I am catholic, but I agree with Meedo, unless you study the arabic language yourself, it’s hard to translate to other languages, it is not like english or latin, so it’s a big ask for him to translate it perfectly when the words or tenses or meaning may not exist in english.
You are not Catholic in the slightest if you agree with Meedo and falsely claim the Bible has errors.

**The Encyclical
“Providentissimus Deus”

Given by His Holiness Pope Leo XIII
November 18, 1893
Inspiration Incompatible with Error:**

20 …For all the books which the Church receives as sacred and canonical, are written wholly and entirely, with all their parts, at the dictation of the Holy Ghost; and so far is it from being possible that any error can co-exist with inspiration, that inspiration not only is essentially incompatible with error, but excludes and rejects it as absolutely and necessarily as it is impossible that God Himself, the supreme Truth, can utter that which is not true. This is the ancient and unchanging faith of the Church, solemnly defined in the Councils of Florence and of Trent, and finally confirmed and more expressly formulated by the Council of the Vatican. These are the words of the last: “The Books of the Old and New Testament, whole and entire, with all their parts, as enumerated in the decree of the same Council (Trent) and in the ancient Latin Vulgate, are to be received as sacred and canonical. And the Church holds them as sacred and canonical, not because, having been composed by human industry, they were afterwards approved by her authority; nor only because they contain revelation without error; but because, having been written under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, they have God for their author.”(57) Hence, because the Holy Ghost employed men as His instruments, we cannot therefore say that it was these inspired instruments who, perchance, have fallen into error, and not the primary author. For, by supernatural power, He so moved and impelled them to write-He was so present to them-that the things which He ordered, and those only, they, first, rightly understood, then willed faithfully to write down, and finally expressed in apt words and with infallible truth. Otherwise, it could not be said that He was the Author of the entire Scripture. Such has always been the persuasion of the Fathers. “Therefore,” says St. Augustine, “since they wrote the things which He showed and uttered to them, it cannot be pretended that He is not the writer; for His members executed what their Head dictated.”(58) And St. Gregory the Great thus pronounces: "Most superfluous it is to inquire who wrote these things-we loyally believe the Holy Ghost to be the Author of the book. He wrote it Who dictated it for writing; He wrote it Who inspired its execution. "(59)

21.*** It follows that those who maintain that an error is possible in any genuine passage of the sacred writings, either pervert the Catholic notion of inspiration, or make God the author of such error.***

I have difficulty getting a point across from my native language when translating to english.
That is problem that you should resolve before you make heretical claims that the Bible has error. You have admitted you are in error, in your words above.
Also remember, many people the Bible has errors, because they don’t read it in context, we can because we are more learned with the bible.
This is an UNTRUTH and borders on heresy. See the the Papal Encyclical above.
I am catholic,…,Just keep this in mind, ok continue the debate 😉
Are you catholic? It seems the opposite, actually possibly anti-Christian, because what is it that you have said that is Catholic (other than the actual use of the word itself). It is obvious you are defending Islam, and posing as a Catholic to promote your agenda of propaganda.

I AM A CATHOLIC. I do not want your theological arrogance, I never said the Bible has errors, I do not even think that, I said to keep in mind the translations for arabic to english in Koran presents the same difficulty as it does for some readers of the Bible when they don’t get some concept.

Some moderator needs to keep you in check for claiming other people are not catholic. I said I am catholic, I do not disagree with the Bible, i do not believe there are errors in the bible. DO NOT misread. Please don’t quote encyclicals, I agree with them, infact I was reading Humani Generis as I saw this post.

Read up on this, while you are at it.

Really…you overreact.

Once again, i do not think the bible has errors

What difficulty? Why is it more difficult than to translate the Bible into Innuit?

I am not looking for some major debate.

In short, I am catholic. I do not believe the Bible has errors. My main point is, to keep in mind that the Qu’ran’s translation from Arabic to English may have resulted in a loss of information (as is usually the case when translating from one language to another) and to give the muslims here a fair chance in giving their opinions instead of piling 10 posts upon them one after the other without giving them some response time.

I suppose someone now wants to come and make a claim I am infact Muslim, pretending to be Catholic and perhaps they will make an encyclical quote stating that my tolerance for the muslims on the board with their interpretation is heresy and that I have committed a mortal sin 😉

I know one of you out there is itching to do this.

I am still offended btw. I spent millions of hours on www.christianforums.com

Specifically in the ethics and morality sections defending the Pope and the Catholic Church, and someone here likes to make a leap and claim that i’m not Catholic even in the “slightest”

Keep in mind, you have no right to make such a comment, Catholics have varying opinions, and not all of them know all the encyclicals, therefore it’s very unfair for any of you here to state they are not catholics, be a bit more considerate and let them know their mistakes and explaining GENTLY why, not “YOU AREN’T CATHOLIC” THIS IS HERESY.

The only think you are doing there is turning people AWAY from the faith.

The forums for major debate are over there ----> 😉

Yes, you keep repeating this and ignoring the fact that over decades (at least) people well versed in both languages have in fact translated it successfully.

And if there are errors, why’s Meedo able to use the Koranic verses in English to explain Islam?

Why are there errors in the translations of those who debate against Islam, but not by those that defend it?

Fine, the Qu’ran has made errors, it doesn’t matter to me, I am not muslim, let Meedo explain it. This is useless…

You want me a catholic to explain why the islamic texts have errors…k:rolleyes:

Mate (we’re Australian!)
please. shutup.
Nice one!
I don’t really care, give up now, fine,
the Qu’ran has made errors, it doesn’t matter to me, I am not muslim, let Meedo explain it.
Meedo can’t explain it.
This is useless…
Don’t give up, I’d like to see you construct a reasoned response as to why you think translators keep stuffing-up
You want me a catholic to explain why the islamic texts have errors…
No. I don’t. I want you to explain why the Koran’s translations are faulty.

Excellent, at least I am not charged with heresy anymore.
We’ve I charged you with heresy?

You certainly have offered the same argument that Moslems here have -and I’ve noted that - what conclusions people draw from that fact is just their own guess. But then I’ve also noted that you offer nothing more of an argument that your opinion that the translations must be wrong.

Please don’t quote encyclicals, I agree with them, infact I was reading Humani Generis as I saw this post.
There is no rule or regulation stating that Encyclicals cannot be quoted.
What is more surprising is that you are reading an Encyclical, yet I cannot quote one. 🤷
A middle school read. So what does this have to do with this thread?
Really…you overreact.
This is not true. Remember you succumbed to name calling not I.

This is not a Catholic demeanor. Please refrain from name calling, Thank you.
But you charging me with heresy and calling me catholic is not offensive, especially when you misread my post? Please refrain from charging people with heresy and calling them non-catholics.

My point here was rather there was no need to quote encyclicals t o prove I am wrong because I don’t disagree with them!! So there was no need to do it.

It has to with your approach, you were really arrogant, who are you to charge people with heresy? Theologically correct, but watch your approach

I find you calling me a heretic and then not a catholic as name calling. Especially the heretic bit, yes and charging me with heresy is calling me heretic.

It was just my opinion about the language translation issues, what do you want me to say? I was wrong? Ok, I was wrong, you are all correct and even me who has studied arabic for 5 years, I am wrong, because you surely know more than the arab and the person who has studied arabic about language issues. I raised the point because I have had to study several languages throughout my life and I speak 2 fluently, and can read and write another two to an extent, and I am aware of problems that arise from translation. I am not a language authority however, and I don’t really care whether I was wrong about the language issue, this isn’t some dialectical argument.

It would be wise read more on the Catholic Faith since Forums should not be a starting point.
Here are some good sites:
www.vatican.va (THE HOLY SEE-VATICAN)
newadvent.org/ (Catholic Encyclopedia, Summa, etc. online)

Noted.

What actually is turning people away from the Faith is ignorance of the Faith.

I apologize, you are correct my approach was wrong. It was not meant to imply you are a heretic, but that claims may be heretical in nature. But again it would have been better not use those words and instead explain the error or my understanding of an error. I think i understand what you were trying to say, but it is good you agree that the Bible, as stated in the Encyclical, is error free. Peace.
May God Bless you.🙂
