They were in some way contributing to it. Hitler was a mad man. His lunacy made him act differently than you and I.

There were millions of Jews in Germany. They did not assimilate. In a nutshell this threatened crackpot like Hitler. The rest was history.

Sure I sympathized with the Jews. But if you were living in a land of others, you have to assimilate; at least be less threatening and be pleasant, so to speak. The post I was commenting earlier on mentioned how the Jews were very exclusive. (My paraphrase). You go and figure.

Your wrong. The Jews assimulated very well with society. There were Jewish scientists, docters, teachers, musical composers, etc., etc. Do you know that Hitler put out a list of Jewish composers that Germans were not allowed to listen to anymore? Did you catch that? Anymore?! Germans enjoyed the music of Jewish composers living in Germany and abroad. There were even some non-Jew composers who wanted also to be on that list of composers to avoid, because of how ridiculous the order from Hitler was.

And in addition to speaking Hebrew, the Jews also spoke the language of the land.

How is that not assimulating?

My point was - the Messiah Jesus was a Jew. He was rejected by his own people. But see the multitude of others who follow him. What’s wrong with the Jews? If they can kill their own prophets who were sent by their God to them, what does that tells you about their characteristic. I mean how loveable they were? Then you have a lunatic came along like Hitler. The situation was ripe for the taking.

The one positive thing I can say about this thread is that I’ve been posting on this board for quite some time now, and I’ve never seen the blatant hatred and disdain for Jews that I’ve seen on this thread. The stupidity and ignorance (two key ingredients in anti-semetism) that has been displayed in some of these posts is a very rare occurence on these boards, B’H.

I was told today by a former jewish person that the catholic church has persecuted and killed jews for centuries. And that catholics hate jews. My immediate response was this isn’t true, and asked her to back this up. She hasn’t replied yet. I’ve never heard of such things or such an accusation. The history of the persecution of Jews is actually pretty complicated. There’s no denying that Catholics did kill Jews at various different times in history, but it’s less clear whether or not they were doing it on the orders of the church itself. I took a class on the Crusades in college, and a class on the Middle Ages itself, and there seemed to be a number of religious leaders who instructed the people in the Crusades not to harm the Jews, and who lamented that people were forcibly baptized, since this was contrary to the will of God. In our primary source documents, there were a number of speeches and written accounts of events where Catholic leaders, including St. Bernard of Clairvoux, who would forbid the killing of Jews or any coerced baptisms of the Jews. One of the popes condemned a religious order during the Black Death for stirring up anti-antisemitism and leading to riots and attacks of Jewish neighborhoods.

As for the Catholics hate Jews remark, that’s like saying that Americans hate Black people. Sure, some Americans hate black people, and America has a history of injustice towards black people, no black people would deny this. However, it’s also an oversimplification to say that “All Americans hate black people.”

So, there’s some grain of truth in what he said, but as others have pointed out, it’s a vast oversimplification, of a complicated history.

Very unfortunately, but I agree with you there. When they are small in number, they cry being victimized but when they are the majority, none will be able to live with them.

They have themselves to be blamed that they are such hated race in history. **And please, I don’t agree with Hitler. No not at all. Nothing can exonerate his action. But they did not help things either and gave reasons for his demented mind to do the things he did to them.

They should learn from history and of course the best step would be for them to accept the Messiah for he has come.**

I have been in this forum for quite a while. A lots of things said is here is about religion. I am a Catholic. I discuss from this point of view.

You being suspicious show your character. There is no trust there and you jump into conclusion. Maybe you should call the name of Jesus a few times first before calling your fellow Christian a racist. The simplest way to win an argument is to maligne your opponent, and ain’t you’re doing that?
