Sir Knight:
Remember, when he was crucified, Jesus called out, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what thy’re doing.”It amazes me how you accept the Word of Christ in certain areas when it comes to loving thy neighbor but don’t accept the Words of Christ when He gave absolute authority to His church to shepard His flock and their official position on this matter. But is you want to keep this purely scriptural, then reconcile your above quotes with these passages:
If killing is wrong, why did God command people to be put to death for certain actions? Answer me that! Keeping in mind that according to Malachi 3:6 & James 1:17, God does not change. God has always been absolutely perfect - God can become neither better or worse. God does not change; therefore what God says is right, or wrong, is for all time.
- Leviticus 20:10 - And the man or woman that committeth adultery with another man’s wife or another woman’s husband, even he or she that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife or her neighbour’s husband, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death with hate.
- Exodus 21:16 - And he or she that stealeth a man or woman, and selleth him or her, or if he or she be found in his or her hand, he or she shall surely be put to death.
- Leviticus 20:11 - And the man or woman that lieth with his or her father’s wife or mother’s husband hath uncovered his or her father’s or mother’s nakedness:both of them shall surely be put to death; with pure hatred, their blood shall be upon them.
- Exodus 21:17 - And he or she that curseth his or her father, or his or her mother, shall surely be put to death.
- Leviticus 20:2 - Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he or she shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him or herwith stones and pure hatred.
- Exodus 22:19 - Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
- Leviticus 19:20 - And whosoever lieth carnally with a man or woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband or wife, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given him or her; he or she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because he or she was not free.
- Exodus 31:14 - Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death
- Leviticus 20:12 - And if a man or woman lie with his or her son or daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
- Exodus 31:15 - Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
- Leviticus 20:13 - If a man or woman also lie with mankind or womankind, as he or she lieth with a man or woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
- Exodus 35:2 - Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
- Leviticus 20:27 - A man or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
- Numbers 3:10 - And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
- Leviticus 24:16 - And he or she that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he or she shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him or her: as well the stranger, as he or she that is born in the land, when he or she blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.
