Yes everyone has a similar story if they get out much.and each denomination has a system. Of how to apply evangelicalism.

Isn’t the act of evangelizing a work?

…and that video is disgusting. Obviously they don’t believe in Christian charity, compassion or love. If this guy is your coworkers hero, I’d point out that that was the most unchristian video I’ve ever seen. Let him explain the Christian love in that video!
Can’t see video. Message: “null If owner of video has granted you access please sign in” If those aren’t the exact words, they’re close.

I wonder if YouTube pulled it…good on them.

It shows the pastor putting on a tall pointed hat similar to a cardinals and taking a toilet brush and bucket of water and sprinkling the audience…it really is a total mocking of the Catholic Church and embarrassing to watch…and I’m not Catholic. Consider yourself lucky.

I am not sure why you would engage with someone like this, especially in the work place. He believes what he beliieves, and no one is going to change that, obviously. You believe what you believe, and nobody is going to change that, obviously. What do you hope to gain from an interaction like this?

Please note, it is one thing to debate a certain specific aspect of faith, beliefs, morals, etc. I don’t see anything wrong with that (although I think one should be very careful in the workplace if he values his job). But this idea of trying to change a whole belief or faith of a person by having an antagonistic argument with them is something I have never understood. It doesn’t work, and it has the ability to do much more harm than good.

You said what do i hope to gain, as if I’m looking for some sort of problem at work. I did not start it and I told him this is not something i typically do at work. And I offered to meet him outside work and have a discussion about it.

Which leads me to believe you didn’t actually read the OP.

Not at all. I read the whole OP.

I guess what I am asking is why people get involved in these discussions, when they know they aren’t going to change anyone’s mind, nor are they going to allow their own mind to be changed.

I love discussion on these important topics, but not when there is animosity involved. It is not that I am a non-confrontational person (I don’t mind confrontation at all), but I wonder what outcome one is hoping for when they engage in a conversation with someone where there is a lot of animosity towards core values and beliefs of the other person involved. That is all.

I guess it is something I wonder about because I witness it often. I work in a place where it is inappropriate conversation (for a variety of reasons I won’t go into here) and yet there are a couple of staff people from various religious backgrounds who just don’t seem to be able to help themselves. They don’t approach me on the issue, but I see them approach others often. Just something I am curious about.

Not yet. We will cross paths again probably Friday.

Interested to see if he has anything to say at all lol.
“I” would tell him that his fringe opinions, which disagree with virtually all other denominations have given me cause to doubt the entire faith. The Lord would see the crossed fingers behind my back. Best to turn this around and give him pause to think for a change.

The proof of falsity as demonstrated in the scriptures is testimony which does not agree.
