I answer because I care about them, as I do all the lost souls in this world who don’t have a clue about the reality of Christ’s love for us all. But I have to admit it is hard to know where to begin when talking to someone who does not even believe they have a soul !Just out of curiousity—why do you answer the door when you know it’s JWs trying to recruit? Personally, I’ll let them ring the doorbell and stand their for 15 minutes and completely ignore the fact that they’re there (they arrive like clockwork on Saturday mornings, and you can see them walking around the neighborhood well before they reach our door so you know who, what, and why). No interest in listening to their cult-like nonsense.

I am surrounded by JWs. They live on either side of me. One of them continually sends out “missionaries” in our neighborhood, those of whom I refuse to speak.
JWs do not believe in the Trinity. They believe Jesus died on a stake not a cross. They believe the angel is God’s FIRST son and Jesus His SECOND son. I did research on the internet on JW because of my neighbors. I wanted to know where they were coming from. My neighbor also tried to discuss the bible with me by giving my children a “Children’s Bible”. In it was a story about “The Giants”. I said something about David and Goliath. She said “No, that’s about the angels that wanted to come to earth to marry all the pretty women and their children were Giants and very evil.” WHERE IS THAT IN THE BIBLE? To me this is TOTALLY made up, man made, and false. I cannot in good conscience call JW “christian!”

I find it spiritually exhausting. It grieves me that they deny the Crucifixion, the Cross, and the Divinity of Christ, and they sail past it as if it means nothing. They even try to teach that Jesus and St. Michael the Archangel are the same people because they are mentioned in the same passage.

There was a JW senior citizen who was trying to “evangelize” me when we were waiting at the airport. He, together with his wife, were a Filipino-Australians vacationing in the Philippines and to visit their Watchtower organization. We were about to board the plane at that time. He gave me tract and a copy of their yellow book “What Does the Bible Really Teach?” When he handed me the tract, I immendiately recognized that it was JW material and asked him if he were. He said yes. He even mistook me for a Catholic priest because I was wearing a crucifix at that time with my white barong (A Filipino formal business wear). I told him that no, I am not a priest but a lawyer and that I had just finished appearing for a labor case in that city. I also told him that I am not Roman Catholic but an Evangelical Christian. He then asked me if I knew about the main theme of the Bible. I said, “I would like to think that I do.”
Too bad we didn’t get to sit together in the plane for I would have welcomed the opportunity to dialogue with him. After landing in Manila (We came from Davao City), we again said hi to each other and exchanged the usual pleasantries. I also shared to him that I teach a Bible study group in our church. I then tried handing him a copy of our One-to-one booklet which we use in personal discipleship and follow-up. To my great surprise, he suddenly recoiled and said that he is sorry that he couldn’t accept it. He said that they had already studied our doctrines and he is already familiar with it. Of course their discussion of the same is definitely biased. I noticed that they refuse to even read the literature and doctrines of other faiths. In my case, and so with my other Evangelical friends, I am always open and very interested in reading other theologies. In fact, I have read their book and books on Catholicism by Catholics as well.
It’s just so sad that they are not even open to hearing and receiving the true Gospel of Christ…

I had an almost identical experience with a JW on a flight to Atlanta.
That was when I learned that they do not belive in the Trinity, the soul, or the divinity of Christ. Have to say, I was amazed, and as someone here said, spiritually exhausted !
I came away from that discussion with one thought: In light of the beauty that God has made available to us, and known to us, it is AMAZING how little these people have settled for !!!

JW’s are forbidden by their religion to pray with, share with, or read literature from other religions because it takes them away from waiting on the second coming. So no wonder he wouldn’t read your literature! I PERSONALLY believe JW’s are afraid to have their members pray with, share with, or read literature from other religions because then they will begin to question THEIR beliefs. JW’s are also not to attend college as nothing but evil occurs there. Excuse me?! Most major religions REQUIRE their clergy to attend college before they may be ordained!!! And only evil occurs at colleges? Again I say, I believe it will make JW’s question their own beliefs and they wouldn’t want that as people would finally realize how brainwashed they really are! The reason for them not celebrating ANY holiday is also so it won’t take them away from the second coming. Giving joy to your child with a BIRTHDAY party is taking away from waiting on the second coming of Christ? No I don’t believe so. I find that cruel!Hi there!

I dunno about the prohibition to go to college 'coz as a college professor, I did have some JW students. In fact I gently questioned their beliefs and they couldn’t sufficiently answer me. I pity them so much that they have been deprived of some of the good things in life due to their blind adherence to the teachings of their cult. They don’t even recognize that the Bible translation that their cult propagates is a heretic version meant to further their heretic doctrines. Oh, you forgot to mention that they and their kids would rather die than get blood tranfusion!

If you and other JW’s are so convinced you are right , you should have NO problem with this suggestion:
Suggest to your leaders that every adult JW should take a year “off” to study the theology of mainstream Christianity- Catholic & Protestant - for the purpose of better understanding their views on all these issues we seem to be debating. This should be done at a variety of Protestant & Catholic schools and colleges, so that they get the real, unadulterated scoop.
Then, the average JW will be better equipped to go out and evangelize others.
Please try this with your leadership and let us know their response.
Or, if YOU are the leadership, why not go for it.

. So much of their religion is filled with sadness. I cannot believe God wanted us to be sad all the time! Didn’t Jesus go to weddings and dinner at peoples houses and have fun? So much I don’t understand and never will. My heart breaks especially for their children. They are never made to feel special, singled out. So sad…
WOW! Glad to hear there are SOME JW’s willing to learn!!! I know all about not allowing a blood transfusion! As a nurse in a NICU, we would obtain court orders in order to transfuse JW’s premature babies because they are not able to produce there own red blood cells and must receive blood. I had one JW’s grandmother stand at the bedside and say that this child was “DAMNED” because the child received a blood transfusion! I stated (LOUDLY, I might add) “No, this child NOT damned! He is an innocent baby! How can you say that?!” She walked away from the bedside and I never saw her again.Hi there!
