat camel/hare & lizard… **

I still have not received an answer.

Could it because the islamic school of Deedat dodged that inquiry…???

Actually, as you can see, he tried to change the subject.

I declare checkmate! 🙂
I “touche’d” him with my little soldier sword of truth. Thank you, God! 🙂

LS: he can’t explain it because it’s not in his research from the islamic teachings of Deedat… Do you actually think that Hamba comes up with all of this on his own?

Heck no… he uses Deedat database & answeringchristianity.com

That is where hamba gets all of this info.

Hey, some time, go to answeringchristianity.com… Little Soldier… it will make your eyeballs pop out of your skull. This is the website the majority of the muslims use against Christianity.

I think Hamba2han is just trying to tell us not to eat pork guys. Perhaps he was trying to say that eating pork will not get us to heaven. So, let’s give Hamba2han assurance that our Jewish brothers, still do not eat pork because they are still bound by the law. Anyhow, I want to say one thing to Hamba2han, Please do not get jealous with us, pork barbecue is one good dish you gonna miss.
