Is the following statement by the Lord Jesus 100% true?

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Yes, it is true. Jesus wasn’t in the habit of telling lies.

Because you dont seem to be Catholic and you are asking a deliberate “easy” question.

If it’s such an easy ? why it is that many people believe that people of different faiths can find their own way to God?

Other people will know more than me about this but for starters:
  • People are raised under different faiths by their parents
  • Life experiences can affect their perceptions of God
  • Someone might have had a bad experience by another person or group of people in the church that they were in, and changed their mind about the faith
  • Some people have or get mentally ill
  • Some people are tricked/coerced by those of other religions
  • Some people have never read the bible or read it enough or read it properly
  • Some people dont understand the teachings of the Church
*Some people are too “busy” to learn or practice their faith

That’s an interesting list, so the ? isn’t easy. Also it’s true that there people who do know the teachings of the bible but they would say that people can find their own way to God. Can people who say this be true followers of the Lord Jesus?

So it’s clear that the Lord Jesus’ statement in John 14:6 is 100% true. Therefore it’s also 100% true that anyone who is trying to get to God by any other means/way other than by the Lord Jesus is going to hell.

So should ALL people who believe that the Lord Jesus is the only way to God be seeking to tell ALL other people the truth? I mean if a true follower of the Lord Jesus meets people of the Islamic faith should they be telling them that the Lord Jesus is the ONLY way to God, surely this is speaking the truth in love.

This means you should be asking everyone you meet what their faith is and converting them if not compatible to yours?

Yeah go to Saudi arabia and try that one- you’ll soon find yourself dead. I can’t and won’t judge a persons soul and I would never tell anyone they are going to Hell. that’s for God to do- and we can only interpret God’s word through finite minds.I don’t and you don’t know what anyone’s soul is like- what God Sees that we don’t see-God sees the heart. To think that God is as small minded and mundane as we are is silly in my humble opinion- not everyone who says ‘Lord,Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. To restrict God to one way of thinking or another is to take His omnipotence and omniscience away- you limit God- should he be limited ? or is God more more unlimited than our minds can possibly understand? Me , I prefer the unlimited unrestrained God-who doesn’t think like humans.

To me this is a strange question in the context of people’s eternal destiny. I mean if anyone has God’s love for people then they will tell people the truth that the Lord Jesus is the ONLY way to God. However if a person who knows this truth and doesn’t tell it to other people , then surely they don’t truly love people or care that people are going to hell forever.

ALL people need to know that the Lord Jesus is the ONLY way to God and yes some people might be offended to hear this truth but it must be told. As for whether people will believe this truth, well they will be responsible for this but it is the responsibility of those who KNOW the truth to TELL people.

Maybe some people who believe that the Lord Jesus is the only way to God are more interested in trying to make FALSE peace with people who don’t believe the Lord Jesus is the only way to God so they don’t tell them this truth. Are they more interested in making false peace than seeing people come to faith in the Lord Jesus and not going to hell!

Hi Asa,
I think it’s true. I also believe that some people who never heard of Jesus will also be able to go to the Father and to heaven, through Jesus. Like Abraham, for example.
I think if people have already heard of Jesus, then I won’t try to tell them about Jesus again unless they ask.

You are putting a limit God. It doesn’t say anything about going to Hell. I trust God in His infinite justice, love and mercy to deal with each individual and their salvation fairly.
I also believe that when God asks me to share my faith that I should do that “using words if necessary”. So far He hasn’t asked me to preach on street corners or in Saudi Arabia - thank you Lord! But only He knows where each person is on their faith journey and can lead them…using us as vessels when apporpriate.
Sometimes the only thing we can do is pray for them!

The Lord Jesus said the following words not me;

This is serious if you have any love for people you will them this TRUTH. Tell your family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues etc. If God leads you to another country to tell people then GO!

Don’t play false peace games with people of other religions, tell them the TRUTH that the Lord Jesus is the only way to God. That’s if you truly love these other people, hell is a real place!

Who are you to decide who goes to heaven and who goes to hell? Can you read the hearts and minds of others? How do you know that Jesus isn’t leading them in ways you do not understand, that are beyond your comprehension? No one can say with any certainty who is going to hell. That is for God alone to decide - not for you.

Telling people they will go to hell if they do not believe in Jesus exactly as you portray Him is what turned me off Christianity for so many years. Thank God, Jesus never gave up on me and led me to His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I do however still have some small lingering resentment for the “You are going to hell.” preaching that kept me away from God and His Church. I had to be broken and in the lowest pit of despair to get past the judgementalism and see the Love of God that calls us all to Himself. All those years, I lived without Him because someone like you told me I was going to hell because I did not believe in Jesus the way that person defined Him. There are better ways of preaching that do not involve taking God’s perogative on yourself and condemning people to hell based on your own judgement. You do more harm than you know.

Luke 6.37-
“Do not judge, you will not be judged, do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.”

Rom 2 .1
“Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others, for in passing judgement on another you condemn yourself.”

Do you practise what you preach?

People do not lead other people to God.

Jesus did say “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jhn 14:6)

But he also Said: “And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.” (Jhn 6:65)

Therefore, while Christians are supposed to preached the truth in love, we are not supposed to do it apart from God’s guidance and timing.

I would not run ahead of God for fear I may literally lose my head. But if God were prompting me I would have no problem witnessing to a Muslin.

I’ve already done it with good response! 🙂

But that’s NOT what we are saying. That’s what you are saying.
You’re setting up a false dichotomy!!
Yes, Jesus is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. Yes, it is true, that “no man comes to the Father but through [Him]”.

What is NOT true, is to suggest that you (or I, or any body else here), has the right to tell Jesus Christ the Son,the Father almighty, and the Holy Spirit, just exactly how They are carrying out what Christ stated in this passage.
My grandfather was fond of saying, that he was glad that God had not elected him Dean of Admissions to Heaven, because he knew that he’d be sure to make a terrible mess of it…
Granpa Mark was, you see, a humble man, as well as a holy one. He spent his time praying, and let God** deal with such questions…I recommend that we **all **go and do likewise.👍
