When I was in India, a mouse would frequently get into the cafe of the campus we were at. One time, he just ran into the middle of the cafe and started staring at people who were understandably a bit freaked out when looking up from their computers only to see a mouse staring at them.

I don’t know what he was in there for. He never got to the food. Maybe he was just trying to cool off.

Ladies and gentlemen, the real Venus Fly Trap

Edited to say, starting at 1:46. NOTE: These are outtakes of blown lines. Just for the fun of it.

I was once a certified pest control operator. I soon learned that the English Sparrows, Starlings, and Pigeons we were so used to were all invasive species. Our state Department of Agriculture rates them as pests. No permit needed to eradicate. The return of various birds of prey seems to be keeping these pests in check too.

Got up one morning during deer season to discover a deer mouse in my hold-all. It had located a package of anise seed attractant and was in a daze. These mice are quite gentle. So I patted the little fellow on the head and later tossed him outside.

I found a tree frog 🐸

I found this guy crawling around my yard yesterday. I thought he was kinda cute, so I let him live.

snakes! yikes.
Imagine seeing a snake inside your house!I think I would have to move out.

Whatever you do, though, don’t listen to him when he tells you to eat the fruit.

He did head for our back door for a brief moment, but he was readily amiable to my redirection.

I did have a little one in my studio one night. I simply stepped over it and let it find it’s own way out.
Is that a kingsnake? Good to have around.
It is. I don’t see them that often, but I know they’re here. I think they’re living under my house. Fascinating creatures. It was fun following this one around for an hour or so.

😁

Kingsnakes are good to have around barns and corn cribs etc. They eat rodents and even eat other snakes including rattlesnakes.

A cottontail kit once took refuge in a sibling’s garage only to get caught in a glueboard trap. I was called to provide advise on how to extract the bunny from the sticky mess.

Glue traps are a nightmare. They’re highly discouraged around here.

Here’s a couple of more pests that set up camp in my back yard one summer. I think a need to purchase a flame thrower, or something…

I’ve driven off stray cats with a laser pointer–or water balloons–if need be.
