What about all the people who may need services that have nothing to do with children?
I was 14 when my reproductive system started acting crazy. I won’t go into details here, but I needed to see a doctor. Even though I was a virgin, I couldn’t work up the nerve to tell my parents that I needed to go to the doc. Again, I won’t go into details about why I couldn’t tell my parents. The point is, I was 14, scared, and my body was failing me. I knew about insurance; I knew that if I went to my pediatrician, it would be recorded and my parents could potentially find out. My friend recommended Planned Parenthood. The nurse practitioner was amazing. No abortions. No “trying” to get me pregnant; the poster who mentioned that they give wrong dosage of birth control or shoddy condoms is paranoid I think. I did get a lengthy discussion about sex education and the importance of abstinence at my age

SHOCK! Planned Parenthood hired someone who promoted abstinence?! Yes. Those people exist.
I know this will be torn apart and I know that you think I am pro-Planned Parenthood now. I’m not; I am very pro-choice, but the problem is, there is a dark underbelly to literally EVERYTHING we do. That chicken on your table? Watch Food Inc and try not to feel bad. Walking past that shivering homeless guy? Did you offer him your jacket? NOTHING is without evil (except God). But to deny the good in something because of it’s sins is just as evil as the sin itself. Let’s find a way to make Planned Parenthood a cheap source of OB/GYN care without abortions, instead of trying to scrap the whole thing.
