My area has a terrible problem with flying rats.
 
One particularly cold winter day, my side yard had 22 geese on it!

When I lived in Asia I used to see lots of ducks and geese going down the dirt roads on their way to the rice paddies. I asked a local farmer what was going on. He replied that these birds were “employed” by the farmers to eat the pests that were destroying the rice crops.
 
Those are cute geese.

I had the non cute geese.

Geese are territorial birds and are known to chase or attack humans who disturb their territory. While geese may chase people, an actual physical attack is fairly rare. You can stop a goose’s aggression by respectfully leaving its territory. Back away slowly, while remaining calm.”
